Fox's 2019-2020 Fall TV Lineup: What You Need to Know

Get the latest on Fox's new and returning shows

It's a new era at Fox, which is preparing to kick off its first official TV season as "New Fox." Disney acquired the network's accompanying studio this spring, so the upcoming fall TV season will be a chance for "New Fox" to make a statement about what the network's new identity will be.

In the midst of these changes, a few things are still certain: The Simpsons will continue to hold court heading into its 31st season. Breakout hit The Masked Singer will be back for a second and third round -- and it's getting the coveted post-Super Bowl slot. Medical drama The Resident has secured a Season 3, while Empire was renewed for a sixth and final season, though there are currently no plans for Jussie Smollett to return to the drama. Meanwhile, 9-1-1will keep Fox in business with Ryan Murphy for at least another season as he continues developing future projects for Netflix, The Orville will blast off for a third season and continue Seth MacFarlane's relationship with Fox, and Last Man Standing will stay up for another season as well.

Unfortunately, some freshman series didn't make the cut for Season 2, including The Passage, The Cool Kids, and Rel. Elsewhere, Star was canceled after a crazy Season 3 cliffhanger, and Lethal Weapon was put out of its misery after non-stop behind-the-scenes drama.

Below you'll find all of the news out of Upfronts related to Fox's 2019-2020 schedule. For more information, check out everything you need to know about ABC, NBC, CBS, and The CW's fall lineups here.

Dramas

Deputy
Logline: A modern cop drama that blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern-day attitude and gritty authenticity. When the Los Angeles County's Sheriff dies, an arcane rule forged back in the Wild West thrusts the most unlikely man into the job: a fifth-generation lawman, more comfortable taking down bad guys than navigating a sea of politics. He leads a skilled team of ambitious and complicated human beings who won't rest until justice is served.
Starring: Stephen Dorff (True Detective), Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin), Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town), Siena Goines, Bex Taylor-Klaus (Scream), Shane Paul McGhie, Mark Moses

Filthy Rich
Logline: A southern Gothic family drama in which wealth, power and religion collide -- with outrageously soapy results. When the patriarch of a mega-rich Southern family, famed for creating a wildly successful Christian television network, dies in a plane crash, his wife and family are stunned to learn that he fathered three illegitimate children, all of whom are written into his will, threatening their family name and fortune. With monumental twists and turns, Filthy Rich presents a world in which everyone has an ulterior motive -- and no one is going down without a fight.
Starring: Kim Cattrall, Gerald McRaney, Aubrey Dollar, Corey Cott, Benjamin Aguilar, Mark L. Young, Melia Kreiling, Steve Harris, David Denman, Olivia Macklin

neXt
Logline: A propulsive, fact-based thriller about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence that combines pulse-pounding action with a layered examination of how technology is invading our lives and transforming us in ways we don't yet understand. A Silicon Valley pioneer discovers that one of his own creations - a powerful A.I. - might spell global catastrophe, and teams up with a cybercrime agent to fight a villain unlike anything we've ever seen - one whose greatest weapon against us is ourselves.
Starring: John Slattery (Mad Men), Fernanda Andrade, Michael Mosley, Jason Butler Harner, Eve Harlowe, Aaron Moten, Gerardo Celasco, Elizabeth Cappucino, Evan Whitten

Almost Family
Logline:
A story of an unusual family formed through extreme odds, exploring such hot-button issues as identity, human connection and what it truly means to be a family. An only child finds her life turned upside down when her father reveals that, over the course of his prize-winning career as a pioneering fertility doctor, he used his own sperm to conceive upwards of a hundred children, including two new sisters. As these three young women slowly embrace their new reality, they will attempt to form an untraditional bond as sisters, even as they must welcome a tidal wave of new siblings into their rapidly expanding family. Based on the original Endemol Shine Australia series, "Sisters," from Jonathan Gavin and Imogen Banks.
Starring: Brittany Snow, Emily Osment, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Timothy Hutton, Mustafa Elzein, Mo McRae

Prodigal Son
Logline:
A fresh take on a crime franchise with a provocative and outrageous lead character and a darkly comedic tone. Malcolm Bright knows how killers think. Why? His father was one of the best, a notorious serial killer called "The Surgeon." That's why Bright is the best criminal psychologist around; murder is the family business. He uses his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes, while dealing with a somewhat manipulative mother, an annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son and his own constantly evolving neuroses.
Starring: Tom Payne (The Walking Dead), Michael Sheen, Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts, Bellamy Young (Scandal), Keiko Agena, Halston Sage

9-1-1: Lone Star

Starring: Rob Lowe
