Katie has trouble finding work.She applies for several jobs but Eric and Liz are hired at the gym and cookie store over her, and she doesn't get a job at the Teen Machine. When she hears that Media Mania is looking for a computer bookkeeper, she lies on her application to get the job. But, when she causes the computer to crash, her boss figures out Katie's lie and fires her, leaving her despondent that no one wants her as an employee. Will a motivational speech from Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller help Katie find her way?

Meanwhile, Eric convinces Mr. Belding to let him cover the girls' swim team for the school radio station so he can get close to a girl he likes.

And Liz, who got a part in the play with one line, drives Ryan crazy worrying about how her performance will be.
