The Magical Elves (the team behind Project Runway, Top Chef) are sprinkling their fairy dust on the new season of Bravo's Top Design (Wednesdays at 10 pm/ET) to shake things up — including Todd Oldham's move to his new Tim Gunn-esque mentoring role. What Does Top Design's Champ Have Designs On Now?

Consistency paid off for Chicago-based designer Matt Lorenz, 32, who on Wednesday night won the final challenge on Bravo's Top Design. In the first-season finale, Lorenz was pitted against his pal Carisa, but eventually came out on top. Now, he's extremely relieved to finally be able to reveal to family and friends that he's the champ, although his 4-year-old daughter did walk into her preschool after the March 28 episode announcing that Daddy had "won." "I had to explain to her and to her teachers and classmates that I won the challenge that night, not the show," Matt chuckles. "I had to be sure that was clear." Top Designer Reveals HIV-positive Status

Tonight's episode of Bravo's Top Design mixes reality TV with harsh reality, as John Gray, whose outbursts have already caused friction among the cast of competing interior designers, reveals that his anger was fueled by medication used in treatment of his HIV-positive condition. "I just want everyone to know," USA Today quotes Gray as telling his fellow contestants. "I'm not making excuses or apologies."Though Gray disclosed his HIV status during casting, producers had no designs on revealing it. As exec producer Clay Newbill tells USA Today, "This isn't a relationship show, so it wasn't an issue."

Bravo's Designers Give NYC Subway an Express Makeover

The folks at Top Design (premiering Wednesday at 11 pm/ET) kicked off the start of Bravo's newest reality show with a serious challenge — redecorating the New York City subway system. To celebrate the premiere, interior design mogul and Top Design judge Jonathan Adler transformed a 42nd Street platform into a stylish living room complete with a flat screen TV and plug-ins for iPods.
