Episode 1
Mr. Bagnall of the law defence film of Bagnall and Dunbar has retired leaving Bruce Dunbar to run the firm alone. Newly qualified Theodore Gulliver is hired as his replacement and without any experience thrown in at the deep end.
Episode 2
Dunbar explains T.I.C.'s (taken into consideration) as a way of wiping the slate clean of crimes. Unfortunately Gulliver falls foul of the T.I.C.'s given by Ishanti Winstanley as they have been already claimed by Stanton Police.
Episode 3
Gulliver tries to get a name from juvenile female who's drug dealer boyfriend already has bail. Sarah Beckenham is put on the spot when Supt. Jackson wants to prosecute a juvenile police killer while his accomplice goes free.
Episode 4
Dunbar gets little sympathy when his house burgled. Gulliver and Beckenham lock horns over Leanne Gates, a drug addict who stole goods worth £1 but has previous convictions. Ron the Con runs rings around the legal system.
Episode 5
Dunbar finds himself defending prostitute Maggie Lancaster, who is arrested for assault after an accident using love beads. Gulliver represents pensioner Tom Passmore for perverting the cause of justice but won't stop talking.
Episode 6
When Dunbar's client William Duhaney takes a hostage he is called into talk him down. Gulliver is conflicted when his client John Stark admits he has full blown AIDS and hasn't told his girlfriend but wants out on bail.
Episode 7
Gulliver represents a blind woman accused of inciting racial hatred. When he meets Connor Reilly for his court date he's a medicated zombie. Dunbar defends a battered wife for hitting her children but fears her husband will kill her.
Episode 8
Supt. Jackson insists on Gulliver taking Foad Mellouk as a client, after he is arrested as potential terrorist. With all his rights suspended truth is thrown out of the door. Dunbar defends a shoplifter who knows his rights.
Episode 9
Gulliver is getting fed up with dealing with low life criminals, so when his father visits with an offer of work at another practice, and a possible partnership he seems ripe for a move. However working with Dunbar has changed him.
Episode 10
Gulliver finds himself fighting for a family facing eviction after they broke the terms of their ASBO. Dunbar wants to stop 14-year-old Kenny Walsh from going to jail when he breaks the terms of his anti social behaviour order.
Episode 11
Bagnall and Dunbar are in financial trouble. Hunters and Gray advertise on television and expanding their business. Hunter offers Dunbar financial help. Gulliver is left babysitting when his client Sheila Mole disappears.
Episode 12
Janey Wallace quits Bagnall and Dunbar to work as a para-legal with the Crown Prosecution Service. Kenny Walsh is charged with murder after the person he bottled dies. Dunbar declines to defend him and gives the case to Gulliver,
