A devoted teacher and husband, Lou Mazzuchelli (Josh Radnor), decides to take command of the school's uninspired theater department and revamp it. Along his side is Tracey Wolfe (Rosie Perez), working as the assistant director. Together, the duo wants to reinvent the school's presentations and decide to perform the musical "Spring Awakening", a choice that sparks controversy among some parents and faculty.
