Jonathan Creek

Investigative journalist Madeline Magellan is the kind of journalist that generally sticks her nose in where it isn't wanted. While writing a story about the murder of a famous artist, she happens across a quiet but brilliant man named Jonathan Creek, who makes a living inventing magic tricks for Adam Klaus. Adam is a very famous magician, but Jonathan is the real genius behind Adam's illusions. Madeline (Maddy) and Jonathan team up to solve the artist's murder, then team up again (with some reluctance from Jonathan) to solve near-impossible cases. Maddy gradually falls in love with Jonathan, but being a shy person, he doesn't show if he knows about her feelings for him--but he loves to solve the tricky mysteries that she brings for his mind to solve.

The Letters of Septimus Noone

59 mins

The Mystery of the Yellow Room, based on a 19th-century story by Gaston Leroux, is currently thrilling London theatre audiences with its enticing blend of music, romance and sizzling Gothic melodrama. But events take a sinister turn one night when the show's glamorous singing sensation Juno Pirelli is found horribly stabbed inside a locked dressing room, from which no assailant could possibly have escaped. No weapon or any other evidence of an intruder can be found, nor any rational explanation for the victim's wounds. As the actress's life hangs in the balance, her producer and colleagues remain baffled. And attention once again turns to the lateral-thinking Jonathan Creek for a solution to the whole grisly puzzle. But can Creek - now a happily married man - even be persuaded to embark upon the investigation? As he and his wife Polly struggle to come to terms with a sudden personal tragedy, a series of dark and disturbing family secrets are about to emerge that will throw the couple's whole world into turmoil.

The Big C

4 Seasons
Cathy Jamison is a suburban Minneapolis high school teacher, wife and mother with less than a perfect life, despite it perhaps seeming so to much of the outside world. Her life is given a major shock when she is diagnosed with melanoma, the first news of such to her being when it is at advanced stage IV, meaning that she will most likely succumb to it within short order barring some extreme or radical intervention. Cathy goes through a myriad of emotions concerning the diagnosis, including how she will deal with it in relation to family, friends and people close to her in other ways. These people include: Paul Jamison, her college sweetheart husband, who is often just another big kid in their relationship, while Cathy has acted the responsible adult; Adam Jamison, Cathy and Paul's teenaged son who is going through typical issues of being a teenager and only child; Sean Tolkey, Cathy's hyper-environmental anti-establishment brother, who chooses to be homeless to live off the grid and who abhors what he sees as Cathy's bourgeois suburban lifestyle; her students, such as Andrea Jackson, who openly stands her ground on any issue, including her weight problem and her African-American background; and her elderly seemingly crotchety female long-time neighbor, who Cathy has not made the effort to know despite their close proximity for years.
