The Passenger

Magnum and Higgins help a woman who suspects the car crash that killed her husband was not an accident. IA traffic light camera recorded a blonde woman in the passenger seat of the man's car just minutes before the crash, but still infidelity isn't credible. Thomas Magnum and Higgins decide to keep their new, enjoyed romance hidden from their friends. Rick and T.C. convince Katsumoto to fight for his badge, after Gordon was fired from HPD for breaking a man out of prison to help rescue his kidnapped ex-wife. Magnum learns his former Navy Captain Buck Greene, who has not been seen for several days, was kidnapped by a group of men who actually demanded him to reveal the location of Magnum, Rick and T.C.

Magnum challenges the police's initial refusal to autopsy his team's retired Captain Buck Greene, indeed killed under torture to reveal the mates. Higgins agrees to help find Rick's friend and beverages supplier, from whom a rare Japanese whiskey crate (worth $250,000) was stolen. They find him murdered at his home, and the killers take them hostage. Thomas accepts the find-the-whiskey-as-ransom-or-else job and locates the fiend, while working out who actually stole the crate. Meanwhile, suspended Katsumoto moonlights as security agent for a Korean pop star and has a hard time, like Thomas, getting his successor Chris Childs to help investigate a suspicious attempt as the culprit, who stabbed Gordon, and never made it to police custody..

Magnum and Higgins search for Sandra Perez, a workaholic solar power company CFO, who has mysteriously gone missing on the day of a major investors event. Her founding business partner, CEO Jordan Hines, hires Magnum and Juliette to investigate. When Higgins finds Sandra dead, a capital management company backed by big oil is the initial suspect, Thomas clears the cleaner arrested by Childs for posthumously collecting due money by faked check. An affair with Hines makes his wife an equal suspect, and a third plus false confession. Magnum isn't surprised when Gordon says he can't get an HPD file that may help with the case of Captain Greene's death, but when Gordon potentially compromising his reinstatement hearing by coming through for Thomas. Rick braces for a visit from his youngest sister, eternal beggar screw-up Ruthie, now a success and about to marry another woman. T.C. fire woman lover Mahina insists on no secrets.

Magnum enlists Gordon's help in locating David Carter, a family father who suddenly disappeared on vacation with wife Dana and daughter Mia. They learn the man is unwilling to be found, frantic, using the stolen identity of a dead man since ten years, and find out about the mob connection which catches up with him in goon-shapes. Higgins and Kumu help a spoiled-rotten rich woman who believes her cherished, badly trained dog unexpectedly died, having eaten lemon squares laced with strychnine, probably meant for the dog's even less popular owner, who recently broke up an engagement, yet find the motive twisted further. Rick finds evidence that Magnum is 'seeing' someone all the way into bed, but he and T.C. and aren't yet sure that it's Higgins.

Magnum and Higgins investigate the robbery of elderly Gus Urima by two masked men broke in his home, one of whom he surprisingly killed, suddenly pulled a gun. The second got away with some valuables, notably a precious necklace that belonged to Gus's late wife. With the police unable to help, Gus, his daughter Kerry and greedy son Brent turn to Higgins for help. While Higgins looks into the thieves, Magnum meets up with a woman named Verna who wants help finding her estranged son, who is none other then T.C., whom he can barely convince to meet her, as Cade advises from experience.

Magnum and Rick are shocked to discovery in the Captain Greene case that Lewis Peele was bribed to lie about Greene, so Thomas demands his assistance finding the men that had Greene murdered. He stops at nothing, even abduction and torture-threats, but the goon realizes he's taken by one of his targets and doesn't have a direct lead. Higgins and T.C. go help eccentric billionaire Nolan Pierce find the owner of a pesky drone harassing him in his half-fortified Maul estate, which gets live attackers, but his private plane pilot's dark past proves crucial. Shammy helps Kumu after decorations made of precious wood are stolen from La Mariana. The culprit, a knave, is caught quickly, but Kumu soon learns of the teen's family-loyal motivation.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Magnum and Higgins are hired by the fiancee of a deceased orderly in a psychiatric hospital, duly mistrusting his death was listed as suicide. Higgins goes undercover impersonating a newly hired psychotherapist. She can't make sense of patients even if responsive but jointly with Thomas finds a lead on a patient kept over-medicated to be plundered and is overpowered herself by the surprising murderer. Having forced Magnum to hand over the search for the CIA-linked fiends who are after Thomas, Rick and T.C., HPD detective Childs follows up on leads regarding Cane but dies when a cover house explodes. Soon, one of the mercenaries corners T.C. at his heli-site and shoots him into hospital. Gordon and his teen son are on the mainland, to visit a college that Dennis considers attending. Father's past and unprovoked harassment in a restaurant by a racist has Dennis reconsidering his 'freedom' choice for a school far from Hawaii.

Charlie Foxtrot

While T.C. lay bleeding out from a gunshot wound, Rick is abducted in a car booth, fails to escape but managed to get a message to Magnum that the mercenaries who are set on avenging the death of Ahmad Hadid are after all of them. Magnum gets the message just in time to thwart an attack at Robin's Nest. Juliette identifies the mastermind of the plot as retired agent Nadine Amherst, who was once Hadid's CIA handler before forming a romantic bond with him and then giving birth to their son after Hadid was killed. Magnum engineers a prison escape for one of the mercenaries, whom he follows to Nadine and Rick. Higgins, Gordon and HPD help Magnum to rescue Rick, arresting Nadine and her cahoots. T.C. wakes up in a hospital alive, happy to see Cade and Kumu, but may need their help being paralyzed beneath the waist, hopefully only temporarily.

His phone can't be hacked, so Thomas must break in to his office, but his latest willing 'victim' turns out a Chinese spy after his lab research data. Meanwhile Katsumoto's survival camping weekend with Dennis, about to study on the continent, is joined by TC and Cade, who confides he doesn't plan to go to college, rather join the Marines. Rick eagerly joined, bringing glamping luxuries, but abandons those when stolen by the son of a homeless man who lives in the forest.
