Burns Supper

Beth and Eric celebrate Burns Night where Christine, after visiting Sophie in Wales, criticizes their new toilet and a drunk Cathy obsesses about Colin's old flame Yvonne. Gordon tries to save the day with a Proclaimers song but a phone call from Yvonne and the accidental serving of haggis to vegetarian Gordon tend to sink the festivities.

Eric's Colon

Eric has had an unfortunate injury whilst undergoing a colonoscopy and has to convalesce face down on the settee. Cathy and Colin offer little comfort, questioning his bowel movements whilst Christine is more aggrieved that Beth is unable to go shopping with her. The only helpful person is Gordon, who feeds him soup and takes him to the toilet but Eric snaps when he realizes that everybody is listening outside the door.

Break-in

Cathy and Colin return from holiday to find that they have been burgled and seek comfort with Beth and Eric whilst nosy Christine arrives to see what has happened and to criticize the police. The boys also turn up, giving Cathy a chance to trick Gordon into taking off his trousers, but there is shocking news to follow, meaning that Eric and Beth have to let the burgled couple stay with them for the night.

Fish Friday

To celebrate Beth's birthday Ian and Gordon take her and Eric for a pub lunch. However pushy Christine also invites herself and to make matters worse a drunk Colin, alone whilst Cathy is at a health spa, turns up and draws attention by his loud behaviour. It is a birthday to remember - for the wrong reasons.

After taking part in a pub quiz the two married couples return to Beth and Eric's where Beth is called upon to cook them all chips. Christine also invites herself in whilst Ian and Gordon return early from a trip to Amsterdam following an argument. Somehow they all end up doing their party pieces which ends badly for Gordon.

Alan and Michelle

As cheery Michelle and less than bright husband Alan move into the street Christine invites them to meet their new neighbours at Beth and Eric's house. Whilst Eric tells them the last occupant died in their house Cathy brags about her own home improvements, trying to influence Michelle. Soon the new-comers are overwhelmed by offers of unwanted help but Cathy goes a little bit too far.
