Episode 1

Wagons Ho!

Wed, Sep 28, 196060 mins

Naive young Irishman Samuel T. Evans packs the family printing press and heads west. After the greenhorn lightens his wallet at the St. Louis merchants, he joins the wagon train where he finds love and a wife in a girl named Melanie. The young couple share the adventure of life on the trial. But Sam seems to experience more than his share of the adventure. For one, Sam's horses don't take kindly to the clumsy greenhorn. And the Indians don't go easy on him, either. Even after being warned of the thieving Indians, the unfortunate greenhorn loses a valuable horse. But that's only the start of what the Indians do to Samuel T. Evans. Everything culminates when the Indians mistake Sam as the leader of the wagon train and kidnap him for ransom. But the fiery Irishman proves to be a handful even for the Indians, who gladly trade the man of the "Irish tribe" back to the wagon train. Not everything goes wrong for Sam, however. Melanie has good news for him - he's going to be a father - if only she can get through to her distracted husband.
