The Simpsons family go on a number of journeys this season, starting with an early episode in which they travel to England and encounter a number of British celebrities: Sir Ian McKellen, "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling and then-prime minister Tony Blair. Later, Homer and Marge decide to ditch the kids for a romantic getaway, but as their plans keep getting ruined they bounce from Miami to Atlantic City to Niagara Falls. Elsewhere, Lisa becomes school president, Homer is attacked by a bear, Milhouse temporarily moves away, Marge becomes an alcoholic and Mr. Burns buys up Springfield's media outlets.
