Episode 1

Bjorn struggles with the responsibilities of kingship and finds he can't rely on his mother, Lagertha; she has other plans. Ivar falls into the hands of Kievan Rus, and in their ruthless and unpredictable ruler, Prince Oleg, he may finally have met his match.

Bjorn still hesitates whether to go rescue Harald from Olaf and gets nu useful answer from the seer, while Lagertha plays retired farmer with the kids and Ubbe receives news from Kjetill Flatnose of Floki's Iceland party's meager survival rate but refuses to believe Floki is dead. Neither suspects the danger rising in the east, where the Kievan Rus plot to reconquer their Scandinavian homeland. Ivar is again amazed how prince Oleg the Prophet deals with rival brothers. Prince Askold is poisoned during a smoke curtain banquet in Novgorod, to get hold of little prince Igor, the legitimate heir of Kiev. Oleg's annexation of land and troops is challenged by another brother, Dir, whose not so as he thought secret marriage to a princess proves Oleg(s secret weapon to 'prove' himself as prophet in a wager and get home safely with Ivar, who befriends young Igor.

Episode 3

Bjorn finally decides to go rescue Harald from Olaf, leaving Ubbe behind as regent, who advocates making Kattegat greater again as home port for trade and raids on new routes, agreeing with Torvi to let the kids in Lagertha's care when they can set out after Bjorn's return. Ubbe meanwhile plans to send Hvitserk on an expedition along the Silk Road, but he's utterly tormented by visions of Ivar and his burnt-alive beloved Thora. Harald hears of his hope for liberation from dwarf jailer Canute, but Olaf's defense by oil on the coastal waters and burning arrows deals a terrible blow. Ivar further befriends boy prince Igor and is impressed how ruthless prince Oleg promises to prepare the 'reconquest' of Scandinavia and reduces his raid-captured rival brother Dir to a chained dog.

Lagertha leads her village's response to the recent attacks but despite her best efforts, when the inevitable attack comes, the consequences are tragic. Olaf has a bold new plan for the future of Norway. In Kiev, although Ivar discusses Oleg's ambitions for Scandinavia, he's actually more interested in the plight of Igor, the young heir who Oleg controls.

King Olaf feels confident about the result of the election of the King of all Norway as the kings and jarls visit Harald's territory; Lagertha's village is abuzz due to bandit attacks; Ivar is forced to confront an unfortunate element of his past.

Bjorn is forced to act quickly in the aftermath of the election for the King of all Norway. The bandits attack Lagertha's village again, confident of victory. But when the defense boils down to single combat with Lagertha, victory for the bandits looks less certain. Back in Kattegat, haunted and paranoid, Hvitserk continues to unravel.

In Kattegat, there is the funeral of Lagherta and Torvi volunteers for the human sacrifice to accompany her friend to Valhalla. However Gunnhild does not accept since she is pregnant and another young woman is accepted. Bjorn arrives in time to see the ceremony. Ivar receives a message from Dir. Olaf confronts King Harald and he promises to jail Olaf.

Episode 8

Bjorn faces a difficult decision. Ubbe and Torvi leave Kattegat, in search of new lands and perhaps old friends. Oleg's plans for the invasion of Scandinavia are taking shape, and King Harald is baffled by the origin of a mysterious raiding party.

Bjorn sends his savior Erik to negotiate a pact against the foreign threat with 'All-Norvegian king' Harald, who would have executed the outlaw, but king Olaf reminds him to be spared to speak wisdom, which is not to face the enemy alone. While prince Oleg has his impressive troop parade, ready to invade Scandinavia in Spring, Ivar gets confirmation that prince Dir is ready to turn on the prophet with him and Igor. When Hvitserk arrives, Ivar welcomes him, as does Oleg, eager for fresh news from Kattegat. In Iceland, Ubbe is worried to find out that Othere, who is to lead his fleet to the promised land, is a defected monk calling himself Athelstan, whom he wishes to kill in the gods' name for being a Christian.

Episode 10

Ivar and Oleg plot their attack to Norway. Meanwhile Bjorn, Gunhild, Erik and Harald plan the defense of Vestfold alone since the other kings have not come to help Harald. When the Rus arrive on the shore, the battle with the Vikings begins.

Episode 11

Having defeated Harald's and Bjorn's forces, the Rus occupy Tamdrup and prepare to attack Kattegat. Harald and former king Olaf are captured by the Rus. Oleg makes frightened prince Igor, whom Ivar coaches fatherly and secretly inspires to plot a rebellion, personally burn fearless Olaf alive. Harald, refusing to become a pawn for Oleg, escapes back home. In Kattegat King Hakon and Jarl Hrolf arrive 'belated' with their armies, finding Bjorn still be alive, but slowly dying from his wounds. In Iceland, Ubbe recruits volunteer for the expedition back home, but Othere reveals how Kjetill and Frodi murdered Eyvind's family. Bjorn realizes that Ingrid is pregnant and assumes the child his. Hakon brings the Rus news of Bjorn's passing and surrenders to Oleg, only to be killed by captain Ganbaatar. As the Rus hold mass, Bjorn suddenly appears, confusing and scaring them. Ganbaatar shoots Bjorn with arrows, but Bjorn manages to order an attack before passing, thus seeming immortal. The surrounding Norwegian coalition attacks the panicking Rus. Ganbaatar's arrow kills Amma but he's decapitated by Gunnhild. The Rus flee Norway while Bjorn is buried in a lavishly decorated mound.

Episode 12

Ivar, Hvitserk, Prince Oleg and Prince Igor return to Kiev but the latter faces the consequences. With the leadership vacancy in Kattegat Erik, Gunnhild and Ingrid are making plans to fill it. Back to Kiev, Ivar and Prince Dir have new plans for Prince Oleg.

Episode 13

Prince Oleg is celebrating the Good Friday, while Ivar, Hvitserk, Katia and Igor try to escape in a wagon from the town. Gunnhild calls the elections for a new ruler in Kattegat, and there is a huge surprise with the appearance of an old character. Ubbe is sailing to seek out the golden land, but there troubles in the sea and they lose Asa.

In Kiev, Prince Oleg promises to attack Novgorod and give painful treatment to those that have betrayed him. Harald takes over the position of ruler of Kattegat and proposes Gunnhild to get married with him and be the Queen of Kattegat. Ubbe and Torvi loses Asa and find that the land is not the promising golden land. When a whale mysteriously appears in the settlement of Kjetill and his family, Ubbe and the settlers learn how selfish a man can be.

Episode 15

In Greenland, the starving settlers fight the haywire Kjetill and his men to take part of the whale, but in the end they flee to a boat without water or supplies and sail away from Kjetill. In Kiev, Price Dir, Ivar, Igor and Hvitserk ride to overthrown Prince Oleg, but surprisingly they are welcomed by Oleg's army and people. Igor suspects it is a trap. King Harald is ready to get married with Ingrid and Gunnhild arrives dressing a white dress and wishes the best to the couple, but explains that she prefers to meet Bjorn at the Valhalla.

Episode 16

Ubbe has a difficult journey with the settlers due to the lack of water and supplies, and the weakest persons die on board. He also discusses with Othere. Meanwhile, Ivar and Hvitserk return to Kattegat and hail King Harald, while they are loathed by the residents. Ivar question his brother whether he took the right decision leaving Kiev.

Ubbe and the settlers are still drifting on the sea. After a long period, they finally see land. King Harald leaves Erik and Ingrid to rule Kattegat while he sails with Ivar, Hvitserk, and several boats to Wessex. Meanwhile, King Alfred learns that the Vikings are coming and decides to flee from Wessex with an army and avoid confrontation to defend the town.

Episode 18

Ubbe and the settlers find a fertile land, with forest, fruits, water and animals, but soon they learn that they are not alone in the golden land. In Wessex, the Vikings terrify the residents while King Alfred joins force to confront the Vikings. In Kattegat, Ingrid prepares a witchcraft and Erik goes blind.

Episode 19

In the new land, peace is offered as the Mi'kmaq tribe invites the Viking settlers to a feast. Othere cues Ubbe, having noticed that the sagamaw (chief) Pekitaulet, knows some Old Norse. Ubbe is told another Nordic explorer reached the land before them. Otere's kinsman Naad has discovered gold among the gifts the natives left for the settlers and inquires in vain about its origin. Orlyg confides to his fellow slave Nissa about an offer of liberation if he kills Ingrid from blind Erik, who is seduced by Nissa in a hut and is killed by her while Ingrid's men kill Orlyg, whom she falsely promised safety. King Alfred's Saxon forces are decimated in the woods by Ivar's Vikings who set traps, ambush them and force the English to retreat. In the chaos, Alfred sees a vision of Jesus and is convinced the Christians will triumph. Isolated wandering in the mist, Harald is fatally stabbed by bishop Aldulf. An apparition of Harald's brother Halfdan claims being sent to retrieve Harald to Valhalla. Even dying, Harald stabs Aldulf fatally. The natives lead Ubbe to their Norse teacher: Floki.

Episode 20

In Kattegat, Queen Ingrid becomes the ruler, after the death of King Harald and Ivar. In Wessex, King Alfred wins the battle and Hvitserk becomes a Christian Prince. In the golden land, Ubbe shows justice with Chief Pekitaulet and the settlers and the native live in peace.
