Question: I have now watched the second episode of John from Cincinnati, and it is still the most embarrassing piece of programming ever to come out of HBO. They canceled Deadwood for this crap?Answer: Amen, sister.
Question: I have now watched the second episode of John from Cincinnati, and it is still the most embarrassing piece of programming ever to come out of HBO. They canceled Deadwood for this crap?Answer: Amen, sister.
Question: Last week you said that, come September, we would be begging for Gossip Girl spoilers. But if people can just read the books to find out what happens next, why would they need you? Huh?Answer: Gee… I hadn't thought of that. Damn.
Question: Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars are gone, yet you still talk about them! When are you gonna pay attention to shows people actually watch? Like, say, Desperate Housewives!Answer: New neighbor alert! Marc Cherry is adding a new family to Wisteria Lane, and the matriarch sounds a lot like Bree… only way more unhinged.
Question: Come on, Mikey. You're moderately funny and slightly cute, but Sexiest Vegetarian? Let's get real. You're not even the sexiest columnist at TV Guide. Let's stick to dropping spoilers and tart one-liners and leave the fantasy stuff to the good folks at Battlestar Galactica, K?Answer: Does anyone else notice the similarity between Brian's writing style and Matt Mitovich's? It's uncanny.
Question: Michael, my love, the light of my life, please give me some Weeds scoopage. I have been on antidepressants since Veronica Mars was canceled, so please lift my spirits!Answer: Upcoming guest star Brooke Smith tells me she's in talks to extend her arc as Martin Donovan's ex-wife (and Nancy's new BFF) beyond four episodes. After that, she's ready, willing and able to reprise her role as Dr. Hahn on Grey's Anatomy. "No one has approached me," she says, "but bring it on. I'd be stupid to say no to that. And I'm not stupid." (BTW, which antidepressants are you on, Jill? How are they working for you? Can I borrow some? Wanna continue this conversation off-line?)
Question: I voted for you 500 times this week at peta.org. In return, would you do another blind item? Partly because I like them, but mostly 'cause it's funny how worked up people get over them.Answer: Done.
Question: Can you give us some scoop on the upcoming season of that oh-so-great Sci Fi show Eureka?Answer: Prepare to ignite your addiction all over again just in the first two episodes alone. And when I say "ignite," I'm talking a combustible situation that needs to be solved very quickly. Plus, Henry creates a device that will change Carter forever, Nathan's power is tested, and Fargo is forced into a position that expands into troublesome proportions.
Heads are rolling over at Crane Poole & Schmidt.Julie Bowen, Mark Valley, Rene Auberjonois and Constance Zimmer have all been let go from the show, sources tell me. A rep for David E. Kelley Productions confirms that their contract options were not picked up. To fill the void, Night Court's John Larroquette is joining the show as a series regular next season, but he won't be reprising his Emmy-winning role from Kelley's The Practice. Instead, he will be playing an attorney from the New York offices of CP&S. Also Dirt's Tara Summers will be coming on board as a young associate. Finally, current cast member Christian Clemenson (Jerry) has been upped to series regular. Phew, that's a whole lot of change for one TV show. Thoughts on the big revamp, Legal fans?

Question: What's been the fallout from Isaiah Washington's Grey's firing?Answer: Well, the folks over at Grey's are apparently steamed about comments Isaiah's rep, Howard Bragman, made to me on Friday — specifically the part about how his client jumped through hoops only to be fired anyway. "Apparently, Isaiah missed the point that he should have been apologizing and working on his anger issues because it's the right thing to do," whispers a Grey's insider. "It wasn't just supposed to be an empty exercise he went through for the sake of appearances."

Question: What about Boston Legal — who is gone, who is coming back?Answer: A friend of a friend's ex-boyfriend's former roommate's tennis partner overheard Constance Zimmer at a recent Hollywood shindig telling friends she isn't returning.
Question: I just can't muster up any enthusiasm since the demise of Gilmore Girls. I now have a humdrum existence. How do you deal with it every day?Answer: That's a great question, Holly. Whenever I feel down in the dumps, I look across my office at the prop wine bottle from the Stars Hollow production of Fiddler on the Roof that producers sent me last week as a thank-you for supporting their show. Nothing lifts my spirits like some serious swag. Don't be jealous, though: I also got my hands on some way cool Dragonfly Inn loot, and I totally plan on sharing it with you guys via a contest of some sort. I'll hopefully have more details in the coming weeks.
Question: Who will be back on 24 next season?Answer: As of now, it looks like Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and possibly James Morrison.
Question: I heard that Brothers & Sisters has hired Mark Perry as an exec producer. Do you think it's a good change or not? And does it mean Greg Berlanti is too busy to work on the show?Answer: It's true that Mark has come aboard, but considering his résumé includes both The Wonder Years and One Tree Hill, it remains to be seen whether this is a good or a bad thing. I'm inclined to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Regarding Berlanti, a B&S rep insists he's still a "significant part of the show," adding that both of his new ABC dramas — Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money — have offices near the B&S set, which makes commuting a cinch. Also, Jon Robin Baitz and Ken Olin are still around, so rest assured, the show continues to be in good hands. BTW, I hear Michael Nouri will be returning as Saul's "friend" next season. That noise you hear is me trying to contain my excitement.
Question: Do you know when Nip/Tuck is coming back? And do you have any good info on it?Answer: It returns this fall, and I'd say Bradley Cooper joining the cast qualifies as pretty good info. (BTW, check out my latest vodcast for another clue about his top-secret role.)
Question: It's been a month and a half since you gave us any Supernatural scoop. Will you please give us some Season 3 spoilers?Answer: Big scoop! The show is adding two new series regulars next season, both of them female and, based on the casting breakdowns, insanely doable. The first one is described as a beautiful, funny and confident mercenary who lacks a conscience, and the other is an enigmatic demon hunter who is sexy, brutal and ruthless. So ruthless that I hear she's going to make Sam and Dean look like the Hardy Boys.
Question: Can we get a heads-up on when you might be going on vacation this summer? I need to plan mine around yours so I don't miss any scoop.Answer: All I'll say is it's coming. And it ain't gonna be pretty. That's all for this week, folks! Head on over to the Ask Ausiello Discussion Thread to chat about this week's column. Also, check out the latest installment of my Ausiello Report vodcast for scoop on The Shield, Heroes and Nip/Tuck. And don't forget to send questions/hot tips/Ausiello sightings to askausiello@tvguide.com! — Additional reporting by Michael Maloney and Matt Webb Mitovich
Question: What's the latest on Jorja Fox's contract situation?Answer: Nothing's official, but I hear she's close to re-signing.
Question: Any news on the type of person (age, looks, etc) the CW wants for Supergirl on Smallville?Answer: KryptonSite has a detailed casting breakdown, but basically they're looking for an actress who has blonde hair and can pass for 19. Also — and you didn't hear this from me — the hope is that Supergirl will eventually be spun off into her own CW show. But again, you didn't hear that from me.
Question: What ever happened to the Cheri Oteri/J.J. Abrams sitcom project?Answer: It simmered down now.
Question: Gossip Girl? Seriously? After what the CW has done to Veronica Mars? I'm appalled by your ability to forgive, forget and move on at a rapid-fire pace (Ask Ausiello 6/6). That windburn must hurt.Answer: Puh-lease. Come September, you'll be begging me for Gossip spoilers. Mark my words.
Question: Regarding your "Underrepresented Shows" poll, how about none of the above?Answer: You can be such a bitch sometimes, Krissy. Seriously. Speaking of the poll, stop cheating, Bones fans. The Supernatural fans are onto you.
Question: The next time you speak to/e-mail Rob Thomas, could you please ask him if he's ever considered continuing the Veronica Mars story line in comic-book form, the way Joss Whedon is doing with Buffy?Answer: Actually, according to the Toronto Star, he had a meeting with DC Comics last Monday about that very subject. And the idea of a VM feature film remains a distinct possibility, so the Mars franchise ain't over yet. Not by a long shot.
