Milton C. Hardcastle was a Judge in Los Angeles County. Mark McCormick, a racing motorist, convicted for robbery, was Hardcastles last case. McCormick was placed under supervision of Hardcastle, and they start to inspect 200 cases that were never closed totally during Milton's judgeship.

Frank Harper to to speak with Rafael, they find him dead. McCormick is sent undercover as a police officer.

But offers to help get back on his feet by getting him a try out with a baseball team, it seems he was a star baseball player when he was arrested. At the same time Hardcastle looks into something his friend said before he died--that he was paid to frame him. So Hardcastle tries to see if it's true.
