English survival star Bear Grylls is dropped by helicopter, as befits a marines veteran, offshore a desolate coastal part of the land of his Irish ancestors. After climbing the rocky cliffs, he must live on the grim, hardly fertile land. Scarse vegetation provides little cover from wind and precipitation while gathering a meager meal, but he manages to catch and skin a sheep, a nutritious mega-boon. Lacking building material for another shelter, he opts for a small cave, but it proves leaky, so his fire is drowned. Luckily he had roughly prepared the sheep skin as a sleeping bag. It even serves a floating raft when he has to cross a near-icy lake, near-naked to keep his cloths dry during a frozen swim.

Episode 7
Mon, Jan 19, 200944 mins
An Air Rescue helicopter drops Bear onto a frozen plateau in ? Canada's most desolate Yukon territory. He works his way down icy slopes and a glacier, nearly trapped in moving ice cave crevasses, painfully working down a whippy tree. He spends the night in a 'barricaded' bear cave, with a fire to eat the trout he caught in a beaver dam lake. Bear nearly crashes to his end from slippery log, has more then his share of rapids and finds shelter in an abandoned wolverine hunters-cabin. Reaching the coast, he improvises a raft, which proves mysteriously leaky; and reaches a melting iceberg-offshoot, making a signal fire to attract a passing ship which he must hop onto most dangerously.

Deep in the Oregon wilderness, Bear takes on Hells Canyon -- the deepest river canyon in the world. Huge snowdrifts, frozen lakes, burnt out forests, 150 foot cliffs and the frigid white water rapids of the Snake River stand between him and civilization.

Episode 9
Mon, Feb 2, 200944 mins
Anxiously, Bear swims for his life after diving from a helicopter in the sharks-infested around an uninhabited island offshore the Dominican republic (half of Hispaniola island). He finds it too barren even for his survival expertise, given the lack of potable water. So he constructs a seaworthy raft to reach the main island 5 miles across Caribbean water. Landing starts hard due to the coast being a saline mangroves forest, infested with aggressive mosquitoes like the sloping coast. Next an arid, scotching wilderness, as hard and exhausting to work his way trough, full of sharp cacti, thorns and poisonous wildlife like a giant centipede. Finally reaching a stream, he catches edible (if cooked) shrimp and backtracks the flow to a steep canyon with wild rapids, requiring him to use vines to climb down. Enjoying a dream meal having branch-throw-killed wild fowl he must built a shelter for the heavy rain in a hammock suspended under a steep slope. A wandered-by tarantula becomes his breakfast, before vines allow him to climb up and continue to habitable pasture land.
