The residence is isolated and its head, Brother Jerome, tells him he cannot stay. Ellington is ill however and during his short stay meets someone who is being kept prisoner and howls constantly through the night. Ellington believes the Howling Man is being kept there for no good reason but Brother Jerome tells him of the man's true nature. The decision Ellington makes will haunt him for the rest of his life.

Some of her earliest childhood memories are of people looking away, horrified by her appearance. If not, her doctor has told she will be segregated with a colony of similar looking people. All that to say that truth is truly in the eye of the beholder.

In fact, Henry has a big heart and worries not only about the children he's disappointed at the store but about all of those children who will not get what they've asked for Christmas. When he comes across a large bag of gifts, everything changes for the kids and for himself as well.

In a dusty old-western town, a man is scheduled to be hanged after having been found guilty of accidentally killing a child while drunk. His father begs for mercy, but the marshal has no choice but to proceed with the sentence. Sykes, an odious salesman, takes advantage of the situation by selling the desperate father "magic dust," which he says will make the townsfolk take pity on his son. Soon though, events provide for an unexpected conclusion.

One person seems interested in what he has to say, but that person may have his own reasons for his behavior.

Not only to customers but even to his wife as well. When he tries to sell the man's car he finds the perfect customer.

She hears something on her roof and then finds a flying saucer, perhaps six or seven feet across from which emerges two small robots. She fights them as best she can and eventually succeeds in destroying their ship. The nature of the invaders however is not immediately obvious however.

He's slow to catch on to exactly what he's hearing but soon learns that his manager, Mr. Bagby, is having an affair and that a fellow employee, Miss Turner, is attracted to him. When he "hears" long-time employee Mr. Smithers plan to fill his briefcase with the bank's money and run off, Poole tells his boss. It doesn't quite go as planned but in the end it all works out well for Poole.

She has a recurring nightmare where she takes the elevator down to the morgue and is invited in by an ominous-sounding nurse, who tells her, 'room for one more, Honey'. Her doctor assures her there's nothing wrong with her physically and she's just overworked and tired. To Liz, the nightmares are very real. The doctor suggests she try to break the pattern to see if she can get them to stop. The next time she has the dream, she travels down to the morgue but the dream goes off as before. With her medical issues taken care of, and her Miami engagement a day away, it's time for Liz to leave. But is her nightmare over?

There's a reason he hears the music however, a reason a fellow boarder reminds him of.

Through a serious accident just outside his diner, Ace learns for the first time that Jimbo has telekinetic powers. Ace the gambler sees an easy way to make his fortune, and the three of them set off for Las Vegas. Jimbo has little trouble making roulette balls fall on the right number or making any point with a pair of dice. Ace learns the hard way, however, that there can be too much of a good thing.

Many in the wagon train are ready to turn back but Chris wants everyone to persevere. His son has had a fever for 11 days now and Chris goes off looking for water, only 100 yards or so from the others and suddenly finds himself in the present day. He can't quite bring himself to believe what he sees or where he is but those he meets believe he's a man from the past. The trip in time does have one positive outcome.

The four plan to go into suspended animation for approximately 100 years when they hope to awaken as extremely rich men with their heist long forgotten. When they awaken, they're not quite sure what year it is. One of them, De Cruz, has his eye on getting as much of the gold for himself as he possibly can. The world they have awakened in isn't exactly what they had hoped for.

Jamie Tennyson is an overly talkative member of a private men's club. He is challenged by fellow member Col. Archie Taylor to keep his mouth shut for one year. Should he do so, he would win $500,000. Taylor dislikes Tennyson and if nothing else, finds this a way to get a bit of peace and quiet at the club. Tennyson will live in a room in the club, under observation and will communicate in writing only. As the months go by, Taylor begins to worry that Tennyson may just succeed. He can't believe Tennyson's will but neither party proves to be completely honorable.

When Adam Grant is found guilty of first degree murder and sentenced he lashes out telling everyone that he will not be murdered again. Grant claims to be having a recurring nightmare where he is found guilty and executed. The characters around him change and so he argues that all of them will vanish if he dies. It leads newspaperman Paul Carson to question what is real and what might just be a figment of someone else's imagination. DA Henry Ritchie visits Grant in jail and decides to try and do something about his claims, no matter how far-fetched his claims might be.

Archibald Beechcroft thinks there are simply too many people in the world. He rides the subway to work and feels like he's a sardine in a tin can. Similarly with the elevators in the office tower where he works. A fellow employee gives him a book that suggests you can accomplish anything through concentration. He decides to make people go away simply by willing that they vanish. He gets rid of his landlady who is knocking at the door asking for the rent and has a lovely ride to work in an empty subway car. He's soon lonely and bored though he won't admit it. His solution to the problem doesn't quite work out as he had hoped.

After receiving reports of a crashed UFO, two State Troopers find tracks in the snow that suggest someone - or something - might have walked away from the crash. At a nearby diner, they find seven patrons though the driver of the bus outside says he had only six passengers. The driver doesn't have a passenger manifest and they try to sort out who is who. All claim to have been passengers on the bus but it appears there's definitely an alien in the group.

In a futuristic totalitarian world, meek and mild-mannered librarian Romney Wordsworth finds himself on trial for being obsolete. This future society has decided on everything people need to know. There is no God and there are no books. Society doesn't need librarians. Romney makes an impassioned plea about his rights and free will but the judge in the case, the Chancellor, will have nothing of it. The jury finds Romney obsolete and orders him to be executed. As he can choose the method of his death, Romney's plans include a little surprise for the Chancellor.
