In the premiere series of this comedy-drama, an error sends new postal employee Shane (Kristin Booth) to the Dead Letter Office, which is staffed by an eccentric crew who attempt to deliver every piece of misdirected mail. Shane finds herself moved by a letter and soon becomes one of these mail detectives, working alongside Oliver (Eric Mabius), Rita (Crystal Lowe) and Norman (Geoff Gustafson). Among some of the letters they try to deliver are a potentially life-changing love letter and a letter to a soldier who helped save a woman's life in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Rita enters the Miss Special Delivery Pageant and faces some fierce competition. Guest stars this season include Valerie Harper, Carol Burnett, Della Reese, Marilu Henner and Valerie Bertinelli.
