With help from Albert Einstein and other trusted advisors, President Harry S. Truman commissioned a top-secret residential development in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest, one that would serve to protect and nurture America's most valuable intellectual resources, where our nation's greatest thinkers, the über-geniuses working on the next era of scientific achievement, would be able to live and work in a supportive environment. The best architects and planners were commissioned to design a welcoming place for these superlative geniuses to reside, an area that would offer the best education for their children, the best healthcare, the best amenities and quality of life. A community was created to rival the most idyllic of America's small towns, with one major difference: this town would never appear on any maps. At least, none that haven't been classified "eyes only" by the Pentagon.

The Vampire Diaries has a new sheriff in town. Eureka's Colin Ferguson has been cast as Tripp, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Tripp is a strong and disciplined head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town. He'll first appear in the Season 6 premiere, which takes place following a significant time jump. Executive producer Julie Plec first teased the news on Twitter writing, "He's in town to give Sheriff Forbes a run for her money." Question: I hope you'll mention the passing of one of my favorite shows, Eureka. With all the hoopla around the finale of The Closer and the buzz about new and returning summer shows, the final episode of this quirky and creative Syfy gem will probably go unnoticed by most. Over the years it's become one of my favorites, serving up some high concept sci-fi stories with a healthy dose of humor and heart. Although I knew it was ending, the announcement last week of the July 16 "series finale" made me sadder than I expected. It's like nothing else on TV and I will miss all these wonderful, eccentric characters and this charming, if sometimes dangerous, town.
