Meanwhile, Hal's frequent competition with a neighbor who always outdoes his Christmas decorations, includes a new element to his holiday decorations memorializing the Battle of Pearl Harbor.

Francis also is in town for Dewey's birthday, and now that he's old enough he can finally take the initiation for Full Brotherhood.

Unable to function without Dewey, Buseys special needs class panics and takes their teacher hostage when he threatens to call the police on one of the kids for a minor infraction. After other faculty members are taken, a return visit from Dewey accompanied by Francis.

The boys write out a beauty pageant application for Lois as a joke, but she takes it seriously and competes to win. Hal decides to help her. Malcolm finds out Mr. Herkabe is one of the judges, and is forced to do his bidding in order to avoid him throwing the competition. After Reese finds a guide of what makes a person beautiful, he realizes he is a perfect match.
