Will and Lyra decide to travel to Will's Oxford, to seek out his lawyer and to find a scholar to help Lyra about the Dust. Soon she fins that the Jordan College does not exist in this world, but the alethiometer tells her to go to St. Peter. Will schedules with Lyra to meet each other at the Botanic Gardens at 5 PM. At the Magisterium, Dr Lanselius is sentenced to prison, and Ms. Coulter convinces MacPhail to authorize the bombing of the witches. Will meets his lawyer and she tells him that she cannot give the money from his fund to him. She suggests he visits his grandparents and asks them. Meanwhile, Lyra meets the physicist Mary Malone that shows her experiments with the Dust.

Theft

In Cittàgazze, Lyra decides to go to Oxford to meet the scholar Mary Malone, despite the warnings of Pan and the alethiometer. She leaves a note to Will and heads to St. Peter to Mary's office, but police officer is interrogating Mary. When Lyra arrives, she flees and stumbles upon Carlo Boreal's car, who offers a ride to her. She accepts and later she asks him to stop, but he forgets her backpack in the car. However, Carlo calls her to deliver the backpack. But when she opens it, she learns that the alethiometer was stolen by Carlo. She waits for Will seated on a bank and they decide to look for Carlo. Pan recalls that he gave a card to her when they first met each other in the museum and now they will seek him out. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter confronts Lee Scoresby in the prison and she learns how engaged he is to protect Lyra.
Episode 4
Tower of the Angels

Lyra and Will look for a means to enter into the Tower of the Angels, to find the knife. Boreal tries to lure Mary Malone to get her research about the Dust, but she sends him away. Lee and Grumman meet each other and they team-up to protect the subtle knife from going to wrong hands. Lyra and Will find an entrance to the tower and they meet the bearer of the subtle knife, Giacomo Paradisi, and he tells that a boy has just stolen the knife from him. The boy is Tulio, who confronts Will and Lyra and cut two fingers of Will off before he is subdued. Will learns from Giacomo how to open and close a window to another world and becomes the bearer of the knife. Serafina Pekkala, Ruta Skadi and other witches that survived the Magisterium attack gets revenge.
Episode 5
The Scholar

Mrs. Coulter and Boreal meet each other and she learns that Lyra had a meeting with Mary Malone. Mrs. Coulter decides to meet Mary to learn what Lyra and she know about the Dust. She tries to lure the scholar but she does not provide the answer Mary questioned to her. Meanwhile, Lyra and Will try to open a window inside Boreal's house to retrieve the alethiometer. Mary finds the portal to Cittàgazze and crosses the window to the dangerous city of shadows.

Malice

Lyra and Will find allies who can help them in their search for Will's father. The Magisterium learn something shocking, and Mrs Coulter meets a formidable foe.

Lyra asks Serafina to leave since the witches are not safe, but she refuses. Ruta, who is looking for Asriel, overhears monsters on the cliff talking about the war that is coming. Lee Scoresby and Jopari crash their balloon and a hunt down by Magisterium's soldiers that landed their zeppelins. Serafina asks Lena to return to Cittàgazze to see whether everything is fine, and she stumbles upon the evil Mrs. Coulter. Lee is injured by one shot and asks Jopari to leave him and protect Lyra and find the knife bearer. He covers Jopari's run, shooting the soldiers. Will finally finds his father, but something happens.
