Vicki Springer is accused of trying to steal a diamond bracelet. Her hubby is a defense attorney, but he double-crosses her: he enters a guilty plea, then walks out of the courtroom arm-in-arm with his new girlfriend. Vicki is sent to prison, to join the Women in Prison. The women don't wear regulation prison clothes, but their own clothes -- Vicki dresses like an upper-class woman, Bonnie dresses like a hooker, a butch woman dresses like a man, etc. All the inmates have to work; there are many bad jobs like working in the kitchen, or the laundry, or cleaning the showers and toilets. Vicki wants a cushy job, being the Warden's secretary. When his current secretary gets winged by bullets during her prison-break attempt, Vicki gets the coveted job immediately. But now, since the inmates think Vicki has some "pull" at the prison, some of them expect favors from her. Doing the favors could get her into trouble -- refusing to do them gets her death threats. It is a zany time when you have all these Women in Prison.
