Throttle Out isn't about chromed customs or gnarly neck tattoos, but rather the real adventures of two lifelong friends and die-hard motorcyclists, Ari Henning and Zack Courts, taking on the world - its culture, geography, and technology - through motorcycles. Whether the bikes are old or new, fast or slow, the mission is always the same: explore the infinite ways a motorcycle can move you and discover the thrill of living life on two wheels. When in doubt, Throttle Out.

Episode 1

1,000 Miles in Baja on Honda Monkeys

Wed, Nov 21, 2018 29 mins

MotorTrend is back on two wheels. With the return of Zack Courts and Ari Henning, this first episode of Throttle Out sees the boys attempt a 1,200-mile road trip down the Baja Peninsula on 125cc Honda Monkey minibikes. As if traversing hundreds of miles of rugged terrain on motorcycles with a top speed of 55 mph wasn't difficult enough, Courts and Henning have to battle through the punishing heat, rain, and mud that make Baja an iconic challenge. Can the bikes (and the monkeys riding them) survive the trip?

Episode 2

Junkyard Bikes vs. Zombie Apocalypse

Wed, Dec 19, 2018 29 mins

What bike would you grab for the end of the world? Better yet, what bike would you build if the hordes of zombies were closing in? That's the question that Zack Courts and Ari Henning set out to answer. They travel to the great state of Arizona - home of the largest motorcycle junkyard in North America - and do their best to build the finest zombie-killing machines they can. To succeed, the bikes have to make it across the desert to Zombie WarZ, a live-action, zombie-hunting park. Whoever splatters the most zombies wins.

Episode 3

Banshee-Powered Yamaha YZF-R3 Goes Racing

Wed, Jan 16, 2019 29 mins

Every motorcyclist loves the sound, smell, and charisma of a two-stroke engine, but these days they're all but extinct. Ari and Zack tackle this issue by mounting a 1987 Yamaha Banshee four-wheeler engine into a modern YZF-R3 chassis. Can the boys - and their "R-Shee" racer - revive the glory of two-strokes?

The Boys Do Car vs. Bike

Wed, Feb 13, 2019 31 mins

Since the dawn of internal combustion, people have argued over which is faster - a car or a motorcycle. Over the years many people have put the two different vehicle types to the test. But how do you pick the track? Which car and which bike? And who drives and rides them? The tests are always flawed and the answers rarely satisfying. Zack and Ari figured they could probably drive a fancy car around a track just as quickly as they could ride a bike. So their bluff was called when they were given three sports cars and a superbike: a 4th generation Miata, a C7 Corvette Z06, a Mercedes-AMG GT R, and a Yamaha YZF-R1M. They head to a track they've never been to before and try to set fast lap times for each vehicle. In the end, they probably are no closer to a definitive answer to the question and learned more about their respective riding and driving skills.

Wed, Mar 13, 2019 27 mins

Zack and Ari gave up on winter a decade ago by moving to California, but for lots of people winter is a very real thing. So they set out to prove that winter does not have to mean the end of riding by heading to the Pacific Northwest in January. They depart from Portland on a couple of used dual-sport bikes and ride through the snow to the base of Mount Rainier to join a hardy band of motorcyclists at their annual Snow Camp gathering.

The Sport Utility Cycle: Building a 5-Seater Motorcycle

Wed, Apr 10, 2019 30 mins

It's shame that you can enjoy riding a motorcycle with only one other person. Zack and Ari aim to solve that problem by creating a two-wheeler capable of carrying the entire family - the very first Sport Utility Cycle or SUC - and then testing it with a road trip to the mountains.
