Episode 1

The 14th edition of the reality series begins with 11 teams departing from the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, Cal., and flying to Switzerland, where they must bungee jump off the Verzasca Dam. Later, each team receives a clue by transporting 200 pounds of cheese down a steep hill using wooden cheese racks.

The 10 remaining teams travel from Switzerland to Germany, where a member of each duo must either paraglide off the top of a mountain or walk down a lengthy trail. Next, the teams choose between participating in a pie-throwing event or a scooter obstacle course before arriving at the pit stop in Austria.

The nine remaining teams travel to Romania. There, they search for buried coffins near Dracula's castle, and a first-place duo go to the rear of the pack when their plane is forced to make an unplanned landing.
Episode 4

The teams travel from Romania to Siberia on the fourth leg of the race. Once there, they must choose to either stack a large pile of wood or apply shutters to a house. Later, one person from each pair must ride a bobsled through a course while searching for letters to spell out the name of a Russian playwright. The duos also learn about a new twist, a blind U-turn, which leaves one team scrambling to stay in the competition.

The seven remaining teams continue to compete in Russia on the fifth leg of the race. Teams must choose between delivering a bride across town to a church or driving a snowplow through a tight course to receive a clue. Later, one person from each pair must strip off their outer clothes and brave frigid temperatures to take part in a run.

The teams travel from Russia to India on the sixth leg of the race. Once there, they must carry water in buckets to fill a trough and haul hay in traditional baskets to feed camels. Next, the racers choose between donning colorful costumes and dancing in the streets to earn tips, or biking through busy streets with large containers filled with hay and then searching through them to find a trinket. One duo perform a Speed Bump that requires them to paint an elephant.
Episode 7

The teams travel from India to Thailand on the seventh leg of the race. Once there, they pose with a tiger and perform a stunt with an elephant. Later, they must choose between pulling their partner in a rickshaw for two miles or helping to load barrels on a fishing boat. The region's extreme heat causes one racer to collapse at the pit stop.

The five remaining teams continue to compete in Thailand on the eighth leg of the race. Two teams lose valuable time when they leave their bags behind after completing a challenge. Later, the duos choose between fitting five people with false teeth or riding five miles in a taxi while singing karaoke with some locals.

The teams travel to China on the ninth leg of the race. Once there, the teams use diving cormorant birds to retrieve 10 fish from a river. Later, the duos choose between learning choreography for a dance or replicating Chinese-calligraphy characters. Tension mounts between two teams as they battle for position and engage in a war of words.

The final four teams continue to race in China, where the duos receive painful foot massages and choose between swimming 400 meters or performing a perfect synchronized dive in Beijing. One racer's fear of water threatens to end her journey.
Episode 11

The four remaining teams continue to race in Beijing on the penultimate leg of the race. The pairs choose between donning opera costumes and painting their faces or serving as waiters taking orders in Mandarin and repeating them to a chef. Later, one member of each team must eat exotic Chinese food, including fried scorpions and grasshoppers, and the contestants encounter the race's second U-Turn.
Episode 12
Sun, May 10, 2009 60 mins
The final three duos fly to Hawaii and race to the finish line in Maui. Before landing on the final mat, the teams must each carry a 140-pound pig to a luau, retrieve a clue from the ocean and find surfboards with pictures of previous race stops on them. The winning pair collect $1 million. Phil Keoghan is the host.
