Dan explores a magical undersea world "peopled" by talking fish and ruled by a beautiful and wise mermaid. Much of the drama is fueled by the nefarious Baron Barracuda and his henchfish Trigger who, "dripping" with evil intent, scheme to eliminate Dan and destroy the peace and serenity of the inhabitants.

Diver Dan is perplexed as he descends to the bottom of the ocean. He hears voices. The captain, via intercom, wonders aloud if the pressure is getting to Dan; and Dan wonders the same thing. Meanwhile, Finley Haddock invites Georgie Porgy to listen to Miss Minerva with him; the mermaid promised to sing. Georgie agrees, but before they can take off, Finley hears a squeaking sound. It's a terrified little goldfish, hiding in a hole in the coral. Doc Sturgeon shows up and offers his opinion. Georgie swims off to get assistance from Miss Minerva. But he returns with strange news. He's found a lump of hard water. As the three fish examine this strange object, Baron Barracuda and Trigger Fish lurk nearby.
