A delightfully manic British comedy about an ill-mannered innkeeper, created by and starring 'Monty Python' alum John Cleese and his then-wife, Connie Booth. Inspired by a real-life English hotelier, the series won legions of American fans when it aired on PBS in the 1970s. The program's initial run of six episodes premiered on the BBC in September 1975. A second season of six episodes ran in February 1979.

Hailed as one of the finest British comedy series of all time, "Fawlty Towers" captures the farcical antics of Basil Fawlty, a British hotelier who spends his time desperately trying to attract a higher clientele to his modest seaside resort. Unfortunately, he has neither the temperament, patience nor the manners to achieve his goals, and if he's not undermining himself, he has his unhelpful wife Sybil and his own personal punching bag , Manuel the incompetent Spanish waiter, to help make his life a constant misery. With its blend of slapstick, classic British sarcasm and a sense of reality that makes the madness feel absolutely plausible, FAWLTY TOWERS was a ground-breaking sitcom that changed the entire genre, and still feels fresh today.
