22 Episodes 2006 - 2007
The crime drama's sixth season is accented by several cast changes: out are Jamey Sheridan as Capt. Deakins and Annabella Sciorra as Det. Carolyn Barek, and in are Eric Bogosian as Capt. Ross and freckle-faced Julianne Nicholson (from Dick Wolf's short-lived "Conviction") as Det. Megan Wheeler, who brings plenty of emotional baggage with her when she partners with Mike Logan (Chris Noth). Dets. Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Alexandra Eames (Kathryn Erbe) are still on-hand, of course, and—as in Season 5—the two duos alternate episodes. Among the cases: the hunt for a possible serial killer; the murder of a supposed party girl; the stabbing death of a firefighter who had prevented a hate crime; the disappearance of a deputy commissioner's daughter; and the shooting death of a rapper. Guest stars include Fran Drescher, Liza Minnelli, Martha Plimpton, Doris Roberts, Roy Scheider, Brooke Shields and Michelle Trachtenberg.
