Grandpa Sam Dracula is essentially Dracula who assembled Herman because no man was good enough for his daughter Lily, a sexy vampiress. Lily's niece Marilyn the freak is actually normal and Lily and Herman's only child, Eddie, has his werewolf tendencies surface in puberty, forcing the family to relocate to their famous 1313 Mockingbird Lane address.

Lights Out was an extremely popular American old-time radio program, an early example of a network series devoted mostly to horror and the supernatural, predating Suspense and Inner Sanctum. Versions of Lights Out aired on different networks, at various times, from January 1934 to the summer of 1947, and the series eventually made the transition to television.

College student Marian Kitt is terrified to discover that she has the power to see into the "other side." He introduces Marian to "the others," a group of individuals with the ability to vicariously experience the feelings, thoughts and experiences of others, and to help them understand paranormal phenomena. Famed medium Elmer Greentree is their spiritual leader and a mentor figure for Marian, whose potential to see "all of the light" is strong. With Marian now among them, they will help each other understand their abilities as they encounter otherworldly, often frightening, alternative dimensions. And all the while, a dark force looms over them.

Hot on the heals of the successful "Inner Sanctum Mysteries" horror and mystery anthology radio series; the "Inner Sanctum" horror and mystery television series was born, through Galahad Productions and NBC Film Productions. In 1953, an unaired pilot "Dead Level" was to launch the series. Paul McGrath from "Inner Sanctum Mysteries" fame was to reprise his role as Raymond, the host and narrator of the show.
