SOKO Wismar Season 8 Episodes

Episode 1

Auf eigene Faust

The armed robbery in the port may be the work of the two masked men with Icelandic accents who shot heavily injured Birgit Theede's barkeeper nearby a few days earlier. Birgit's ailing pub seems barely worth robbing. Birgit's son Nils Theede, a Hamburg police detective, returns to his native Wismar, eager to show to understaffed local police how it's done in the big city, but finds especially haughty Katrin utterly uncooperative, calling Nils Theede prejudiced. Reuter's team will find him competent and of unexpected future relevance.

Episode 2

Restschuld

In his mother's pub, commissioner Nils Theede 'rescues' customer Lili Zöllner from obnoxious Ralf Jessen, but declines her flirtation, focusing on busser Christina Drew. Next morning Lili Zöllner is found on the beach, fatally stabbed. Christina tells Nils Lili made enemies disappearing from Wismar a year ago, with the money parents, including Ralf Jessen, volunteered to transform her inherited villa into a daycare center for special needs kids. A London bankruptcy legally rendered her immune for claims. Guilt-consumed and with a crush on Christina, Nils goes solo, barely coordinated with his detective colleagues.

Episode 3

Das schwarze Schaf

Environmentalist Thorsten Rochow dies when his sabotaged boat explodes. Thorsten's action to increase wildlife protection in the Baltic made enemies of many fishermen, possibly even his brothers Björn and Robert Rochow, with whom he bickered over the inherited fishing boat, which Niels finds used for illegal quota excess, and fish shop run by high-pregnant sister in law Franziska, who hides her own secret. Holger Kracht invested every cent in a new aquaculture-site which Thorsten wanted forbidden on account of a protected species.

Episode 4

Neandertal ist überall

Members of the "Steinzeitfreunde Wismar" Stone Age reenactment society are shocked to find after their summer feast their fatally clubbed president Holger Dressel. All state he was the popular head of a harmonious club, except Gesine Uhl who reports back stage strife, as the Neolithic Village was near bankrupt and dependent on an anonymous sponsor, which last minute assured Holger Dressel's reelection standing against treasurer Sandra Scholl's husband Ronny, while Sandra Scholl had an affair with Holgerl.

Episode 5

Opa zahlt alles

Responding to an alert signal from Arnold Wisser, seniors nursing service employee Anne Schilling finds him dead at home, clasping a shred of a banknote, part of the 150 000 Euro he collected at the bank that morning, cash hence driven home by a teller Ricarda Noth. Niels spots she cared little for the deceased, actually trying to steal half of the cash. Years ago, Wisser caused a car crash killing his son and daughter in law. Orphaned grandson Jörgen bitterly refused any contact, returning Arnold's weekly letters unopened. Recently things changed, but how and why isn't easy to reconstruct, involving third parties.

Episode 6

Wunderkind

Football talent scout Walter Halberstamm is fatally stabbed in his motel a day after attending a D-youth team match at Eisern Wismar convinced him to try recruiting exceptionally talented Alex Bundschuh, aged twelve, for the boarding academy of a Bundesliga (German national top division) club. Alex's mother Doreen is skeptical whether to let the teen leave, while her partner Mario Konradsen sounds obsessed with Alex's lucrative career prospects. Halberstamm also met Alex's Wismar coach Jens Moll, Katrin's trusted ex, who opposed a deal and in whose sports bag the murder weapon is found after an anonymous call. NIles wins the boy's confidence and works out the missing element.

Episode 7

Später Frühling

Pre-teen Paul reports his dog Floppy poisoned, presumably by neighbor Mechthild Harms. She annoyed everyone and recently had another row with main adversary Dörte Overbek, whose corpse was found by single, adult in-living son Hans Peter Overbek, also poisoned. Mechthild claims Dörte Overbek organized all hostility against her. Hans Peter enjoyed 'hotel mother', but she also systematically sabotaged his love life, albeit he recently brought an also domineering girl find home, and may have found out she actually faked numerous allergies to appear needy. Only when the rare poison is identified, both cases connect.

Episode 8

Das Phantom

Justus Krambeer, senior advisor in the Foreign Ministry, asks chief Jan Reuter to investigate discretely the presumed stalking of his boss, parliamentary state secretary Dr. Dorothea Brahms, once Reuter's school mate, who found her and Justus staying in her sister Barbara Hinrichs's wood cabin. Suspect Karsten Nocke sends Brahms amorous mail and gifts, but surprises Lars and gets away with his service revolver. However new crimes disprove this supposition.

Episode 9

Zurück in die Wirklichkeit

Oliver Breitner (sixteen) fell from an abandoned harbor warehouse. Loner nerd Oliver's mother, attorney Cornelia Breitner, and her virtual fiance Henning Peters see nor motive for suicide, so it's likely murder by push, as bruises suggest. Close class friend Marie Gerber, a reckless environmental activist, convinced him to hack Bernd Fromlowitz's genetic lab, and he told her to have made a major find. Nils finds cash hidden in his teddy-bear and his notebook contains data stolen from Cornelia Breitner's law firm clients. Oliver's favorite teacher Armin Schneidewind was his other friend, and possible crime mentor. Key to the case is a surprising link from the seemingly unrelated past.

Episode 10

Umzug in den Tod

Ewald Simonis and his second wife Frau Nadja invited family and neighbors at a last party while disposing of most furniture before emigrating to Australia, but Ewald finds Nadja in the basement, fatally stabbed. Ewald's unwed ex Carola Behr was loudly bitter to be discarded, his adult son Timo to lose his virtual second mother and his father to a bossy, lazy gold-digger. Nadja lived mysteriously retired, but her surprising Hamburg past clarifies she kept moving and switching jobs to flee a tenacious, unidentified stalker, who may have attended the goodbye party, so the team grills the guests.

Episode 11

Tod eines Richters

A blood trail leads from the marina to the home of juvenile court judge Naumann, where his battered corpse lies. Accidental robbery is unlikely, so the team goes through his revenge-prone cases, notably the honest judicial error of falsely jailing Jens Keller, then 16, for a murder confessed by another years later, but having missed out of education Jens remains an outcast with girl friend providing a fake alibi. Naumann actually acted as their benefactor, but also was among the dozens of court officials absurdly charged with 'refusing justice' by Jens's pig-headed neighbor Weber, who still believes his release unjustified.

Episode 12

Abgeschminkt

Yvonne Renz, one of the local guest models fro a charitable erotic calendar for the local school, is fatally poisoned in the photo-studio by make up creme supplement, banned from use in nurseries. Schemer Yvonne made lots an enemies, also among the models, even discrediting Katja Blohm, who started the initiative. Yvonne recently returned broke from Ibiza. She was taken in by sister Anke Spilker, whose husband runs a nursery with her and teen daughter Meike. The Spilkers have their own dark family secrets.

Episode 13

Kammerflimmern

Timmermann 'breaks in' at Bettina Rauch's home, alerted by sister in law Daniela Carstensen who got no response arriving for their regular meeting: Daniela's corpse was locked in the broom closet. Daniela's employer, Bettina's husband Thomas Rauch, points at regular between between Bettina and teen daughter Ilka, who can't make up her mind and go for a career, missing the fatal day her second and last shot at a gardening exam due to failure phobia. Only the autopsy shows Daniela's alcoholism, which nobody admits having noticed. A surprise motive closes the case.

Episode 14

Ente kross

Harbor worker Peter Jessen was skull-smashed in his modest home, which was searched, not robbed. Jessen's job boss and domineering 'skat' (cards) buddy Jörn Schulte states Peter changed since the arrival of his Vietnamese mail order bride Bian Nguyen, who is missing. Third mate and dogsbody Volker Trebutt points out Jessen's sister Sabine, who had to leave the former parental home in his name after doing the household since their parents' death, thoroughly disliked the liaison, calling Bian a gold-digger. The team looks for her with the only other Asian she knew, her German language coach -no relative- Hung Nguyen, who reluctantly brings them to Bian, the case solution depending on a misunderstanding.

Episode 15

Dickes Mädchen

Sailing instructor Marius dies on the spot in the marina, his girlfriend Birthe Bruckner is fighting in hospital after they both drunk from the same bottle of cyanide-poisoned sports tonic. 'Fat' Natalie Stenwald (17) denies claims from several sailing club girls she bombarded Marius with hostile phone calls, but she definitely bickered with him in the club. Birthe's father, club owner Dr. Bruckner, opposed his only child dating Marius, who also blamed him for his mother's demise.

Episode 16

Tod eines Rettungsschwimmers

Nils skeptically investigates the apparent drowning and beaching on Poel island coast of fit student and amateur lifeguard Florian Hartmann. He was unlike to have gone into the water the fatal evening, being drunk after celebrating graduation with girl friend Julia Faber and buddy forever and fellow lifeguard Nikolas Langer. Florian and Nikolas planned a gap year in Australia, again combining study and the world's best lifeguard program. Chief Jan Reuter hears from his schoolmate, Florian's father Dirk, he opposed the boys plans, wanting to groom his son as firm CEO successor, having obtained a suitable diploma. Questioning beach barman Robin König and others raises doubts about anyone's alibi, yielding potential motives, including Julia's infidelity, and eventually the real story of Florian's last day and altered plans.

Episode 17

Zuckerbrot

Three salesmen are hospitalized shortly after return from their pharma firm's annual Estonian reward trip. Thomas Grosch dies first, murmuring "murder". Peter Brockmann and Jan Unger fight for their life, also having drunk poisoned gin at Unger's home. Estonian detective Urmas Savi, to Lena's Finnish taste, arrives by civilian car to help the investigation, as the trio was questioned with two more colleagues in the case of the suspicious fall to death of a brothel girl on their trip. The team works out who covered up what.

Episode 18

Das schönste Auto der Welt

Car buff Nils admires a rare "Podeus" old-timer, exhibited by a Swedish museum in production town Wismar, but it's stolen. Oldtimer-collector Jakob Jehlen was beaten in his hotel room. He was last seen with rival collector Herbert Kosterlitz and had an affair with Kosterlitz's wife Stefanie. Swedish private museum director Hendrik Sjöström has a dark past, and financial troubles, which seem solved as the insurance must pay out when the car is found as a burnt wreck. Ever-elusive 'retired' crook Hansen Hansen is hard to contact, but informative as ever.

Episode 19

Barvermögen

Henriette Schäfer was skull-smashed, apparently by a robber, when she sneaked back home from hospital to feed her beloved cage birds. Her businesslike son Holger says the loot from the ably opened safe is about 250 000 Euro as she mistrusted banks. Weakling second son Valentin Schäfer, utterly dominated by his Italian wife Gianna, received capital from Henriette to buy Pietro Moldani's ice creamery. The team investigates their family problems and diagnosis, involving nurse Anton Stark.

Episode 20

Die Fremde

A senior Asian woman's nude corpse drifts in a lake, fatally stabbed with a missing blade, worth a fortune being forged by a feudal Japanese master weapon smith but reputed to spell bad luck. A cabby drove her to the old cemetery, where her trail disappears, until linked over Tokyo to a Japanese death in Wismar years ago. Meanwhile Niels's mother Birgit Theede implores him to investigate unofficially the apparent disappearance of her inn's regular senior dinner guest Martha Plank, who once mentioned her sisters might poison her. Her sisters, who want to sell to co-inherited house and move to Italy, claim she left on a sudden trip, but Niels and Katrin check it out masquerading as chimney sweeps.

Episode 21

Vatertag

Fertility clinic director Dr. Niederländer was fatally skull-smashed with his microscope during a break-in,, but nothing seems to be to stolen, despite rich pickings. Niederländer's wife Britta recalls would be-mother Susanne Ahrens sued in vain to have her late husband's sperm released, but he hadn't signed the papers in time. Devoted firm accountant Florentine Straub calls Dr. Niederländer a demanding perfectionist, and in a bitter strife with clinic partner Dirk Öllers Streit whether to start a Bavarian branch. Further investigation reveals an unusual murder weapon and a specific theft.

Episode 22

Der letzte Pirat

A Wismar event bureau engaged GDR has-been movie star Harry Mohn, Katrin's youth idol, to draw crowds to an open air theater pirates play. It's promptly canceled by producer Manuela Schween after director Klaas Michelsen finds young co-starlet Nora Waller's corpse on the beach. The insurance pay-out now spares her firm a likely bankruptcy, and she fraudulently transferred funds 'as cash facility'. Harry Mohn denies an alleged affair with Nora Waller, as Klaas Michelsen denies couch-casting her.

Episode 23

Brandbeschleuniger

On duty, firefighter Stefan Melfert is shocked to be sent to the apartment block he inherited, but rents to tenant families, living elsewhere while they spend every dime on renovations, and badly under-insured. Next morning, former tenant Iris Zielke is found burnt in the rubble, fiance Jürgen Polder claims to ignores why she returned there, but neighbor Peter Rilling heard them row that night. It could be a strike from the apparent pyromaniac who made no victims at several other places recently. 'Rent nomad' Werner Schöbel, who plays procedural games until he's evicted for paying no rent while filing complaints, threatened Melfert after his expedient removal and lived near most arson sites, he even smokes the type of cigar used as slow fuse.

Episode 24

Die Stimme

Erik Binz casually carries into the precinct the corpse of a fellow teen knave, whom he found in the supply van of the shop he runs with sister Anke, where it was a regular client: Till. She explains simpleton Erik Binz is the school youth's favorite laughing stock. he keeps referring to a voice in his head, which doesn't have his shy, gentle nature. Till's estranged father Gregor Westermann is barely shocked by the murder of his 'troublesome' knave, in whose room pictures are found suggesting gay abuse by his teacher Thorsten Mischnik. Interpreting the 'internal voice' proves key to the case.

Episode 25
