NBC headed into midseason last year with plenty of momentum — only to see its fortunes collapse as The Voice took a winter nap and new hit Revolution went on hiatus. Lesson learned. Not taking this fall's solid ratings for granted, NBC will bring its new smash, The Blacklist, back in January before taking a break for the Olympics. And the Winter Games will provide a ratings boost as well as a broad platform on which to market the network's upcoming series.
Exclusive: Disney XD's Lab Rats Gets Season 3 Premiere Date; Reveals Guest Stars
Disney XD's hit comedy Lab Rats returns Monday, Feb. 17 with a one-hour premiere at 6:30/5:30c, leading into the channel's premiere of Disney Channel movie Cloud 9. Lab Rats stars Billy Unger, Kelli Berglund and Tyrel Jackson Williams will also appear in interstitials during commercial breaks to "host" the telecast. Guests on the show this season include Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier, as well as Disney Channel star Karan Brar (Jessie). Also, Lab Rats star Hal Sparks makes his directorial debut with an episode.

First Look: Teaser Trailer for WGN America's Original Series Salem
WGN America is shedding its "superstation" skin and getting into the original scripted series business this spring with the period drama Salem. The hour-long series, set in 17th century Massachusetts, explores the infamous Salem witch trials. In a twist, witches are real in Salem, and there's a dark, supernatural truth behind them. Brannon Braga (24, Star Trek: The Next Generation) created, executive produced and wrote Salem, along with Adam Simon (The Haunting in Connecticut). The show stars Janet Montgomery (Made in Jersey), Shane West (Nikita), Seth Gabel (Fringe), Ashley Madekew (Revenge), Xander Berkeley (The Mentalist), Tamzin Merchant (Jane Eyre) and Elise Eberle (The Astronaut Farmer). West plays John Alden, a "tough, pragmatic, wry-humored" war veteran who returns to Salem after spending a decade on the battlefield and being held in captivity at the hands of the Indians. John finds his hometown gripped in witch-hunt frenzy, led by Cotton Mather (Gabel). John also has a history with Mary Sibley (Montgomery), but is the subject of advances by Anne Hale (Merchant), a fearless artist who becomes Mary's enemy.

Lifetime Adapting Top Of the Morning Book Into a TV Movie
The morning show wars may soon be heading to Lifetime. The cable network is looking at adapting Top of the Morning, based on the book of the same name by former New York Times reporter Brian Stelter, into a two-hour TV movie. First Look: Season 5 of TLC's My Strange Addiction Gets Dolled Up
TLC's human shockfest My Strange Addiction returns for a fifth season on New Year's Day with the one-hour special I'm A Living Doll, which explores the lives of three people who undergo radical plastic surgery, extreme diets and other appearance-altering means in order to look like human dolls. The special premieres Jan. 1 at 9/8c, followed by two more new episodes at 10/9c. Among the stories explored: A woman who dresses up like a pony every day; a single mother who drinks paint; two identical twins who haven't been apart for more than 30 minutes in 20 years; and a 26-year-old who eats mattresses, consuming a total of eight beds in the past 20 years. My Strange Addiction continues on Jan. 8 at 10/9c with cases including a 33-year-old man who has spent $100,000 on plastic surgery to look like Justin Bieber; a woman who chews on dirty diapers; a man who's hooked on leeches; and a woman who eats an entire palate of eye shadow in one sitting.
