Bear demonstrates the painful climbing of date palms and the digging for water, even how to escape from surprising quicksand.

Bear continues his Saharan adventure over the Moroccan border in the Atlas foothills. he enjoys Berber hospitality and learns some of their millennial survival tricks. He adopts their all but picky diet, including such stomach-turning 'delicacies' as goat bollocks, beetles, viper, frog and fat from the hump of a dead old camel he received as their parting gift. He scares off predators by urinating and gets thirsty enough to drink the stomach fluid of the camel. The scorching heat and tricky terrain, with rocky cliffs and endless sand pans tests even his endurance grimly.

On the Caribbean coast, Bear had another Panamanian adventure. The jungle tribe of Embera are utter specialists in survival, dealing with both wildlife and humans, from conquistadors to modern pirates. A young chief, his father and son teach bear the use of bows and blowpipes with frog poison darts. Bear sets out into the dense jungle and marshland, which pose challenges but also provides several answers like cures, bug-repellent and building materials to bows for fishing.

A helicopter deposes Bear on a frosty glacier in icy winter-land Patagonia, almost as large as Greenland and cold like Antarctica. He demonstrates the grave dangers of traitorous crevasses, frost bite and avalanche, simulating the latter. Bear shows how to survive by hastily digging an igloo-like den to avoid the wind, urinate in a bottle, finally get down by mini-paraglider. It's an uncomfortable landing in beeches of the sub-alpine forest, which yields little and unsavory foods, like crest, beetles and worms. He follows a river, which surges into a formidable fall, which he descends abseiling. Passing the stinking, icy bog is even less pleasant. Finally he tries to cross the wide stream by building a raft, which is wobbly and too deep,so he gets soaked, and lacking wind for once paddling would take too long, so he stuffs upper clothing in his backpack to swim back and warm up at the fire.

Bear abseils from a helicopter into the stinking, dead swamps on Sumatra's western coast, created by the wall of brine during the tsunami. He's eager to climb out into the life part, fearing salty crocodiles, on to jungle land, hindered by high pandan reeds, but manages to catch by hand a monitor (large lizard), which makes a major meal, ideal to supplement an insects-based diet, but needs cooking, and starting a fire in this dam land takes all his skill. A strong vine enables him to improvise an abseiling rope down a steep river side, it breaks just deep enough. He enjoys any opportunity for personal hygiene, to avoid skin problems, builds a 'nest' safely high up a giant tree and finds wild bananas, but fails to catch fish in his stripped-off trousers due to the rain. Working through the jungle, he catches, decapitated and eats raw a venomous mangrove snake. Finally a perilous vines descent down a steep cliff gets him to civilization: a rice field.
