Magnum is called by a woman when he goes to meet her, he discovers she's missing, so he tries to find her. Higgins is enjoying her time in Kenya but when the doctors' medical supplies are stolen she tries to get it back. But her old employers inform her that the people who stole them are very dangerous. And they tell her to leave Kenya. Magnum discovers some people who were killed and the woman he seeks was there. They learn that 2 shooters are responsible and Magnum's client is the target. When Suzy gets an opportunity that has her leaving, Rick admits his feelings.

Magnum and Higgins, now his grumpy partner, take the case of construction worker Makoa, whose fresh widow rejects the official investigations calling his fatal fall, atypically without protection gear, an accident. He was an ex-con, but his boss lies about a program to hire paroled ones, covering up a major scam. On Shammy's maiden flight as TC's co-pilot and tourist guide, their two clients force them at gun-point to land on Molokai, in order to retrieve a dumped load of drugs, but it's missing and the boys must fight and call for help despite a sabotaged radio in order not to be eliminated.

Asian caddie hires Magnum to save his promising pro golf career by disproving he accusation he stole at least one of several members' golf clubs bags at the island's most prestigious country club. He goes undercover as deputy barman under Rick, who has connections, while Higgins impersonates a VIP exchange 'member'. They find the missing, overweight golf bags, transported by a specialized firm, are a cover for ivory smuggle. They must hastily track it down, as the fiends kidnap Trevor as blackmail chip. TC runs Rick's bar interim and plays along with hustler Jin, who pretended owning it and more businesses to his doting deaf niece. Higgins did a job for MI6, but is told that's just the beginning and her lover Ethan prolongs his Kenyan mission half a year.

Young, wealthy widower Aiden Walker hires Magnum to disprove his parents' doubts about his hasty marriage the next day to Serena, who soon proves more than dubious, a false identity for a hired killer, who escapes after fighting Higgins and gets a surprisingly 'happy' end. Returning to his bar, unsuspecting Rick finds busboy Cade Jensen sleeping there and chases him; fellow abandoned son TC resolves to find the kid, at least to get his last paycheck, with Katsumoto and Kumu's help, then convinces him to resume his job and move into the helicopter base.

A journalist, fearing his source in Hawaii may be in danger having led him to write an article about a deceased Jane Doe, hires Magnum to check if she's alright, saying the source believed there was something bigger behind the woman's death, but she's now gone quiet. Magnum handles the case without Higgins, who lies about needing to meet with immigration concerning her trip to Kenya. Higgins actually has another assignment from MI6 to trap a rogue agent, later learning she may be a target as files were stolen. Robbie Nelson, Rick's mischievous childhood friend from Chicago, comes to Hawaii needing help restarting his life after several stints in prison. Rick waves TC's warnings about an old friend returning when he needs expensive help, as Robbie's life was wrecked by taking to blame and jail alone for a robbery they committed so Rick cold escape, but later learns Robbie is the FBI's prime suspect in a murder case.

FBI Agent Ray Sloane demands Rick's help to persecute his buddy Robbie for a murder, but Rick stands by him blindly. Magnum gets his HPD lover Lia to have her ex Sloane show Thomas it's the murder of another FBI agent. However Magnus finds Sloane has neither proof nor a mandate, but his linking to Alabanian mobsters proves painfully relevant. Meanwhile Higgins finds elderly housekeeper Kumu an ideal undercover to investigate first the investment fraud with savings at a retirement home, only client Vicky's father Jospeh's case his entire life-savings, by Ron Underhill, and then, with HPD, the latter's murder by erectile medication overdose.

Rick's sports car exploded with Robbie in it; proof the Albanian mob tracked him down and will probably also attack Rick, who Katsumoto insists on guarding, having 'rogue' FBI agent Ray Sloane removed. Higgins meanwhile is on a mission for MI6 to capture rogue agent Sean Cavendish and eliminate his criminal agency, or at least destroy its dangerous files, but he has her abducted and forces her to torture a captured MI6 executive. Luckily Thomas ignores her request to be left alone and tracks her down, just in time to help her escape and deal with the fiends.

Magnum and Higgins are hired to apprehend a man who failed to show up in court, when they do they try to leave him at HPD but they can't because their system is on the fritz. While they wait, the system completely breaks down: it was hacked and the hacker is demanding a large sum. Higgins and Magnum try to help, finding the hacked began at Lia's computer which makes Magnum weary. When she disappears Magnum finds her with a crime boss, when he talks to her, he learns a secret she's been keeping and that she suspects who the hacker is. They eventually learn that extortion is not what's going on. Kumu, Rick and T.C. try to get Christmas dinner ready but when they give Cade an unusual present, he is not exactly ecstatic, which makes them wonder if he likes it or not.

Magnum gets Higgins to admit sexy dreams about him during a stakeout looking for proof of infidelity for a new client. They get it Thomas asks Rick to serve the man with divorce papers, which proves quite hard. In the meantime, an unknown man at a coffee shop surreptitiously left a memory card in the purse of a girl he "accidentally" ran into and seduced. The girl engages Higgins and Magnum to track him down for the purposes of pursuing him romantically, but they later learn the man stolen an identity, later that he is out to avenge his sister's death on a dirty pharmaceutical company which dodged medical tests, so they infiltrate there. Troubled by persistent dreams, Higgins asks her psychiatrist for another appointment.

A nun calls Magnum and Higgins and tells them that the church is trying to raise funds for a girl's medical treatment. She tells them someone left a bag full of cash at the church. She wants them to find out where the money came from as the money has blood on it. They talk to Jin who thinks the money was in the possession of a money launderer. They talk to the launderer who says he passed it to the courier. They find the courier shot. They eventually find the one who left the money who's an ex-con. He says that someone he knew from prison who works for whom the money belongs to. And they planned to steal and there was a falling out. They learn that one of them was shot and they decided to seek medical assistance from a veterinary clinic and among the people they are holding there is Jin. Magnum and Higgins try to help but through Jin they learn there's an enforcer trying to recover it who will do whatever he has to get it.

T.C. offers to foster Cade, after Gordon discovered Cade was not in social care and was living in T.C.'s hangar office, requiring him to report to social services, who won't allow the kid living 'alone'. Investigating the disappearance of one of Shammy's friends, Magnum and Higgins discover he was deliberately killed in a hit and run and uncovering an insurance scam. Higgins gives ownership of Robin's Nest back to Robin Masters because MI6 has fast-tracked her US citizenship. Rick shows everyone Suzy's pre-natal scan. Lia and Magnum break up.

A Judge being considered for the Hawaiian Supreme Court hires Magnum and Higgins to help. It seems someone has discovered a secret from her past and is blackmailing her to fix a murder trial. They learn that a fixer is behind it, but the question is on whose behalf, the defendant? The lawyer? They try to find out before the Judge has to decide to give in to the demand. Meanwhile Rick is worrying about impending fatherhood and is desperate to find a way to raise his income.

Gordon Katsumoto tells T.C. he's obligated to try and find Cade's mother before his adoption of the swell knave, who is even settling in at school, can be finalized. This investigation leads them to discover that Cade's junkie mother didn't abandon him but perished in a fire after blacking out from drug use. Thomas is hired by the bail bondsman who years ago gave Magnum some of his first cases, now to track down a woman who fled following a possession charge, compromising her $250,000 bail. Thomas's ex Lia Kaleo helps on the HPD side, but worries about her already tarnished reputation when it's suspected that HPD narcotics detective Wayne Nix may be involved. Magnum learns the bondsman's client is pregnant and blackmailed to give up her baby to the narcotics detective and his wife Heather, who are infertile.

Thomas is surprised when at a sushi bar owner is not his client, but acts as front for the Yakuza, with recently released giant henchman Tower frisking him before an audience with elusive crime lord Osi Shima, who gives magnum eight hours to find his kidnapped son and future heir Kato, to earn the antidote for a fatal poison served in the sushi. Contact with police or Higgins is forbidden, instead he gets escorted by Tower and Shima's Vietnamese female bodyguard Min, who turns out an undercover cop. Rick, Higgins and T.C. force the sushi man to point them to the poison supplier, who says Shima doesn't have the antidote either, but knows the right lab and temporary fix medication. Magnum rapidly finds Kato's trail and a link to the rival Korean mob, with whom Shima has a truce threatened since a drugs delivery went missing, but works out the real dark ploys and chooses to keep risking his life just to prevent collateral damage.

Thomas is barely recovered from his Yakuza poisoning when Nora Simmons hires him and Higgins to find her missing adolescent son Ryder, off the rails since his father died, now the prime suspect -sue to security footage- for a bombing causing three fatal and over twenty wounded victims, to see he's arrested 'safely'. Magnum isn't satisfied delivering the kid, who hid in his late father's sold yacht, to Gordon, who agrees his confession is bogus, but works out how his confident ex-con father-figure neighbor Pete Ashby's orchid nursery was key in the fertilizer bomb plan, which turns out to have a more mundane second chapter. Meanwhile, T.C. recognizes firefighter Mahina as a fine date he never phoned back due to circumstances.

Magnum is visiting Bob, a terminally ill Vietnam vet, and wins his confidence -over steak with bourbon- to reunites him with his estranged once-doted draft-dodged brother Daddy, who hired Thomas. Higgins is hired by teen brat Ella Bolton, to investigate the triple homicide that her late mother had been working on as last police case. Despite her father Cole objecting to it all, hence she had a friend impersonate him, indirectly cued by surviving son Adam Akamu, they discover one murdered parent had an affair with a neighbor, only not his suspect but Clara Bolton, who had killed them all including accidentally her lover. Clara tries to gas herself and Higgins, but they are rescued by Gordon, who already discover her criminal record. Rick is delighted when Suzy finally returns, but she wants to live apart for fear of a breakup wrecking their parenting of the unborn.

Magnum earns the surviving, ultimately-reconciled brother Danny Braddock's further gratitude by arranging a full military memorial service for fellow veteran Bob. Higgins starts a friendship with nosy Ella's father, Cole. The body of Bruce Fletcher is discovered in a shallow forest grave and Magnum's late teammate Sebastian Nuzo is a suspect. Magnum and Higgins discover they were partners in an underwater salvage operation, and had accidentally found a sunken shipping container full of dead immigrants. Rolling up the human trafficking ring clears Nuzo's name.

A disoriented man hires Magnum and Higgins to investigate a crime he doesn't remember after he woke up on the beach covered in blood. Also, T.C. is taken aback when Cade's biological grandmother makes a surprise visit, and Rick's feelings for Suzy grow stronger as they prepare for the birth of their first child.

Gordon Katsumoto is hooded and abducted by goons, just to show him they hold his ex-wife Beth, blackmailing Gordon to visit and murder his ex-partner Whelan, who is in maximal security prison for murder. Contacted in secret, Magnum and Higgins help Gordon break Whelan out of prison and discover that the blackmailer is Ray Nasano and ordered Gordon's sister Kim's death by fake accident as a cynical distraction. They enlist the veteran buddies to help rescue Beth and catch Ray, but Gordon is suspended from HPD. Meanwhile Suzy gives birth to a baby girl. Higgins and Magnum finally dare admit their feelings, sealed by a kiss.
