After Grace invites herself over to Hannah's for a sleepover, Hannah finds herself jealous when Grace finds connects with the Rayburns in ways Hannah never has.

Hannah gets a glimpse into Grace's glamorous life when her mother, blows back into town and invites the Rayburns to a cocktail party. Grace is hopeful that she'll get to move out of her dorm at The Pines and move back home with her mother.

In an attempt to capture the 'perfect day,' Grace and Hannah skip school to get Sonny and Cher's autograph at the local radio station. Evelyn and David find themselves struggling to finish a project for a client when a nasty flu makes the rounds at their furniture factory. Meanwhile, Ida has a date with the butcher -- a Methodist, a fact which she hides from the rest of the family. When the girls run in to Ida at the diner, they end up making a deal: she won't tell that they skipped school, and they won't speak a word of her date.

Grace's new skateboard lands her in trouble. Hannah writes a letter to Grace's half-brother, Walker. The Rayburns have a house guest, Evelyn's brother, Larry.
