Twenty-eight year old Justin has given up on love in being too preoccupied with his music business career as a singer, songwriter and producer. His Mom Mary, however, is determined to marry Justin off to someone exactly like her, her determination which she is certain will make it so. In believing his Mom not knowing the type of woman he is looking for, Justin is a little more skeptical about Mom's abilities in this matter, especially as she believes he doesn't know who he's looking for. He is certain though about where she will go looking for his potential mate, he not wrong in this regard. In meeting Justin and Mary, Carmelia has greater faith in Mary's abilities in she seeing her as a force of nature. Before Justin makes his decision about who he will go on a second date with, the post-date meet-up takes an unexpected twist.

Twenty-two year old professional comedienne Adrienne's biggest fan is her mother, Ruth. Adrienne has stopped dating in the disasters that have been her latest dates which have included some hecklers. She believes as a comedienne, she attracts proverbial comedians which isn't what she wants in a relationship. Both Carmelia and Ruth have similar views on who would be a good match for Adrienne, although in "Mafia Mom" Ruth's competitive nature, she is holding her cards close to her chest. While Carmelia has a "Patrick" and a database of men from which to choose, Ruth has her own similar strategies in employing her own "Patricks" in a more old-fashioned means of finding a potential date.

As a gay man, twenty-eight year old nursing student Stephen feels blessed that his mom Lori is invested in his love life. In his and Lori's joint outlook, Stephen is looking for a long term relationship as opposed to a one night stand. While he is looking for someone who takes care of himself physically (i.e. good looking) in working toward a job in a health related profession, he is arguably more interested in finding someone with who he has an emotional connection. Despite being somewhat outside of her element in looking for a potential match for Stephen in being outside the gay world, Lori believes she has the upper hand over Carmelia in knowing her son. Carmelia also believes the same, that is until she makes her pick of a match. Regardless, Carmelia brings in a specialist for that added insurance that her pick is Stephen's choice in the end.

However they differ on one fundamental point regarding finding a woman for him: she wants him to settle down, while he doesn't want to get married, at least not yet. Michele still believes she knows what's best for him. And beyond stating his preference for short blondes, Carmelia comes away from her interview with Moshe learning one primary thing: he doesn't know what he wants, which makes her life more difficult. She does take one morsel of information which she uses as a springboard: that he generally dates women in the industry, meaning that she will try and find someone as far removed personality-wise from that barfly/night-life as his dating life hasn't worked thus far. Will Carmelia's strategy work or will her pick be too far removed from his sensibilities?

Twenty-five year old Dianne, a flight attendant and aspiring actress, doesn't have much hope that her fiery mother, Mexican national fitness instructor Maribel, will find her an appropriate date in Maribel's primary criterion. Maribel is a big believer in the power of body chemistry, i.e. the match of pheromones, Dianne not putting it past her mother to smell the potential dates. Dianne has more faith in Carmelia in being a professional with a track record. Dianne may not have much experience to compare her dates in that beyond having a definite set of likes and dislikes in men, she doesn't think she's ever been on what would be considered a proper date. Both Maribel and Carmelia turn to aspects of Dianne's life either to find a date and/or for the date itself. While both Mom and Matchmaker are confident about how their choice performs, one of the two can admit Dianne's pick may come down to pure personal preference.

This week it's not Mom Vs. Matchmaker but Grandmom Vs. Matchmaker in that feisty Flo will be looking for a date for her grandson, twenty-seven year old Marketing Manager and musician Justin. Justin trusts his Grandmom, someone who he feels he can shoot the breeze with while having drinks. The other reason he feels confident in her is that she is always checking out the ladies, arguably on his behalf. After her interview with him, Carmelia believes she has a good handle on what Justin is looking for in a woman. What both Grandmom and Matchmaker hone in on is a woman with confidence, so it indeed may be a battle of the titans, both with reference to Grandmom and Matchmaker, as well as the woman each picks for Justin.

Anne believes that her twenty-four year old dancer/cheerleader daughter Leanne is too picky when it comes to men, which has led to a sparse dating life and she only having brought two guys home ever, both who Anne liked. Anne admits that she has little experience in looking for men in being married now for three and a half decades, so she will approach the process like she approaches her work as a scientist (biologist). She knows that she has her work cut out for her as Carmelia will probably have a computer and a database of men from which to choose. After her interview with Leanne, Carmelia believes she doesn't know who she wants, and thus Carmelia will choose a man that will be good for her. And Leanne is skeptical about the entire process, especially as she is not looking forward to the "blind" part of the dating process.

Nurse Susan and her twenty-seven year old butcher son James are friends, but he is skeptical in her ability to find him a suitable date. Indeed, he winces when she talks about love as it would just be a first date. Beyond the somewhat obvious that the potential she would probably not be a vegetarian or vegan, although James would like people in general to know that being a butcher is more than just carving up meat, both Susan and Carmelia focus in on another key aspect of James' life: that he is a sports enthusiast, both participating in and watching. While Carmelia doesn't need Patrick's help in believing she has the perfect person for James, a client she has long had her radar on to set up, Susan has a bit more trouble in the process in acting as the dating intermediary for her son.
