The Invasion

Ray and Debra are having their house fumigated for termites. They plan to stay at a hotel, but Marie insists they stay at her house across the street. Right off the bat, things start to get awkward. When Debra unintentionally "interferes" in Marie's everyday activities, Marie complains to Ray. So then, Debra decides to purposely interfere just to annoy her. And after a confrontation with Robert, Ray gets into the act. Now, nobody can wait for the fumigation to be done.

Driving Frank

Robert tries to give Frank a ticket because he hit his patrol car. Then the family finds out that Frank's drivers license has expired, and Ray experiences, first hand, how bad Frank's driving actually is. So Debra doesn't want Frank to drive the kids anymore. And Ray has the pleasure of witnessing the test he takes at the DMV.

The Sitter

When Debra has a bad experience at the grocery store with the kids, she decides it's time to hire a babysitter. So she manages to get Lisa. After a while, Ally, Michael and Geoffrey end up enjoying time with Lisa more than their mother. Debra doesn't like that, so she let's Lisa go and has Marie babysit instead, which is disastrous.

Getting Even

Ray contemplates the idea after talking with the guys at Nemo's Pizza, then finally decides against it. Planning to have sex after all the trick-or-treating on Halloween night, Ray buys a whole box of colorful condoms. But while they' re out trick-or-treating with their kids, Frank accidentally give out the condom packages to trick-or-treaters thinking they're chocolate coins.

Moving Out

The Article

Ray's friend and co-worker Andy writes his own article hoping to become a sports writer. But when Ray reads it, he doesn't like it. When he gives Andy some constructive criticism, he hurts Andy's feelings. The following week, Andy tells Ray he submitted the article to Sports Illustrated magazine without Ray's corrections, and they bought it. Ray then feels jealous, until he finds out that Sports Illustrated completely rewrote Andy's article.

After attending the Senior Health Fair, Marie realizes that she and Frank need to eat healthier if they want to live longer. So she begins to alter some of the things she cooks. And Thanksgiving just happens to be coming up soon. Ray is supportive of his parents for wanting to eat healthier, but he doesn't like the fact that Marie is NOT making turkey on Thanksgiving. Instead, they have to sit through an entire meal of tofu turkey.

The Apartment

After Robert had been living in his new apartment for a little while, Marie starts asking questions about it because she hasn't been over there yet. So, Ray pays him a visit. Upon arriving at the Crown View Apartment building, Ray has an encounter with a beautiful blond woman named Michelle in the elevator. And shortly after walking through the door at Robert's apartment, he meets another beautiful woman, Sandy. Ray is happy to see that the apartment building is full of gorgeous young women, and starts going over to visit Robert every day just to check out the girls. It's all fun for Ray until Debra finds out what's happening.

The Toaster

It's Christmas time, and Ray has the idea of giving engraved toasters to everyone. Being the pessimist he is, Ray is worried that everyone will think it's a dumb idea. But when Debra's parents, Warren and Lois, loved the gift, Ray began to feel better about himself. Later, Ray finds out that Frank and Marie exchanged their toaster for a coffeemaker.

Ping Pong

While in Frank and Marie's basement, Ray and Robert find their old ping pong table. They begin to remember the days when they played against their father when they were young. Ray was so happy that he had finally beat Frank at the game. Then he found out that Frank let him win all those years ago. Furious that his father lied to him, Ray wanted a rematch. So when the two played, Ray ended up letting Frank win just so he knew how it felt. ...And then Frank was angry.

Pants on Fire

After more than 20 years, Frank turns the heater on in his house, only to find a rattling noise in the vent. Ray takes a look and pulls out a bottle cap that was in there. He then tells his parents that it's been in the vent since he was in high school. There's a flashback scene to when Ray threw a party in high school, and Ray is seen drinking a bottle of beer, then tossing the bottle cap across the living room into the vent. Furious that her son would do that, Marie doesn't give Ray any cake on his birthday, or give him his birth-minute kiss. Marie then shuns Ray and turns to nurture Robert instead.

Robert's Date

After a discussion in Robert's patrol car, his partner Judy realizes he has no friends and doesn't hang out with anyone. So she invites him out for a night of dancing with her friends. Reluctant at first, Robert agrees to go. When they get to a club called Eta's, Robert notices he's the only white person. Everyone else is black. After Judy forces him to dance and mingle with her friends, Robert eventually feels more comfortable with them. But maybe a little too comfortable, because Robert's personality begins to change and he starts acting like he's black. Both Ray and Judy try to discourage that, but in a nice way.

Frank's Tribute

When Frank's lodge buddies vote him "Man of the Year", Ray and Robert have to give a tribute to him. So they decide to make a video. Upon arriving at the lodge to interview the guys, Ray and Robert realize that the other lodge guys hate Frank. Since they couldn't get any kind words about him, they interviewed the lodge guys about chocolate and ended up heavily editing the video to make it seem like they were talking about Frank. But when the short video is shown at the party, Frank is upset when it becomes evident that everybody hates him.

Cruising with Marie

Ray and Robert get their parents a cruise for Marie's birthday. But Frank ends up faking an injury to get out of it. Since the cruise is non-refundable, Marie takes Ray along with her in place of Frank. While on the cruise, Marie makes a ton of new friends and Ray notices that his mother has become like a "party girl".

Ray Home Alone

Debra decides to take the kids to Connecticut to visit her parents, so Ray is left home alone for the weekend. But he soon realizes how scary a big empty house can be at night and he has trouble sleeping. And the fact that Ally's noise-making toy, a voice recorder doll, was left in his bedroom didn't help. So he visits Robert's apartment and they get to arguing who is more scared. They inevitably both end up at Frank and Marie's house.

Big Shots

Having been forced by Marie, Ray reluctantly takes Robert to the Hall of Fame to meet the 1969 New York Mets, where the team is signing autographs. When they arrive, they find that the line is incredibly long. Since Ray is a "big shot" sports writer, he tries to use that as an excuse to get to the front of the line. Security kicks him out pretty quickly, so Robert doesn't get to meet his hero Art Shamsky. Then on the drive home, they're pulled over by a police officer for speeding. So, Robert tries to be a "big shot", since he is a fellow cop, and tries to save Ray from getting a ticket. But it doesn't work.

Move Over

While asleep, Debra has a tendency to cuddle up next to Ray, but Ray can't stand the constant touching. After becoming angry because her husband doesn't want her to touch him, she tells Ray he needs help. So Ray pays a visit to Father Hubley. He suggests to Ray that Debra may not be getting enough affection during the day so she subconsciously does it in her sleep. Ray goes back home and hugs and touches Debra all day long, but, unfortunately for him, Debra still touches him while she sleeps. In an attempt to fool Debra, Ray tries to get her to grasp a kids bop bag.

The Getaway

When Ray complains about the vacation plan, Debra asks him to pick up a place. They go to a BandB in Vermont. Amy and Debra go shopping and Debra confides in her that she feels that Ray finds her boring. When Marie moves-in for baby-sitting, Robert feels left out and wants to baby-sit instead. Ray then asks Robert, but Marie moves in anyway supervises in stealth. In the BandB there is no TV and a common bathroom. They clash a lot and end up having a fight in the bathroom.

Embarrassed, he cancels his date. Later she visits him and asks him over with a false complaint and then offers him food, making it their first official date.
