There were few clues to the killer's identity, but authorities were intrigued by unusual orange fibers on clothing found near the victim. Months went by, and the case went cold, until a van turned up with what appeared to be the same orange fibers. The latest in forensic technology was able to determine that there was a connection between the van and the victim. The van's owner, Robert Anthony Buell, was convicted of rape and murder and sentenced to death.
