Episode 1
Taking his car to be repaired by widowed mechanic Ian Raven Heston is perturbed that Ian allows his selfish step-son J.P. to dictate to him and sets out to uncover the personal tragedy that has led to this state of affairs. Meanwhile Barry's successor, officious young Patch O'Hanlon, antagonizes everybody, prompting Howard and Rob to persuade Barry to return to work.
Episode 2
Al is shocked when 15 year old persistent truant Lottie o' Connell excitedly demands that she be taken into care as she hates her home life with her single parent mother and autistic sister Kara. Al believes that she is acting out of selfish motives but in fact her demands are to help her sister. Meanwhile Zara is perturbed to find Joe is not developing as he should and Jimmi is not pleased when Heather takes an interest in his family history.
Episode 3
Depressive Ryan Harker is accused of downloading obscene images of minors by partner Kerry Boswell's daughter Sarah but swears his innocence. Emma and Rob believe she is lying and set out to find out why. Jimmi explains to Heather his unhappy childhood caused his OCD whilst Howard, investigating a spate of burglaries, discovers a drunk, depressed Ayesha sleeping at the surgery.
Episode 4
Whilst Ayesha is visiting young cancer patient Molly Elridge, celebrity chef Alphonse Greco comes to visit at the request of Molly's mother Alice. In fact Alice has staged the visit to put laxatives in the food she gave Alphonse in revenge for his having stolen her recipe book when they worked together twenty years earlier and built his reputation on it. A visit to Alphonse's restaurant helps to rectify matters but Emma is aware that Ayesha is putting on a brave face to her colleagues and the last straw comes for Zara when she is burgled.
Episode 5
Single mother Lauren Bowles and her boyfriend Denny Jarvis burgle local houses - including Zara's - but Denny is appalled when Lauren runs over one of their victims and shows no remorse. When Barry recognizes the car on CCTV Denny, for the sake of Lauren's baby, takes all the blame but Rob knows better and gets his proof. Elsewhere Heather's decision not to tell ex-boyfriend Phil about his baby draws criticism from Ayesha, Emma and Niamh at a girls' night in.
Episode 6
Mrs Tembe is perturbed by a meeting with Seraphina, a strange girl who claims to be an angel and has escaped from a convent where she is being held prisoner. She persuades Rob to investigate and finds things not as sinister as she imagined with timely medical intervention providing the miracle for which Seraphina had hoped. Elsewhere Zara Skypes Daniel and id frustrated that he does not share her concern over Joe and Heather lies to Phil that he is not her baby's father.
Episode 7
Niamh is appalled when old friend Kate, a teacher, arrives with her boyfriend, 15 year old pupil Troy, by whom she is pregnant, and announces that they are on the run from the authorities. Niamh is torn between helping her friend break the law and aiding her escape but in the long run it is Troy who does the right thing. Rob takes Karen to view a property which, like its estate agent, seems rather too good to be true and Ayesha agrees to move in with Emma - though on her terms.
Episode 8
The appearance of the surgery's first ever patients is a reminder that the Mill is exactly ten years old. Howard, who has forgotten, brings cake but is trumped by the lavish presents sent by Julia. Elsewhere Zara is angry when a locum doctor accuses her of over-reacting to Joe's behavioural problems and Al struggles to get through to his obnoxious teen-aged godson Xander who blames him for his parents' divorce - though they finally manage to connect.
Episode 9
Howard is delighted when old army pal Ewan comes to stay - until he discovers that Ewan is using his house to meet his Internet date behind his wife's back. Heston also gets a visit from an old friend, the glamorous Italian Allegra. However he surprises his colleagues by claiming that he finds her insufferable and does not want to see her again. Heather comes to the surgery looking for Jimmi and promptly collapses.
Episode 10
Karen has a terrible day, which she attributes to the presence of a Sumatran fertility idol left at the surgery by a university lecturer impregnated by her post graduate boyfriend though, the idol notwithstanding, there are happy endings all round. Meanwhile Jimmi feels bad about not spotting he thrombosis that caused Heather's collapse though she sees it as a punishment for her treatment of Phil and Zara is increasingly annoyed that Daniel does not share her concerns for Joe.
Episode 11
New young doctor Sid Vere arrives to work at the surgery, and impresses and irritates in equal measure with his enthusiasm. Zara especially is not happy when Howard insists she mentors Sid. Meanwhile Emma treats a woman with memory loss who fears that she has harmed her baby, causing Emma to play detective to work out the woman's identity and the location of the child.
Episode 12
Abrasive ex-patient Barbara Wilson comes to the surgery yet again, demanding an apology for a years old grievance . Howard calls for her liaison officer Jake and Sid reluctantly sees her, working out that she and Jake have feelings for each other. Sid's colleagues, however, are less enchanted as he spends far too long seeing his patients whilst Niamh has enormous problems assembling a flat pack wardrobe.
Episode 13
Niamh is amazed to learn that sharp-tongued Sylvia Blim, who dresses like a bag lady, is actually a wealthy property owner who has alienated her daughter Penny with her desire to make more and more money. However, after Sylvia collapses Niamh and Penny are in for an even bigger surprise. Meanwhile Zara asks Al for his opinion on Joe and is dissatisfied when he fails to see a problem.
Episode 14
Mrs Tembe attends a therapy group for political refugees where her kindly nature and listening powers afford some comfort to a young African whose family was wiped out by terrorists. Zara, already annoyed at colleagues' appraisals of Joe, loses patience with Sid over his endless verbosity and tendency to over-involvement, snapping at him that he is not cut out to be a doctor.
Episode 15
Karen takes Rob for a 'mystery' day out, which turns out to be a property auction but is amazed when he actually buys a house. Jimmi is concerned when Heather disappears and even more so when he tracks her down and finds that she wants to go back with Phil.
Episode 16
Heston is amazed when carer David Moss begs him not to tell his visiting girlfriend Sue that his mother has just died upstairs as he fears Sue will abort her trip to an Italian cookery school if she finds out. However his efforts to prevent Sure from meeting the undertakers end in disaster and nearly split the couple up. Al is worried when he is unable to contact Jimmi but Zara is pleased when specialist Dr Michael Burnett takes her concerns over Joe seriously.
Episode 17
Ayesha is perturbed to find single mother Claire Rattigan is having trouble coping with her baby, Simon, putting demands on her teen-aged son Nathan. Then she discovers that Claire is rejecting him because his late father was a convicted child abuser. Al travels to Wales and locates Jimmi through his friend Bryn. He is sleeping in a barn and has no desire to go back home with Al whilst Sid finds Heston a far more convivial mentor than Zara.
Episode 18
Karen catches her friend June in a compromising position with Len, a man she picked up at her evening class, and is unwittingly involved when June's bullying husband Neville returns unexpectedly and June claims that Len arrived with Karen. More problems arise when Len turns out to be a thief. Zara bumps into the widowed Michael Burnett with his daughter in the park whilst Al returns to Letherbridge, leaving a jaundiced, self-pitying Jimmi to cause a rift between Bryn and girlfriend Catrin.
Episode 19
Howard exposes a bogus charity collector whilst Sid is reassured by his female colleagues that all health practitioners are nervous when they first start work at a surgery. In Wales Jimmi's alcoholic father Alun, beset by huge debts, fears he is being haunted and visits his doctor, confessing his guilt over the cruel way in which he used to treat Jimmi. Then Jimmi arrives at his house and attacks him.
Episode 20
Following a call from Bryn Al drives to Alun's house and finds Alun unconscious and locked in a cupboard after a beating from Jimmi, who explains to Al that this is revenge for the sadistic treatment he received from Alun as a child. Alun is unconscious but recovers in hospital where he demands that Jimmi visit or he will call the police. Jimmi duly turns up but there is no reconciliation.
Episode 21
Asked to present the Letherbridge Young Carer of the Year award Ayesha feels an empathy with the candidates given her own situation and steps in to help young Tom Enders, who have been selfless in looking after his disabled mother but has been playing truant to do so. Meanwhile Zara finds herself opening up to Michael and Al refuses to tell the other doctors where Jimmi is.
Episode 22
Jimmi returns to work but he is surly and uncommunicative about where he has been. In his absence Sid sees his patient Roxy Ripley, a terminally ill housewife, with whom he initially gets off to a bad start until he learns that she is a former biker and encourages her to ride her motor bike again as a form of therapy. However when he tells Jimmi Jimmi bawls him out publicly as being reckless and incompetent. Meanwhile Michael suggests to Zara that Joe's problem may be caused by a wheat allergy.
Episode 23
Emma tends to Norman, an injured young man who claims that he is a psychopath and should be locked up. Having heard his story of unrequited love and a bullying neighbour keeping him from the girl he adores Emma feels he is a victim and should be released from custody. However when she visits his house she changes her opinion. Meanwhile Zara begins to suspect that Michael is becoming more interested in her than in Joe.
Episode 24
Al is taken hostage in his local off-licence along with shopkeeper Renton and fellow customer Andy by an embittered, knife-wielding ex-drug addict Ellie who soon makes it clear that she has a very clear and frightening purpose for choosing her victims. Zara is taken aback when Michael turns up at her house declaring his love for her whilst Emma's planned evening of wine-tasting turns into a drunken girls' night in for herself, Ayesha and Niamh.
Episode 25
Daniel returns from Australia and is soon arguing with Zara over her decision to take Joe to see Michael without consulting him whilst Karen and Rob also row about his decision to 'downsize' their belongings in anticipation of their move. Mrs Tembe sticks up for Kitty Driscoll, a new member of the church committee whose forthrightness offends the other members . When Kitty explains that she has been this way for years Mrs Tembe recognizes a medical problem and suggests she sees Heston.
Episode 26
Niamh's patient, arthritic Rod Buckwell, annoys his wife by refusing to ditch his old Lambretta scooter to the extent that she threatens to leave him. But when old rocker Derek Newton turns up on his motor bike and challenges Rod to a race Rod ends up winning both the race and Julie. Daniel meets Michael and is unimpressed by both the man and his diagnosis for Joe, widening the rift with Zara - and Jimmi does not help by suggesting to Zara that Daniel was unfaithful to her in Australia.
Episode 27
After a another row with Karen regarding their move Rob goes fishing and meets fellow angler Evan Frost, who is initially friendly. Then he attacks rob and tries to stab himself and after Rob has calmed him down he makes a confession regarding his unhappy childhood and fear that he has inherited his father's violence.
Episode 28
Daniel is approached by Iain Carney, who has heard that his ten year old son Freddie has cancer but his ex-partner Sandra refuses him contact or to give him her address. Daniel investigates and discovers that Iain is not as innocent as he first appears though neither is Sandra blameless. Sid gets into trouble with Zara for taken up a patient's complaint against a consultant without learning the full facts.
Episode 29
Rob and probationer Kylie investigate when elderly Madge and Arthur Barrett are robbed by a con-man, though they cannot agree on his description. After an early mishap Kylie is instrumental in getting the thief caught but Madge has a confession to make to Rob. Zara once more rows with Daniel regarding Joe and takes refuge with Michael whilst Ayesha organizes an evening of fortune telling for Emma and Niamh.
Episode 30
Zara returns home to an accusing Daniel. Though she did not have sex with Michael but only talk she is in a bad mood and falls foul of Karen at work before confiding in Emma, who urges her to work on her marriage. Mrs Tembe is due to conduct a fire drill but does her back in and Sid steps in to - unusually - be the hero of the hour.
Episode 31
Niamh and Al attend the wedding of her old friend jack where they are mistaken for a couple. Jack's spiteful 15 year old daughter Lucy attempts to sabotage proceedings by getting Rachel's young son Ben drunk and then going to a hotel room with a pick-up. Niamh tries to help the family resolve matters and get to the bottom of Lucy's resentment.
Episode 32
Apprehensive about returning to work after being beaten up three months earlier Patrick Jennings derives confidence from his jujitsu class and Sid is tempted to join, proving himself the hero of the hour when Patrick dislocates his shoulder. Still suffering from back ache Mrs Tembe has cause to be grateful to Al when she gets locked in the toilet and things do not improve between Zara and Daniel.
Episode 33
Karen visits her old friend Susan Dell, whose brother Peter has returned from Australia after fifty five years. Susan understands that he is prosperous but Karen discovers otherwise when she uncovers Peter's gambling addiction and a long-standing feud which can hopefully be resolved. Elsewhere Daniel refuses to let Michael see Joe anymore and Mrs Tembe visits chiropractor Mr kit to heal her back ache.
Episode 34
Niamh's patient Becky Harmiston believes her hysterectomy is why her husband Dean no longer wants sex with her - until she finds there is another reason, in which Emma gets involved. Jimmi 's desire to bar troublesome patient Keith Loader brings him into conflict with Zara and Daniel, who agree to level a vote of no confidence in him after he has made personal insults about them. Meanwhile the Hollins' move does not go smoothly, due to incompetent removals men and a vendor with a personal problem, unaware that she is supposed to leave. As a result they end up in a B & B.
Episode 35
Model Jade Ryland collapses during a photo shoot and Ayesha agrees to help cover the fact that she has a drink problem. With the shoot on a deadline Ayesha replaces Jade and does very well. Elsewhere Jimmi tries to show Al that there is nothing wrong with him, and Heston falls foul of a stressed out Emma
Episode 36
Attention-seeking student Amy Bowden alarms her mother and stepfather by telling them that she is in love with an older man and they assume it is Heston, whom she sees as the only person who understands her. When Heston investigates however he finds that Amy's affections lie elsewhere. Meanwhile Daniel is arrested after fighting with Michael and Sid turns down a date with Ayesha.
Episode 37
After a row with her demanding invalid mother Margie Herne sees a man in a shopping mall whom she pursues but who eludes her. She bumps into Sid and tells him she believes the man, Nathan, could be her soul mate. Strangely enough Nathan feels the same and so Sid ends up playing Cupid for them. Returning to work Howard discovers the rift between Jimmi and the Granger-Carmichaels when their bickering leaves him to eject drunk Keith Loader on his own.
Episode 38
Rob and young constable Rupesh go after missing burglar Mark Slattery whose wife tells them he has probably gone to rob a large property called the Birdhouse. On entry to the house Rupesh is injured and the house's sole occupant, middle-aged Rebecca Knox, is very helpful. However she is nursing a secret which relates to the missing miscreant. Ayesha and Sid finally go on their date, which they both enjoy but things are still icy between Zara and Daniel whilst Mrs Tembe is pleased by another visit to Mr Kit.
Episode 39
Did he or didn't he? One of Dr Haskey's old university friends, now a lecturer, is accused of sexual harassment. Are Haskey's assumptions that his friend is innocent right, or is the girl telling the truth? In the surgery, hot flashes, hot tempers and hot new love is the order of the day.
Episode 40
As Howard struggles to keep the peace between Zara and Daniel and Mrs Tembe extols the merits of Mr Kit Daniel sees little Kyle Robertson, who has stopped breathing after swallowing a battery. Ultimately however it is Howard who saves the day and who rebukes Daniel for letting his personal problems take over. Zara typically takes out her frustrations on Sid and makes him cry.
Episode 41
Jimmi sees teen-aged autistic Alex Carson, who has burns on his hands but all the boy will tell him is that he wants to see 'The Doctor'. Jimmi deduces that this is the television character Doctor Who and that Alex is a fantasist who claims to have seen an alien base. However he has seen something that puts him in danger and Jimmi joins with his widowed father to rescue him.
Episode 42
Daniel sees ex-convict Ray Wilkins and his girlfriend Laura and is surprised that it is Ray who wants Botox and Laura who pays for it. After the couple argue Laura confides in Daniel that she feels their relationship is doomed because of the difference in their social standings and she is proved right. Meanwhile Mrs Tembe gets the better of Al and Jimmi, who are having a paper plane contest using the new stationery, by making the winning missile and Sid asks Howard for a change of mentor after Zara belittles him once more.
Episode 43
Now in her new home Karen finds the couple next door, Lily and Matt, extremely irritating with their over-friendliness and double entendres - not to mention Lily's penchant for policemen in uniform - so she is relieved to hear that they are moving soon. Meanwhile Zara requests a year off to look after Joe, facing resistance from both Howard and Daniel, whilst Ayesha and Sid get cosy.
Episode 44
At a conference Niamh meets old student friend Maria, who is about to get married and move away but who gets an unwelcome visitor who calls her Jackie. She tells Niamh that she was once an escort and is being blackmailed to keep the fact from her fiancé, a vicar, but the truth is rather more alarming, putting Niamh in a dilemma. At the surgery Daniel rubbishes Al's assessment of Joe and Emma and Howard get lost on their way to a meeting.
Episode 45
When students Jenny and Matthew find their housemate Adam dead Jenny believes she may have killed him whilst sleep-walking so Matthew agrees to dispose of the body but when Jimmi and Rob investigate she blames Matthew for the killing. Jimmi however is not convinced. Back at the surgery Sid stands up to Zara, who appears to back down - until he mentions her domestic difficulties - whilst Daniel expresses his misgivings about Michael to Heston.
Episode 46
When another special turns up at the police station Howard is surprised to find it is his sister Saskia, whom he has not seen in a while following a row with his mother. The entertainment Rob had lined up for a colleague's leaving party has fallen through so Saskia organizes a replacement act but after Howard has arrested them he and Saskia take to the stage together and reconcile.
Episode 47
Howard meets old colleague Mark Anderson, whose life has improved since a move to the States and who offers Howard a job, which he turns down. He also explains that he married his wife after a process known as Forty Days' Dating and Howard wonders if this could work for himself with Emma. Sid's romantic bubble bursts however when Ayesha tells him she finds him too clinging as she is not wanting a serious relationship whilst Heston, after reading 'Waiting for Godot', meets two men who seem to have stepped straight out of the play's pages.
Episode 48
Al is touched to find that engaged couple Lola and Dylan have decided against sex until they are married though when Dylan admits to an ulterior motive beyond morality and takes drastic action Al has to intervene and get him to tell Lola the truth. Elsewhere Emma is surprised when Howard suggests they try the Forty Day dating plan and Mrs Tembe finds Mr Kit's hands-on approach rather too intimate for her.
Episode 49
Niamh is visited by family friend Molly who has resumed her relationship with old flame Tom after forty years apart and marriages to other partners. Molly is concerned that Tom is not romantic but he has his own fears as, after some coaxing from Niamh, he explains to her. Karen believes she has been cursed by a gypsy and visits psychic Luna Lovelace but, whilst Ayesha exposes Luna as a fraud, Karen is still pessimistic about her future - unlike Emma and Howard who start their forty day date.
Episode 50
Whilst attempting to stop the council from chopping down a tree in his garden disabled former mountaineer Edward Rourke is injured and Sid called in to treat him. Intrigued by his stories Sid is sympathetic but persuades him to move on whilst back at the surgery Zara is thwarted by the other three partners in her desire to get rid of Sid and Emma and Howard choose Niamh and Al as their confidants for the Forty Day date.
Episode 51
Ayesha is concerned for pregnant single mother Sandra Benton, whose recalcitrant son Wade is causing a feud with the grumpy old man next door and finally steps in to put forward a peace plan, based on painting the communal fence. Emma is guarded over the formality of the dating plan though it is Howard who is feeling less than convinced after their visit to counsellor Kate.
Episode 52
When policewoman Anna Brady arrests aggressive footballer Danny Holland for drink driving he pushes her to the ground and soon afterwards she is rushed to hospital, paralyzed from the waist down. An angry Jimmi lets fly at Holland though strangely it brings Anna and adoring colleague Ian closer together. Heston is appalled by Zara's treatment of Sid and decides to put in a complaint against her whilst Emma questions Howard's commitment to the dating agenda.
Episode 53
Whilst in church Mrs Tembe witnesses bride to be Amy Taylor being dominated by her bossy sister Zoe over Amy's impending wedding and helps Amy to stand up to her, making the happy event happy after all. For Zara however things go from bad to worse when Daniel accompanies her to Michael's presentation, only to discredit his findings, leading to Michael telling her he wished they had never met and back at the surgery she is summoned to a partners' meeting over her bullying of Sid, at which neither Jimmi nor Daniel support her.
Episode 54
Karen is concerned for elderly Eileen Wilkie, just out of hospital, whose husband Don seems to be allowing her to do all the housework and shopping. However Eileen has a reason for keeping busy, as does Don in his own fashion and Karen attempts to get them to meet each other half way. Emma persuades Howard to persevere with the dating plan whilst Daniel, following another big row with Zara, comes to realize that his son may have a developmental problem after all.
Episode 55
Heston consoles Kim Markham after her terminally ill husband Neil, a well-known author, has killed himself but is unhappy when Jack Goodall, a former student of the dead man, arrives to claim that Neil plagiarized his work. However Jack's real purpose in visiting goes some way towards helping Kim overcome her grief. For Zara and Daniel though things go from bad to worse whilst Howard shocks Emma by his inability to open up at their therapy session.
Episode 56
Jean McGinty is horrified when a strange man bursts into her boyfriend Roy Hammond's house, giving him an angina attack. In fact Roy and the intruder, Pete, have been playing a game of 'it' for the past twenty years but the situation now demands that Roy sort out his priorities. At the surgery Daniel reconciles with Zara but Jimmi savages her over her treatment of Sid.
Episode 57
Al's old college friend Fi is anxious to have a child but fears that her boyfriend Greg is infertile and hiding the fact from her. Al is torn between professional ethics and old friendship before discovering a peculiar truth. Meanwhile Sid impresses Heston on his first day with his new mentor and Zara and Daniel agree to put up a united front to deal with Joe's problem.
Episode 58
Emma and Howard arrive at the same restaurant as Zara and Daniel though they decline the invitation to sit together. Both couples however make positive progress with one of them breaching the Forty Day Date rules. Meanwhile in the kitchen waitress Nadia resents sous-chef Kim bullying her and looks to boyfriend, chef Callum, for support, unaware that they have a secret they are keeping from her - whose discovery demands revenge.
Episode 59
Having shown prospective buyer Angie Rudd around her house widow Pam Winters is shocked to find that the garden gnome in which she kept her late husband's ashes has been stolen. She calls the police but it is her son Luke who eventually helps her solve the mystery. Meanwhile Emma and Howard consider ditching the dating rules after their night together whilst Zara finally apologizes to Sid.
Episode 60
Whilst assisting medical student Darby Knowles run a sunburn awareness stall Ayesha and Sid notice that Darby is perturbed that her girl-friend Lisa may have a melanoma. Together they discover the cause for her concern as well as dissuading her from giving up her studies. Mrs Tembe and Howard meanwhile work out a resolution after Zara has called Heston a racist and the two doctors refuse to compromise.
Episode 61
Mrs Tembe receives threatening phone calls from the disturbed Kyle Cleaver, who bears a grudge for a previous slight but is helped to unmask him by Niamh's young brother Sean, who has come to visit her. Elsewhere, as news of the forty day date regime circulates throughout the practice, the cynical Jimmi expresses doubt as to whether Emma and Howard have any future as a couple.
Episode 62
Daniel is involved in a road rage incident with irate Don Prentiss, who has just been sacked but when they go to the police the two act together when the station officer collapses. Howard is taken aback by Emma's candour at the therapy session whilst Ayesha perplexes Niamh with an observation about young Sean.
Episode 63
Rob arrests Leon Bevell for selling drugs to Emily Cruz but is puzzled that elderly Doris Whiting also appears involved. In fact Doris is Emily's grandmother and a long term user for whom she is providing heroin. Sean admits to Niamh that he is gay whilst informing her that their mother has disowned her for helping send her criminal father to jail and Zara and Daniel prepare to take Joe to a specialist in London.
Episode 64
Young student Ben Priest finds that his irresponsible grandfather Ted Hicks staying with him is putting a strain on his relationship with his boyfriend Marco and asks Ted's old friend Heston for help. However it is ultimately Ted who ends up helping Ben. Howard arranges a romantic weekend for Emma and himself as well as being persuaded by Niamh to give Sean paid work painting the surgery.
Episode 65
After depressed housewife Brenda Chappell has told Karen that she is leaving her selfish husband George George goes to great lengths to prove that he cares, despite the efforts of his jealous next door neighbour, though unfortunately this rebounds on him. Jimmi launches another cynical attack on Zara following the trip to the London specialist but Sid impresses Heston with his handling of an awkward patient.
Episode 66
Sid is shocked at the lengths to which house-mate Alex will go to drive out unassuming Rachel so that he can install his girlfriend and steps in to save the situation. Niamh is irritated by Sean's claim to fancy Daniel and his painting a mural which impresses Al whilst Howard, in response to Jimmi's constant complaints about Zara, calls a Respect At Work meeting. However Zara anticipates that it will be directed against her and storms out, followed by Daniel.
Episode 67
At Howard's Respect At Work meeting Jimmi immediately starts a confrontation with Zara, accusing her of being a bully and inviting the others to support him with the result that Zara leaves the room in tears. Later Al explains to Jimmi that the recollection of his experiences with his father has turned him from an abuse victim into a bully himself. Sid meanwhile, accompanied by Heston, attends his end of placement review and is told that he is now a fully qualified doctor. Back at the surgery he is congratulated with Zara informing him that, despite her past misgivings, she believes he will do very well in the job.
Episode 68
Howard's weekend starts badly when he takes a dislike to Sean's mural and gets worse when, at the hotel with Emma, he gets groin strain and the mix of alcohol and pain-killers produces an unfortunate reaction. On his first visit to a gay club Sean learns that not everybody is as kindly as they seem and Niamh feels she is still not over Al when charming ex-colleague Theo asks for a date.
Episode 69
Rob reunites with Lynn Driver to stake out a house believed to be the focus of a paedophile ring and discover it is a brothel run by money-laundering gangster Yuri Baranov, whom they arrest. They also get into conflict with Dave Curtis, whose drug addicted ex-girlfriend Cheryl has taken their child to live with Baranov. Emma meanwhile is unable to keep her disastrous weekend a secret after Howard rings in sick and Sean makes efforts to get Al and Niamh back together again.
Episode 70
When elderly Grace Highsmith loses a ring in the park council cleaner Craig Maddern finds it and gives it to his girlfriend. Karen is suspicious and forces him to return it but is surprised by Grace's reaction. Sid leaves the practice on good terms with everybody, including Zara, except the sour Jimmi to whom he delivers some home truths whilst Al and Niamh prepare to confront Sean over his match-making and see that he has found a boyfriend.
Episode 71
Mrs Tembe faces a dilemma when Professor Barwick explains that he has kept his daughter Sarah locked up to wean her off heroin whilst Sarah claims he is abusing her and wants help to escape. When the truth comes out Mrs Tembe refers them both to counselling. Karen is horrified when Rob tells he is thinking of retiring - and could end up like his boring friend Alec - and Sean leaves for London, having persuaded Niamh to reconcile with their mother by phone.
Episode 72
Andy Weston and Toby Gregson are on their way to meet Lynn Driver with evidence to incriminate a paedophile organization known as Treehouse when they are ambushed on a country road by a gunman who escapes. Emma, visiting in the area, tends to Toby but he dies. Andy, who is wounded, manages to escape and, learning that headmaster Adam Mitchell, who was to join them to see Lynn, has been murdered, goes on the run.
Episode 73
In severe pain Weston forces elderly Len Houghton to shelter him but Lynn is able to identify him from CCTV footage, which is put out in a television appeal and when he sees it Weston moves on. Sarcastic superintendent Noakes arrives at the police station. He is critical of Lynn's handling of the case, especially as, when the police received the call with a sighting of Weston, she was, encouraged by Emma, visiting a little girl she hopes to adopt.
Episode 74
Al is perturbed by a strange young man, Thomas Marsh, who claims that a woman called Lara has health problems but since Lara and Thomas do not know each other Al deduces that he is a stalker. In fact Thomas has information which will save Lara's life. Meanwhile Mrs Tembe has an encounter with Weston without realizing who he is though the police are closing in on him.
Episode 75
Daniel sees a widowed couple Eileen and Ron, who are hoping to rekindle their old affair and request Botox. However Daniel suspects that Ron's motives are only sexual and he is proved right. Howard arrests Weston but Noakes takes Lynn off the case and suspends her from duty though Weston refuses to speak to nobody except Rob.
Episode 76
Heston gets involved in a feud between rival ice cream vendors, brothers Ossian and Rowan Jones, but when Rowan has a heart attack and his wife Ava delivers a few home truths it is time to call a truce. At the police station Jimmi examines Weston and regards him as sane but manipulative whilst the obnoxious Noakes calls Rob back off leave to interview Weston and, to his amazement, Rob discovers that he knows him.
Episode 77
At Daniel's request Ayesha visits single mother Bridget Carnell but gets a hostile reception - until Bridget's little daughter Lily goes missing. In fact Lily has gone in search of her half brother Max, who was born when Bridget was fourteen and was taken into care. Now he is eighteen and of an age to meet his birth mother and Lily makes sure that he does.
Episode 78
Rob interviews Weston, who tells him that there are several corrupt officers at the station and Rob is the only one that he trusts. It transpires that they were at school together and when Rob caused an accident Andy Weston took the blame to allow him to go to police college - a fact Rob has kept secret from everybody, Karen included, for years.
Episode 79
Weston gives Rob addresses used by the gang but each one is empty, reiterating Weston's view that they are being tipped off by a police officer. This is confirmed when he is sent a sinister message, leading to a suicide attempt. At the therapy session Emma is shocked when Howard reveals that many years ago he fathered a child whom he has not seen since she was three.
Episode 80
Mrs Tembe gets caught up in a feud between the Degale brothers, who have been at odds since their father died, in a search for a lost lottery ticket. In fact there is no ticket but there is a reconciliation of sorts. Elsewhere the recovered Weston, against the advice of Jimmi and Rob, is driven by Noakes and snide officer Larkin to a safe house but they are ambushed and Weston is taken whilst Emma still finds Howard's admission difficult to accept.
Episode 81
Following the ambush the choleric Noakes becomes even more bullying and unreasonable, especially when Rob goes behind his back to gather information on the progress of the getaway car. Completely losing it he accuses Jimmi and Rob of collusion and suspends them both from duty. On a happier note Al and Niamh share a - possibly accidental - kiss as he leaves to go on a course.
Episode 82
Attending the wedding of school-friend Sophia Zara is amazed to find that Paul, the groom, is fifteen years younger than the bride. Suspecting a marriage of convenience Zara stops the ceremony - though she and Daniel profit as a result. Lynn visits the Hollins and explains to Karen what has happened but Karen is shocked when Noakes barges in, accusing Rob of sheltering Weston and searching the house. After he has gone Rob explains to her how he knew Weston at school and the debt that he owes him.
Episode 83
Diana, a pre-op transsexual living with her pregnant daughter Beth is being persecuted by local bigots, giving her severe panic attacks. Niamh comes to the rescue and discovers who is really behind the harassment and why. Mrs Tembe persuades Heston to create a video blog talking about wine whilst Rob's phone call from Lynn Driver is interrupted when Andy Weston turns up unexpectedly at his house.
Episode 84
Ayesha dates the personable but distracted Dylan, who turns out to be suffering from bouts of deja vu, brought on by stress. She decides to help him relax. Whilst Heston records his video blog Karen is unhappy that Rob is sheltering Weston and suspicious when he claims to have escaped from his abductors.
Episode 85
Blissfully unaware that his vlog is a hit because it shows him with no trousers on Heston visits his friend Karina, a divorcée whose teen-aged son Jordan disapproves of what he perceives as her frequent drunkenness. However when he learns that she has motor neurone disease he offers support. Karen is not happy when Noakes registers at the surgery even though Emma assures her that it is solely for a medical problem. Weston tells Rob that he has the evidence to bring down Tree-House but it must be delivered to a trustworthy police officer.
Episode 86
After Jimmi has advised injured charity runner Guy Fletcher to postpone his upcoming race he discovers from Guy's wife that her husband took up running as therapy for his gambling habit. Unfortunately Jimmi discovers that Guy is embezzling the charity money to still feed his addiction. Rob and Karen join forces to successfully convince Howard and his colleague Daisy that they are not hiding Weston but they are unaware that Lynn Driver is watching the house whilst Niamh cheers up Emma, upset at her split from Howard, by showing her Heston's vlog.
Episode 87
Under the guise of a country walk Karen successfully retrieves Andy Weston's bag of evidence despite the fact that Mrs Tembe insists on accompanying her. However Lynn Driver is observing her. Ayesha and Niamh try to think up diversions to cheer up Emma whilst Heston's vlog does the rounds of the surgery and Emma has to explain to him the reason for its being such a huge success.
Episode 88
After Daniel finds a surly young girl, Mia Kelly, hiding in bushes he and Zara discover that she has run away from a drunken mother but then taken in by Rhys Elliot, who, having offered her shelter, has subjected her and other girls to sexual abuse, causing her to run off again. They call in Daisy Murray, whose presence upsets Karen, as Zara notes. Meanwhile Ayesha and Niamh are less than impressed by Emma's new hobby - speed-walking.
Episode 89
Paranoid student Connor Price has failed his course but his friend Lucy discovers this by accident and tells his mother. Ayesha, however, discovers that his odd behaviour has a medical reason. Bored with being cooped up Andy runs off but is brought back by Lynn, who expresses dismay at Rob's lack of trust in her. Together they agree to use Andy and his evidence as a means to flush out the corrupt cop whilst Niamh signs herself and Emma up for a charity challenge.
Episode 90
Whilst volunteering at a local retirement home Mrs Tembe meets Herb Ashwell who has a recurrent dream in which he and his fellow residents drop dead as their number is called out at a bingo session and which he believes will come true. As Mrs Tembe talks to him she realizes that his conspiracy theory stems from the unexpected death of his wife and she attempts to help him come to terms with it before he too passes on.
Episode 91

Stealing Rob's car Andy phones a man called Mal McBride offering to give him the evidence in exchange for his being allowed to escape. He suggests the hand-over take place at a public square where Mrs Tembe and Al are taking part in a blood donor recruitment drive but he is shot by a sniper. Lynn and Rob come to his rescue and, in doing so, eventually expose the paedophile ring led by McBride as well as the police mole. This is good news for Mia Kelly and her friend Jade, who were among the gang's victims and who assist Zara and Daniel in identifying the culprits.
Episode 92
A new nurse arrives in the form of party boy and ladies' man Hayden Connor, who is a definite hit with flirtatious pensioner Lynda Harris. After Lynda has suspected him of robbing her Hayden uncovers the real thief, whose choice of spoils is unusual. Meanwhile Noakes finds himself defending Lyn and Rob for their actions in trapping the corrupt officer - who remains cold and heartless under DCI Fleeshman's questioning, naming financial gain as their motive.
Episode 93
Following a visit from his ex-wife Caroline, who has returned to the area after her father's death, Noakes goes to see Rob, who gives him a piece of his mind. Noakes does, however, commend and reinstate Rob and Lynn, offering to help her with her adoption application. Daniel , aware that Noakes' bad moods are in part down to his illness, is sympathetic but Jimmi is hostile and resigns as a police doctor. Ayesha agrees to a night out with Hayden whilst Zara considers quitting the job for a year to be a full-time mother to Joe
Episode 94
On her day off Mrs Tembe is persuaded by vicar Derek Hogan to help tidy the church hall so she bribes Niamh and Ayesha into assisting. However they are hi-jacked by Women's Institute members led by Maureen Whittaker who kidnap Derek in an effort to force him to marry two of their Lesbian members. Niamh uses her experience with Sean to try and mediate.
Episode 95
Jimmi sees new patient Ryan Roper, an ex-prisoner who was partly convicted by Jimmi's evidence and is hostile. However he has terminal cancer but has not told his wife and when Jimmi persuades him to do so it only makes matters worse. Though Al and Hayden get off to a bad start they join Jimmi and Howard for a night at the pub, where Howard considers a partnership with Al over his new project.
Episode 96
Danielle Ashton, a girl with Downs Syndrome, summons Niamh's help when her mother Jane collapses and, when Jane is rushed to hospital, determines to look after herself. Niamh realizes that this is impossible but needs to draw on Danielle's interest in musicals to help her. At the surgery Zara surprises the partners with her announcement and Ayesha fends off Hayden's advances on a night out.

Episode 97
Sabiya, a young Muslim woman, complains of abdominal pains but refuses to let Al examine her. Later the reason becomes clear as Al is left holding the baby and advising her on her future. Emma is taken by Hayden whilst Howard is taken aback by Mrs Tembe's plans to make the Mill a happier work-place.
Episode 98
Hayden tries to help burnt-out psychology lecturer Ian Johnson, bullied by a colleague and at odds with his ex-wife, to realize his youthful ambition but unfortunately the result gets out of hand and is a less than happy one. Meanwhile Al and Howard pitch Al's invention, a diagnostic app, to an enthusiastic potential backer.
Episode 99
Having helped nervous young patient Karl Moran try to save a bird's egg that has fallen out of the nest Zara then gives him the confidence to get rid of an obnoxious hanger-on trying to come between him and the mother of his child. Al and Howard cannot agree as to their collective future whilst Mrs Tembe's happiness project provokes a mixed reaction.
Episode 100
About to move to Australia with his mother Irene to join his wife and children Vince Winter panics when he finds himself out of anti-depressant pills and asks Daniel for some more, explaining that he also suffers from memory loss following a fall. Daniel reluctantly complies but when he later meets Vince who has been involved in an accident realizes that Vince needs more than pills to help come to terms with his past.
Episode 101
Al is perturbed when elderly and confused Charlie Freeman shows signs of bruising and suspects Charlie's carer and daughter, long-suffering nurse Claire who resents his past treatment of his family, of harming him. In fact he is wrong but soon realizes that both parties are in serious need of respite. Hayden joins Ayesha, Emma and Niamh on the charity run, which turns out to be an assault course. All four complete it but it takes its toll on Emma in particular.
Episode 102
Jimmi is dragged into a feud between allotment owners Jeremy Maggis and Clive Brunt when Jeremy accuses Clive of sabotaging his prize marrow. In fact there is more at stake, notably Jeremy's attempts to impress allotment manager Sally. At Zara's farewell party Al makes it clear to Hayden that he is not happy that he ended up in bed with Niamh.

Episode 103
On his first day on the beat zealous young Community Support Officer Martin Davies arrests an arrogant motorist, creating a problem for both himself and Rob. However Martin is determined to have the last word and prove himself. Ayesha, meanwhile, after an exhausting weekend with Hayden, is at a loss to understand why he has such boundless energy.
Episode 104
Zara's neighbour, down-trodden Tess Knight, asks Zara to look after her ailing but cantankerous mother Ingrid whilst she pays a visit to her secret lover Ben. Appalled at Ingrid's treatment of her daughter Zara decides to help Tess break free of her. Mrs Tembe is less successful with her happiness agenda at the surgery.
Episode 105
Niamh drives her neighbour, ex-army major Hugh Caxton, to visit the grave of Jack Fisher, a young soldier who died on active service with him, a fact which still haunts him. Hugh has not been totally honest in telling Jack's family the exact nature of his death but Niamh persuades him that the truth would do them more harm than good. Al gets a better offer for his app whilst Emma's perpetual tiredness does not go unnoticed by Daniel.
Episode 106
When elderly eccentric Arthur King tells Karen that he is a descendant of king Arthur and the rightful heir to the throne she realizes that he is being manipulated by an ambitious journalist and helps to defuse an awkward situation at a civic event. Al meanwhile makes an altruistic decision regarding his app which does not please Howard whilst Ayesha discovers the source of Hayden's energy.
Episode 107
Lecturer Ruth Kennedy, a reformed alcoholic returning to work after treatment, is subject to dizzy spells and refuses to be breathalyzed, causing her student son Alex to believe that she is still drinking. Hayden however believes there is a medical reason for her attacks. Lynn visits Rob with good news and a request while Karen thinks that she knows the reason for Emma's food cravings.

Episode 108
Sisters Cheryl and Tina are at their father's funeral but Cheryl and Tina's husband Tony are appalled that Tina has put the house on the market so quickly and both feel Cheryl could have helped look after the old man rather than prop up an ailing business in Malaga. Daniel is drawn into the row before Tony makes a decision. Meanwhile Zara approaches a replacement whilst Ayesha and Niamh make a surprising discovery.
Episode 109
Zara meets up with Sid to offer him a job at the Mill. Hayden visits the home of a one night stand in search of his Hoodie which contains his drugs. Niamh and Ayesha tell Emma that they know she's pregnant.
Episode 110
As Sid returns to the surgery as Zara's replacement Emma drops her bombshell on Howard and Ayesha realizes that Hayden has drugged her. However her plan to expose him as an habitual user backfires when he points out that both of them would test positive. Meanwhile Heston helps a formerly famous dancer who has fallen on hard times.
Episode 111
When items go missing from the surgery suspicion falls on Jimmi's patient cheeky teenager Albie Cobb, a boastful wheeler dealer. Jimmi tracks Albie down and finds Albie has a bizarre reason for the theft before finding himself in an unfamiliar role. Howard assures Emma that he will support her but she has her doubts.
Episode 112
As part of her happiness project Mrs Tembe arranges a meditation group run by Rudolph Gayle, which gets a mixed reaction. Heston nods off, Ayesha - troubled by Hayden's threats - walks out whilst Emma finds it revelationary. On the golf course Howard confesses a secret to Daniel, as well as voicing his fears about fatherhood.
Episode 113
Whilst shopping for shoes Karen meets Ross Carpenter, who claims that he is buying a pair for his sister. However as Karen rightly guesses there is no sister, only a guilty secret, with which she is able to help him. Emma disappoints Howard whilst Ayesha decides to expose Hayden's drug habit.
Episode 114
Sid becomes involved when Merle Mawby, who runs a highly-rated social blog, is seen to be using a picture of her more glamorous sister Sadie on the website, and encourages her to be comfortable with herself. After Hayden disappears Ayesha confesses everything to Howard and ends up being suspended whilst Rob assures Karen that, although he has agreed to be godfather to Lynn's adopted daughter, their relationship was never more than professional.
Episode 115
Visiting a rough estate Al is car-jacked by Lol, a frightened, injured boy who claims that Al's café owner friend 'Smokey' Robinson attacked him but Al is convinced he is lying and with Rob's help sets out to learn the truth. At the surgery Ayesha's colleagues spring to her defence as she is investigated by Howard but she still feels pessimistic about her future.
Episode 116
Rob tries to cheer up depressed friend Callum Jenkins, a former headmaster depressed by his retirement and still angry at the murder of his wife nine years earlier. However Rob is unaware that Callum has a very dark secret. Howard accompanies Emma to the hospital for her scan with midwife Ruhma whilst Mrs Tembe's laughter therapy session goes unexpectedly well.
Episode 117
Former classmates Mel and Aidan run into each other in the surgery waiting room and immediately clash but when Mel collapses at work Aidan is there to help her. Heston has an encounter with midwife Ruhma in highly unusual circumstances in a book shop whilst Ayesha is reinstated and Emma and Howard start to plan outings together.
Episode 118
Ayesha is sympathetic to feisty mature student Gina Stewart, a former cancer patient who complains of feeling tired but when Gina suddenly becomes aggressive Ayesha turns to Al to get to the bottom of the problem. Emma and Howard discover that they have differing views on parenting whilst Mrs Tembe schools Sid in the art of listening.
Episode 119
Misunderstandings abound when Emma's Polish builder friend Stan thinks his business partner David is terminally ill, Stan's girlfriend Steph thinks David is trying to cheat them and Niamh fears that Emma is going to evict her and Ayesha and sell her house. Not all of these misunderstandings are resolved amicably.
Episode 120
Daniel is concerned for Flo Whittacker, running herself into the ground looking after husband Jordie who has Motor Neurone disease but when Jordie declares that he wants a divorce to spare his wife further suffering Daniel is forced to intervene. Jimmi is not pleased when a patient tells him he prefers to go with Sid and Mrs Tembe offers flower power as part of her happiness project.
Episode 121
Jimmi is anxious to find out why his patients seem to prefer to see Sid but is characteristically cynical when the younger doctor expresses his theories, to him - to Ayesha's annoyance. Howard takes Emma to hospital when she starts to suffer from back pains but on arrival she gets not one but two unpleasant surprises.
Episode 122
Talented young rugby player Sandy Campbell is promised great things by pushy agent Trevor Poole and acquisitive girlfriend Paula but when Sid diagnoses him with a heart condition that could end his playing career Sandy comes to see which of the two is really concerned for his best interests. At the surgery the staff are in shock after Niamh gives them some terrible news, with Mrs Tembe doing her best to hold them all together.
Episode 123
Following the recent bad news Mrs Tembe is caught off guard by a proposal from Jimmi and Daniel whilst Emma feels she should have done more to change events. Al takes depressive Luke Turnbull to task for excessive drinking but after a row with the patient realizes that the symptoms of tiredness are caused by something else entirely.
Episode 124
As Mrs Tembe steps into the breach as practice manager Valerie returns to reception and immediately gets into a misunderstanding with Sid whilst Rob is sympathetic to an overzealous policewoman who has received bad news and Heston supports Emma as she plans the funeral.
Episode 125
Ruhma is concerned for pregnant Pet Delucy, a recovering drug addict, who seems to be dominated by her religious sister Joan but Pet shows that she is able to stand up for herself. At Howard's funeral various staff members have cause for reflection with Jimmi helping Emma whilst Valerie has a confession to make to Sid.
Episode 126
Ayesha gets involved when an ex- of hers, Jack Lawton, wanted for his part in an armed robbery, snatches his new-born baby from girlfriend Holli to use as bargaining power and her powers of negotiation impress Rob. Heston, on the other hand, is not pleased to learn that Mrs Tembe wants to employ midwife Ruhma, with whom he had a difference of opinion.
Episode 127
At Halloween Karen and Rob's quiet night in is interrupted by Raina from down the road who asks them to baby-sit her glum children Ava and Cain. They suspect a sinister motive for her actions but find the truth to be mundane and ultimately reassuring. Elsewhere Emma bonds with Al over their shared grief for Howard and Ayesha and Sid agree to be just good friends.
Episode 128
Heston is shocked by the seemingly unfeeling Gwen Taylor who seems overly anxious to put confused father George into residential care, especially as she stands to inherit the house. However George has not been entirely honest with him. To make matters worse Heston also discovers that his colleagues have approved the idea of Ruhma working part time at the surgery.
Episode 129
Valerie throws a Cook's Heaven party at Karen's house, to sell cookware to the female staff but unfortunately the theoretical patter that she learnt from head saleswoman Trisha in the classroom does not go down so well in the real world as she nearly wounds Mrs Tembe, comes close to offending Emma and ends up getting rather drunk and emotional.
Episode 130
Sid sees Mehak Farhal, an Asian woman who has T.B. but she speaks no English and Sid is concerned that her husband Haridas is preventing her from telling him something. When Emma brings in an interpreter family secrets are exposed. Elsewhere Heston is not pleased by Mrs Tembe's news whilst Ayesha and Al learn that fireworks can be dangerous.
Episode 131
Niamh attends her first patient liaison group, chaired by an officious Ashley and soon finds herself caught up in the sniping between Ashley and Valerie. Likewise Mrs Tembe, as acting practice manager, at a networking event, discovers that some of the other attendees are using her to get at each other whilst at the surgery Heston finds that he is alone in regarding Ruhma as annoying.
Episode 132
Whilst doing a routine check at a retirement home Jimmi witnesses new resident bully ex-workmate Graham Parsons as both of them try to impress fellow resident Maria. However Maria knows which of them she prefers. Valerie brings her differences with Ashley into the workplace whilst Heston is surprised by his reaction to his latest argument with Ruhma.
Episode 133
Al reluctantly attends a presentation given by the rude and bombastic Dr Plumridge, an old enemy of his, but when Plumridge needs his attention Al calls a truce and, helped by Mrs Tembe, diagnoses his condition. Valerie announces that she has split from Ashley and starts to flirt with Heston, whose reaction surprises Ruhma whilst Sid is concerned that his colleagues are over-prescribing antibiotics.
Episode 134
The staff arrive at a disused hospital for the team building exercise organized by Howard and find themselves in a role play with three actors dressed as paramilitaries in which they must work together to dodge zombies and save the world. Their reactions range from bemused to cynical but ultimately they pull together and accomplish their task.
Episode 135
With her colleagues away on the training exercise Karen finds herself stuck with brusque locum Chris Bassey, who immediately antagonizes a feminist patient and with earnest young fund raiser Jeremy Sanders, the victim of an apparent hit and run. Both of course have problems and Karen is able to help them resolve them.
Episode 136
Ex-addict Annie Watkins asks Niamh to sign a form to confirm that she is clean in order to get onto a job creation scheme but Niamh realizes that she has been an unwilling party to something more sinister and involves Annie's estranged mother in helping her. Meanwhile Emma learns that Howard has left her a legacy but is anxious to trace his daughter whilst Sid has no luck in his antibiotics crusade.
Episode 137
Sid's patient Laura Mayer still believes she is being pursued by the man who was imprisoned for stalking her years earlier even though her husband tells her he is now in Scotland. Sid has to work out the medical reason for Laura's apparent visions. Emma gets a cold response on her visit to Howard's daughter Amelia whilst Ruhma and Heston enjoy an afternoon at the opera.

Following up a cryptic entry in Howard's diary Mrs Tembe goes to meet a woman called Yvonne Bailey, whose life he once saved but is now living with a jealous bully. Mrs Tembe steps in to offer Yvonne help but will she accept it? Meanwhile Sid is enthusiastic when Jimmi mentions the upcoming Antibiotics Awareness day.

Mel and Jason attend Ruhma's ante-natal group but have learning problems and Mel's mother Bev is anxious lest the child is taken from them. Ruhma starts to worry that Bev's concern may be more of a hindrance than a help and she should offer more support. Emma is surprised when Amelia turns up, asking to see Howard's house and Valerie is worried after a visit to the doctor.
Episode 140
On the eve of a works tribunal harassed Chloe Grant has a run-in with comic store owner Damian Presley. Al, who is Chloe's doctor and Damian's friend, investigates why and discovers a grudge that goes back fifteen years. Amelia comes to the surgery to learn more about her father whilst Mrs Tembe is worried by Valerie's distracted attitude on Antibiotic Awareness Day.
Episode 141
Returning to work as a police doctor Jimmi sees Oliver Lasalle, who claims to be the victim of an unprovoked racist attack by white lawyer William Fincham but Fincham says that he caught Lasalle trying to rob him. In deciding who is telling the truth Rob and Jimmi discover a revenge motive. Rumah is unimpressed when Heston takes her to an expensive restaurant whilst Amelia asks more questions about Howard and Valerie's actions continue to puzzle Mrs Tembe.
Episode 142
Niamh is saved from a mugger by a mystery man dressed in a super-hero costume and later discovers it is student Danny Cullum, who has adopted a vigilante role to prove himself though Niamh is concerned about the injuries he has sustained in the process. Eventually Danny teams up with security guard Barry to trap the mugger, winning Danny some female affection in the process. Sid however collapses from over-work but at least Emma and Amelia part on good terms.
Episode 143
Ayesha runs into old school-mate Lydia Randall, now a glamorous motivational speaker, but Ayesha discovers that Lydia is using another person's experiences in her talks to compensate for her own failings. A nervous Valerie goes for her biopsy and is supported by cancer sufferer Claire Matthews whilst Emma plans to visit Chris in Australia.

Mrs Tembe steps in to expose rogue builder Brian Hutchinson who has been bullying elderly widow Mrs Marsh into paying him whilst Karen is less than impressed when Rob's feisty cousin Mo comes to stay and the doctors plan a charity calendar.

Bride-to-be Holly Dowling suspects that her groom Ed is having an affair with predatory boss Martha Bullmore and is treated for an asthma attack by Sid - who helps her to see the true picture. Ruhma tells Heston she wants a platonic friendship but Al is smitten by Mo and Mrs Tembe gets no joy in reporting Hutchinson to the police.

Ruhma sees nervous mother Hayley Nichols who feels cosseted by her anxious husband Gareth and angry single parent Jenna O'Brien and discovers why Hayley will not breast feed in front of Gareth and how Jenna is involved. Rob tries to warn Mo about Al's past whilst Mrs Tembe sets a trap for Brian Hutchinson.

Bill Watkins' ecstasy at winning fifty thousand pounds on the lottery turns sour when he and girlfriend Kayley are unable to find the scratch card, which does not bode well for Bill's heart condition. Fortunately Ayesha helps solve the mystery and save their relationship at the same time. Elsewhere Niamh finds out about Al and Mo, Sid collapses from over-work and Valerie's biopsy result is not what she wanted to hear.

Mrs Tembe begins a poster campaign to expose Hutchinson but comes face to face with him and is rescued by an elderly man - though this puts them both in danger whilst Valerie confesses to Karen that she has cancer.

Mrs Tembe recovers in hospital after her attack by Hutchinson whilst Jimmi and Daniel debate her future as Practice Manager. Meanwhile Heston finds himself in the middle of two warring women after a late patient appointed him executor of his will. Caroline Walton and her step-daughter Holly are shocked to find that Caroline's husband's main beneficiary is his secret gay lover - a fact which finally unites them after years of enmity.

Sid is in a car accident caused by depressed teacher Jack Redditch, whose insurance has lapsed. When Sid goes to sort things out with him he is able to save Jack's wife Thea's life as well as unexpectedly revealing an unexpected success on Jack's part. Valerie reluctantly visits Mrs Tembe in hospital.

Daniel visits elderly, confused Arnold Ridgeley whose son Malcolm has turned up to take him to live with him but confusion arises when neighbour Freddie, who has been feeding the old man's delusion that he is Malcolm, also arrives. However Daniel discovers that Freddie is not who he seems to be in more ways than one. Meanwhile Valerie encourages Mrs Tembe to apply for the practice manager job.

Faye Durran, author of a self-help book, returns from America to ask ex-husband Adam Coltrane and their daughter Ellie to her wedding but Ellie is shocked that her mother, who walked out on them, does not regard Adam's chronic fatigue syndrome as a recognized illness. Emma intervenes to prove her wrong. Valerie's outburst revealing that she has cancer causes Daniel to rebuke Al, who had written her off as a hypochondriac.

Put-upon housewife Joan Gray is sad when apathetic husband Joe and selfish, pregnant daughter Becky forget her birthday but when Joan herself turns out to be expecting this comes as a wake-up call to unite the family. Meanwhile Karen decides to play Cupid for Ruhma and Heston.

When pregnant Priya Sutaria smashes a window in the hopes of going to jail to escape from her controlling family who want her to abort her girl child Jimmi and policewoman Jyoti are determined to help her. Valerie encourages Mrs Tembe to apply for the full-time job whilst Al starts to have his misgivings about Mo as a partner.

Embittered divorcee Dave Sanderson, living with MS sufferer mother Angie, does not share her enthusiasm for Christmas and feels betrayed when his brother Sam, her devoted carer, decides to go on holiday. Niamh takes it upon herself to point out his selfishness and help him gain the Christmas spirit whilst Al's efforts to appear unattractive to Mo backfire on him.

Rob catches drunken homeless Malcolm Lowe urinating on the Christmas decorations in Bernard Price's garden but when questioned Malcolm claims that he was paid to do so by a man dressed as an elf. Rob sets out to find him. Meanwhile Mrs Tembe awaits the result of her application whilst Al finds it hard to resist Mo's attentions after a soothing neck massage.

Gay lecturer Matt Flowers is being blackmailed by obnoxious student Jude McIntyre into giving him good grades after he tricked Matt into sending nude photos of himself - with the result that Matt is prone to panic attacks and a nervous rash. Ayesha decides to do something to put a stop to it. Meanwhile Al is shocked when Mo decides that she wants to spend Christmas with him and Valerie rebuffs Ashley after his unsympathetic response to the news that she has cancer.
Episode 158
Mo gets a visit from former boyfriend Lonnie,who tells her he has missed her and wants her to return to Yorkshire with him - leaving Karen and Rob wondering whether to tell him about Al. After being made homeless Ruhma moves into Heston's house along with her two ungrateful teen-aged children, who annoy Heston by playing loud music whilst Sid, after a heavy day shadowing Jimmi in his role as police surgeon, falls asleep at the wheel and almost has an accident.
Episode 159
Daniel finds himself fighting with anguished husband Nathan Price to secure the latest must-have toy for Christmas but is surprised when he discovers Nathan's sad if unnecessary motive. Mo has some good news for Al but Ruhma is upset by her son Shakib's attitude towards Heston and Ayesha tries to cheer an insecure Sid with the offer of a double blind date.
Episode 160
Sid gives encouragement to Rita, whose skin rash is being caused by a neighbourhood dispute, and Annette, who has discovered that her late father was having an affair. Despite losing his voice he accompanies Ayesha on the double blind date - which works out better for him than for her. Ruhma and Heston also get closer.
Episode 161
Research student Renata O'George helps middle-aged gardener Iain Pearson when he cuts his hand but Karen is perturbed by his excessive interest in her - which turns out to be very sad, rather than sexual. Jimmi is not happy when the printers return the surgery calendar but Heston at last starts to bond with Ruhma's children over pasta and quiz games.

Episode 162
Niamh is apprehensive about visiting elderly Mary and Joe Star, given what happened with Walter Milne a year ago but rises to the occasion when Joe collapses and ends up joining them for their baking contest. Ayesha accompanies Valerie to her first chemotherapy session whilst Mrs Tembe finds herself competing with the charming Anthony Harker for Howard's old job. Heston, having planned Christmas for Ruhma and her family, is disappointed when she tells him she feels they are intruding on his holiday plans and moves out.
Episode 163
On the run drug dealer Aidan Milliken takes refuge with elderly, partially-sighted Pat Telford, who seems to believe that he is her late grandson James. Ayesha, visiting her old neighbour, makes him come clean and witnesses a strange bond form between them. New practice manager Anthony Harker arrives to take up his post and is impressed by Mrs Tembe's generosity whilst striking a chord with an initially hostile Valerie.
Episode 164
When Rob investigates the disappearance of Jules Moule's husband Richard he discovers that not only is Richard a crook but Jules may have her own reasons for wanting to be rid of him. Anthony tells the partners that he will keep Valerie on as an administrative assistant, whilst Valerie meets the less than optimistic fellow sufferer Claire on a visit to the hospital.
Episode 165
Attending the wake for the seemingly virtuous Jack Wilton Emma learns from his widow and son Simon that he was a tyrant who made their lives a misery and in whose death one or the other may have colluded, presenting Emma with an ethical dilemma. Daniel is surprised when Anthony tells him that Mrs Tembe was less efficient than everybody thought and Ruhma and Heston come closer to expressing their feelings for each other.
Episode 166
Ella Ward wins a quarter of a million on the lottery but stuns her friend Pennie by saying that she is using it to leave her husband Neil. When Ella feels ill Pennie takes her to see Sid but she develops a crush on him, requiring him to play at marriage guidance. Mrs Tembe helps Valerie compile a bucket list whilst Anthony gives her the good news regarding her employment and Ruhma and Heston plan a picnic.
Episode 167
When Al's patient Steven Keegan claims to have seen the ghost of an elderly woman standing in the road in front of his van Al is sceptical until he learns of a fifty year old incident and meets a lady with Alzheimers. Elsewhere Ruhma and Heston's romantic picnic leads to an important conversation whilst Anthony's plan to rebrand the practice is not welcomed by everybody.
Episode 168
Anthony takes his male colleagues to a wine tasting and wins their approval when they gang up on the pretentious organizer whilst Heston and Ruhma enjoy their dinner date. Accompanied by a less than happy Karen Ayesha is charmed by bar pick-up Jackson, unaware that he has a partner and child and is a liar and - with brother-in-law Dion, a thief who preys on women.
Episode 169
Unaware of the truth Ayesha goes on a date with Jackson but when his girlfriend Leah discovers it she threatens Ayesha and has to be rescued by Karen - before justice is done. Valerie is impressed when Anthony offers to help her fund-raising whilst Ruhma sees Heston freaking out over the phone at an inept delivery firm.
Episode 170
At a boring medical conference Al chats up waitress Lorna Boyd whilst Niamh catches the eye of handsome visiting American Don Anderson. Al then places a bet as to whether he can get Lorna's number before Niamh can get Don's - Niamh winning the bet as well as spending a romantic afternoon with Don which may even lead something more - despite obstacles.
Episode 171
Visiting a retirement village Daniel is dragged in when merry widow Connie Wilkinson takes a shine to new resident Terry Wallace, whom her friend Barbara accuses of being a thief - though Daniel finds that Barbara has her own agenda. Heston is puzzled when Ruhma deliberately tries to get him riles whilst Niamh berates Al for not being more helpful to Valerie over her bucket list.
Episode 172
Called to a road traffic accident Jimmi befriends and administers to dying Nathan Bachman, an embittered divorcee - but Nathan has a dark secret and unless Jimmi uncovers it a young woman could die. Ruhma finishes with Heston after reading how he beat up the burglar in his house and Mrs Tembe is taken aback when Anthony suggests she apply for a practice manager's job at another surgery but Al has a pleasant surprise for Valerie.
Episode 173
Emma visits the apparently agoraphobic Meredith Phelps, who has not left her house in years. When Meredith refuses to let her visiting niece in Emma finds out the reason for Meredith's behaviour as well as playing peace-maker and Cupid for the niece and Meredith's handyman. Meanwhile Al and Valerie successfully perform their magic show, one of her bucket list requests, but Mrs Tembe feels unappreciated by Anthony.
Episode 174
Ayesha's sister Debs turns up, accusing her of ignoring Brenda whilst Valerie is charmed when Anthony accompanies her to her chemotherapy session and Mrs Tembe is left wondering whether he genuinely admires her or wants rid of her when he suggests she apply for a practice manager post elsewhere. Sid steps in when elderly Bernie, who has custody of his grandson Adam Laws, needs to go to hospital and does not trust the boy's irresponsible father Martin to look after him.
Episode 175
Al's old college friend Logan has hit forty but is scared his younger girlfriend, nurse Maya, will leave him for somebody her own age group and when he sees her with another man he gets the wrong idea - leading him to have to question his life-style. Elsewhere Ayesha visits Brenda who, after the expected shouting match, breaks down and admits she hates her way of life - as Ayesha offers to help - and Heston is critical of Anthony, who unfortunately overhears.
Episode 176
Ruhma sees expectant Caz Ellison, who tells her she is afraid her child will be taken from her because of her past life. However Caz has not been entirely honest with Ruhma, putting her at risk when she goes to help her keep the baby. Ayesha finds it difficult getting the necessary assistance for Brenda - who is not exactly cooperating, getting Ayesha flak from Debs.
Episode 177
When Anna Akinwande confesses that her Nigerian mother-in-law is constantly finding fault with her Mrs Tembe gives her some tips in African cookery. But when Anna starts to feel faint and nauseous Mrs Tembe realizes that this may be down to poor food preparation. Meanwhile Karen schemes to get Ruhma and Heston back together and Anthony, Daniel and Sid plan their cycle race to raise money for Hodgkinson's Lymphoma.
Episode 178
At the police station Emma is asked to assess elderly Ken Matthews, the apparent victim of n assault by young tearaway Daryl Cooper - but Emma discovers that Ken is less innocent than he appears and Daryl has a genuine grievance. Sid is embarrassed by Ayesha's drunken actions on a night out whilst Ruhma confesses to Heston that, having had an abusive husband, she is not keen on starting another relationship.
Episode 179
Visiting her friend Nicola Renshaw Karen is concerned that Nicola's vicar husband Frank has gone missing following a row on the third anniversary of their son's suicide. Fortunately Karen believes she knows where he has gone. Sid wins the charity cycle race, proving Anthony to be a poor loser and a possible racist, to Mrs Tembe's alarm whilst Valerie's obsession with her funeral perturbs some of her colleagues.
Episode 180
Valerie attends a stranger's funeral for notes on how to organize her own, meeting Graham, whom she assumes is there for the same purpose though it transpires that he just goes to wakes for the free food. However she is given reassurance by another mourner. Niamh plans a trip home but is upset when her mother rings to cancel it whilst Al pranks Heston with the gift of a spoof calendar.
Episode 181
Anthony finds himself let down by his key sponsor for the cycle race, Jack Rayburn, and challenges him to a golf match to win the money. However an accident on the golf course not only has a surprise outcome for Anthony but persuades Heston that he is getting closer to Ruhma. Al however tries in vain to cheer a depressed Niamh.
Episode 182
Daniel meets an old friend Iain Broderick but Iain's estranged wife Janine turns up, accusing him of infidelity before collapsing. Iain reckons it is a case of obsessive attention seeking but Daniel recognizes that she is ill - though Iain springs a surprise him as well. Valerie attends another funeral and is shocked to see it is for her friend and fellow cancer sufferer Claire whilst Mrs Tembe is confused by Anthony's alternate displays of kindness and offhandedness as she ponders her new job application.
Episode 183
Niamh is concerned that student Lauren Baker is being dominated by her older boyfriend, wealthy Mark Beckford but when Mark reveals that he is ill Lauren wastes no time in showing her true feelings. Ruhma disappoints Heston when he suggests a weekend way together and the devious Anthony suggests Mrs Tembe takes charge of a suggestion box and then sabotages her by deliberately losing the key.
Episode 184
Social worker Anya Brozek moves Jimmi's patient, young Ollie Powell, into his own flat where he is soon influenced by local bad boy Tommo, out to exploit his simplicity whilst Mrs Tembe realizes that she cannot trust Anthony when he rubbishes her ideas regarding the suggestion box and is less than complimentary about her contribution.
Episode 185
Jimmi is amazed to find a hung-over Ollie in custody after allegedly vandalizing a car. However the police find evidence to prove that he was set up by Tommo and his friends whilst a mystery man comes forward to help Jimmi clear his patient's name. At the surgery Ayesha falls foul of Anthony after coming in the worse for wear following a drunken night out - and to add to her troubles a tipsy Brenda arrives just as she is about to go home.
Episode 186
Sid is concerned when young Zethan Moon complains of stomach aches and sickness and suspects that his mother Lucretia, a believer in homeopathic medicines, may be inadvertently poisoning him. However it turns out that the boy has his own agenda. Mrs Tembe has mixed motions when given a better job offer whilst Ayesha finds Brenda as troublesome as ever.
Episode 187
Al has a visit from American friend Grady Roche, who wants them to get married to allow him British citizenship but this is followed by the arrival of Grady's father Jonathan, who explains that his son is bipolar and refusing to take his medication. Al must act as go-between to make father and son see each other's viewpoint. Angry at the indecent haste with which Mrs Tembe is moving on Heston and Jimmy organize a farewell party for her, which she finds very touching. Unfortunately Brenda makes another drunken entrance to upset things.
Episode 188
The surgery is feeling under pressure following the departure of Mrs Tembe, especially Karen, holding the fort alone. She also believes that young Steve Parker, a friend of her son, is on drugs but a visit to his unhealthy flat supplies her with the reason for his illness. Meanwhile Emma, working from home, reaches the end of her tether with ungrateful, unwelcome house guest Brenda.
Episode 189
Emma is summoned when post graduate Neil has an accident at the lab after fellow student Rachel has caught him kissing their teacher Colette. Emma manages to save Neil but Rachel's subsequent actions ensure that there is no happy ending. Ayesha and Brenda move out of Emma's house but Ayesha's need to watch over her mother gets her into trouble at work whilst Valerie considers suing Al for failing to recognize her cancer.
Episode 190
Aftger Emma has examined young Pakistani Qadir, who is covered in blood his wife Yasmin is reported missing by her father. When Rob questions Qadir he uncovers a background of adultery and murder. Meanwhile Ruhma and Heston take their relationship a stage further whilst Anthony ingratiates himself with the partners when he dissuades Valerie from taking legal action against Al and the surgery.
Episode 191
Alone at the campus surgery with Valerie Daniel sees student Mark Walsh who wants a swastika tattoo removed from his neck. Then Valerie tells him that there is a gunman at large in the area with a Nazi tattoo. Panic sets in when another patient voices his suspicions of Mark though the real culprit may be yet another visitor to the surgery and Daniel must act quickly.
Episode 192
Valerie is over-joyed when Anthony arranges for her idol, West End star Ricky Delaine, to visit her at the surgery, causing mixed reactions from reception and an unexpected one from Al. Ayesha, on the other hand, is not at all happy to see her mother kissing her new bit of rough, Ike, whom she introduces as her lodger.
Episode 193
Heston and Ruhma are visiting his friends, former singer Monique Jankovic and her husband Patrick, when Monique collapses and is rushed to hospital. What follows defies logic but provides a form of closure. Karen meanwhile is persuaded by the charming Miles Lucas to play the stock market whilst Ike promises Ayesha he will try and help Brenda, and Valerie is thrilled to have hit the local press with Ricky Delaine.
Episode 194
Ruhma sees the pregnant Hattie and her partner Kate but Kate is perturbed when Hattie's ex-boyfriend Gary, the sperm donor, turns up at the hospital, fearing he wants a claim to the child. Then they are overtaken by circumstances. Ayesha finds evidence that Ike is on heroin but he has destroyed the evidence by the time the police arrive and Jimmi is sceptical of Karen's new-found enthusiasm for the stock market.
Episode 195
Therapist Esther Crafton has recently lost her husband, causing her schoolgirl daughter Sarah to withdraw so Esther is shocked to find her in bed with her patient Tommy Hawkshaw, a boy who is out for revenge by spreading a STD. Esther brings in her friend Daniel to see if Tommy is lying and to find the reason for his wanting revenge. Meanwhile Karen gets into spread-betting and Brenda, faced with eviction, runs off with Ike.
Episode 196
Sid meets his old school dinner lady Victoria Plumb after she has had an accident at a party for her last day at work and ends up helping to play Cupid for her. Another relationship seems likely as Barry is told of Valerie's illness and offers to be there for her whilst Emma cheers Ayesha after her mother's disappearance.
Episode 197
Called to administer to injured taxi driver Ray Dandridge, who has been arrested for drink driving, Jimmi is concerned that he is being bullied by D.I. Larkin - until he realizes that there is a family connection. Meanwhile Rob discovers Karen's secret and Barry gets closer to Valerie during a girls' night in at Emma's house.
Episode 198
Rob gets involved when Cynthia Percifield claims harassment from Gina Lomax, who lives next door. On the face of it Cynthia is a respectable citizen whilst Gina has a police record. However things are not as they first appear. Meanwhile Jimmi tries to help middle class drunk, homeless Vernon Holliday but his charity is not rewarded whilst Valerie, despondent that her chemotherapy is not working, gets an unexpected proposition from Barry.
Episode 199
Whilst Niamh is visiting single father Simon Latch she discovers that his schoolgirl daughter Ellie is being led to believe by her friend that the family has been cursed and that Niamh is responsible, a belief which almost ends in a fatality. Meanwhile Karen's luck runs out on the stock market and Valerie accepts Barry's marriage proposal.
Episode 200
As Zara returns to work Ayesha meets old friend Jake Ashby, who has pancreatic cancer but is keeping it from his wife Gaby to protect her. Gaby, however, misinterprets his secrecy as infidelity and wants a divorce and Ayesha risks her job to save the marriage by disclosing the truth. Meanwhile Valerie and Barry find themselves at odds over what constitutes the perfect wedding.
Episode 201
Karen is taken aback when an abrasive old man turns up at the surgery demanding she repairs his type-writer. He is clearly confused and Karen discovers that he is ex-lecturer Philip Langley who worked at the surgery when it was the campus English department. When he takes off, following a visit from his son, Karen turns sleuth to track him down. Valerie is thrilled when Anthony agrees to give her away at her wedding but Heston and Jimmi are less impressed by his progressive ideas.
Episode 202
Cantankerous, terminally ill Carol Warnock refuses to have a carer, relying instead on put upon daughter Helen After Carol has struck her Helen is arrested for stealing a quantity of sleeping pills and Emma realizes that she needs the help rather than her mother. Elsewhere Sid appears to bond with Anthony and Daniel at a gin-tasting session and Niamh meets a potential admirer.
Episode 203
Sid's friends Jenny and Finn are expecting a baby but she is haunted by the death of her young son from congenital heart disease and Sid needs Ruhma's help in allaying her fears that history will repeat itself. Heston is not happy when Anthony suggests he works part time whilst Barry is even less pleased when Valerie opts for an expensive wedding venue, causing a rift between the couple.
Episode 204
Student Chloe is concerned when her boyfriend Han Shen fails to show for a doctor's appointment and Valerie asks Barry to help find him. The search does not end well but following their spat the previous day Valerie is impressed by Barry's handling of the situation. Meanwhile Zara and Sis also start to get on well.
Episode 205
Visiting Martin, who has suffered a knee injury, Jimmi's suspicions are aroused when Martin's son Paul, who has learning difficulties, is adamant that nobody goes into his room since he has bought a guinea pig without his father knowing. Jimmi however discovers a more sinister reason. Meanwhile a drunken Valerie surprises Barry at their dinner party and Niamh goes on her date with bar pick-up Ben.
Episode 206
Fleeing a shopkeeper schoolboy Leo Campbell is almost run over by van driver Tim Williams, who takes him to see Al. Leo has a fit but the white stuff in his pockets turns out to be sugar he has stolen for his diabetic mother. Meanwhile Valerie chooses her wedding dress and Heston feels increasingly side-lined by Anthony.
Episode 207
Layla is acting as surrogate mother for her brother and his partner but when she sees Al she implies that she wants to keep the baby for herself, putting him in conflict with Ruhma. Niamh learns that Ben has a disabled little boy and agrees to meet him whilst Anthony's deviousness causes Heston to snap.

Young policeman Danny Powell proves to be a great help to single parent Stella Bailey and her unhappy schoolboy son Ziggy but then Rob discovers that he is an impostor, posing as a policeman as he tries to help the inhabitants of the run-down Churchill Estate. Meanwhile Niamh is moved by a visit to Ben's terminally ill son Harry in hospital and Barry supports Valerie as she goes for chemotherapy.

At Sid's mental health awareness display Daniel meets an old friend, Roy Lewis, who is worried about sexual performance given the age gap between himself and his new partner. Daniel sees Roy with a young girl and gets the wrong end of the stick until he finally learns the truth. Daniel also offers Niamh and Ben hope regarding a possible cure for Harry whilst Sid makes Ayesha an offer.
Episode 210
Charged with carrying out the staff appraisals Zara learns some gossip from Karen, who feels inspired. However Al, predictably, is cynical, undermining her attempts to question him whilst Ayesha and Niamh walk out on her and Emma and Heston are offended by the probings into their personal lives. Overall the appraisal is not a success.
Episode 211
Whilst dealing with irritating patient Alexa Williams, who is convinced she has bowel cancer, Sid is interrupted by his college friend Zach, who is desperate to marry anybody to prevent him having to return to New Zealand after his visa's expiry - and to Sid's amazement Alexa comes to his rescue. Valerie has a great hen night with the girls whilst Barry's potentially boring stag night is enlivened by a stripper - much to his annoyance, leading to a confrontation with his obnoxious work-mate Ross.
Episode 212
On the morning of her wedding to Barry Valerie has a strange dream before receiving a call from her specialist which causes her to doubt whether to go ahead with the marriage. A pep talk from Ayesha persuades her to walk down the aisle - but the ring has yet to go on her finger.
Episode 213
Emma is taken by surprise when fireman Frank Parsons, father of her patient Sean, makes a play for her but Sean is also troubled by a persistent admirer, requiring Emma's help. Niamh goes against the advice of Al and specialist Dr Richmond in convincing Ben that Harry is well enough to travel to Switzerland and a possible cure whilst Anthony's new changes antagonize patients and staff alike and Valerie, following the wedding fiasco, needs reassurance regarding life after cancer.
Episode 214
Having seen lorry driver Terry Corbett black out in the street Heston later refuses to pass him as fit for work, leading to a confrontation with Anthony which takes its toll on the older man's health. Elsewhere Ben asks Niamh to convince his ex-wife Sarah to approve Harry's treatment in Switzerland.
Episode 215
Ellen Morrison brings her daughter Kayley, who has severe learning problems, to see Daniel after a fall but has failed to tell her that she is planning to take her to a residential home. At first Kayley's protests seem unreasonable until Daniel finds evidence to support them. Heston meanwhile recovers from an angina attack in hospital, telling Jimmi his concerns about Anthony, whilst Niamh fails to convince Sarah that Harry should go to Switzerland for treatment.
Episode 216
Karen comforts pregnant Trudi Leachman, who has a problem. Because of schizophrenia on his side of the family her partner Philip is not keen for her to have the baby but in fact he is not the father. Karen and Philip's sister help the couple to resolve the situation. Meanwhile Niamh and Ben embark upon a dangerous and illegal mission.
Episode 217
Having tried to persuade elderly asthma sufferer Giles Bloom to get rid of his late wife's cat, Zara comes up against formidable animal shelter director Ren Barley and inadvertently leads to a romance, whilst Jimmi, after speaking to Heston, confronts Anthony, and Niamh returns from Switzerland to make a momentous decision.
