Gerald Elliot, a retired senior police officer, formed a neigbourhood watch programme with Leonard Dugdale and Anne Sutcliffe. They apprehended a local youth - David Bodger - whom they suspected of committing vandalism. They then took Bodger to Mrs. Sutcliffe's home for "questioning" before referring him to the police. All three are now on trial accused of actual bodily harm - Bodger alleges he was doing nothing wrong and was beaten up by them. The defendants all protest their innocence. They argue that Bodger was drunk and attacked them; they only struck him in reasonable self-defence.
Episode 5
Simon Matthews says he saw Gerald Elliot holding David Bodger by force and questioning him like a police suspect. Anne Sutcliffe, magistrate and part of the Residants Watch Patrol says she felt they were in their rights to detain suspects.

Episode 6
Gerald Elliot says that people, with knowledge of police work, should take the law into their own hands. He and Leonard Dugdale made a citizens arrest on David Bodger without violence but admits to recreating a police style interview.

Episode 7
Two teenage girls Beryl Betts and Deanna Fine stand charged with robbery and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to William Tucker, a gas board employee. Stephen Harvesty and Celia Harker represent Betts and Fine.
Episode 8
Beryl Betts is from a children's home and took up shoplifting but has not been in trouble since. When she met Deanna Fine it she who copied her look. On the day William Tucker shouted at the pair Fine completely lost it and attacked him.
Episode 9
Deanna Fine says that Beryl Betts instigated the attack on William Tucker, saying she would blame her if she didn't join in. Bett's defence counsel says that Beryl only touched Mr. Tucker when she tripped him up and he fell against her.
Episode 10
Hospital Consultant Surgeon, Michael Greenham claims that Sheila Quentin and the Fulchester Gazette libeled him in publishing comments that he, Greenham negligently caused the death of one of his patients 74-year-old William Broadbent.
Episode 11
Nurse Mrs. Horley is questioned about due diligence for sending William Broadbent home without knowing whether he could manage. Mr. Broadbent had bruises and cuts on his hands from struggling with the nurse who was trying to send him home.

Episode 12
Medical Social worker Jane Goddard says Mr. Broadbent, despite her complaints, was sent home with just a packed lunch. She made application against his discharge and applied for an Old People's Home to take him in but failed follow it up.

Episode 13
Diana Graham is charged with GBH, for pushing Charles James down the stairs during a heated argument. Diana had been staying with Beth, Charles's estranged wife and the fight erupted after Charles attempted a reconciliation with Beth.
Episode 14
Beth's daughter Sandra gives evidence, but her words seem to cause frustration and concern for both counsels. Beth's neighbour Betty Duguid claims to have witnessed the attack, but Mr. Hurst questions her integrity.
Episode 15
Diana is adamant that Charles broke in, attacked her and that he fell down the stairs accidentally during a fracas, Beth tells a slightly different story. The jury have to consider whether Beth is trying to cover for Diana.
Episode 16
Carole Gibbs pleads not guilty to stealing and unlawfully carrying away Michelle Jean Tate against the will of the father Keith Tate in July 1978. Mr. Leigh appears for Miss Gibbs and Mrs. Forrest for the Queen. Justice Galbraith presides.
Episode 17
Jean Tate says she blamed herself for the couple's trouble in conceiving. When Carole Gibbs came to stay, following an abortion, Jean Tate told her that they could bring up the baby. She then encouraged her husband to have baby with Gibbs.

Episode 18
When Keith Tate came into her room with wife's proposal, Carole Gibbs decided to go. When they met up two months later she was pregnant by Robert Ainsworth and agreed to let the couple look after the child until she decided what to do.

Episode 19
Jane Selsey is accused of stabbing and wounding her father. The Defence case is that the wounding was accidental but evidence emerges of some disturbing events and attitudes within this seemingly traditional family.

Episode 20
Mary Selsey is in contempt of court so oldest daughter Paula answers the questions her mother refused to, that Jane was on the pill. Paula explains that her mother had put Jane on the pill at thirteen and both parents have lied under oath.
Episode 21
Dr. Rutherford has interviewed Jane Selsey for the court. He says she has psychologically abnormal attachment to her father. This seems to be entirely based on the fact that her father has been having an incestuous relationship with her.

Mohan Singh Sandhu is accused of killing his cousin Carter Singh Sandu, an illegal immigrant. His body was discovered in the back garden of Mohan Singh Sandhu. He had a wound to the head and been buried in a shallow grave for nine days.
Episode 23
Dr. Ellen Goss did a second autopsy of Carter Singh Sandu and concludes he died of shock and a brain hemorrhage. While he could have died from two blows to the head he might have had similar injuries playing rugby or a possible collision.

Episode 24
Mohan Singh Sandhu is asked why he puts a spade in the boot of his card and failing to contact a doctor. Nigel Latimore QC asks why the cousin who relied on him, for everything, was brutally discard has dead by him in a matter of seconds.

Bookkeeper for Josie Laura Fashions, Miranda Buckingham is accused of the theft of over £100,000 from her employers Samuel Joseph and attempting to pervert the Cause of Justice. James Laughton is prosecuting and Peter Gavin is defending
Episode 26
Miranda Buckingham's former husband Ricky says his ex-wife was far from financially secure having spent all the money her grandmother and mother's had left to it. His own position was no better with the liquidators bleeding him dry.

Episode 27
Miranda Buckingham says that Samuel Joseph created a fake company called Fortuna Fabrics in which she admits to writing cheques when he requested them but denies benefiting herself. To avoid not paying Inland Revenue he committed perjury.

Barbara Caplan is the production manager of Meddings Bottletop Company. Packers Alan Marsden, Michael Harris and Bernard Osgood have been accused of raping her one July evening in her own home. Osgood is the son of the Managing Director.
Episode 29
A doctor's report found the three defendants had sexual intercourse with Barbara Caplan and her body showed signs of heavy bruising. David Thomas arrived two hours after the rape but he denies the prosecution claim that she was in a drunken stupor.

Episode 30
Bernard Osgood claims Barbara Caplan was very drunk and accepted the sexual advances of the trio. Mr. Bryant accuses Osgood of overhearing a conversation between his father and David Thomas and knew Barbara Caplan would be alone all night.

Episode 31
Brian Fuller is on trial for the murder of Roddy Laycock who was found dead in the swimming pool at Fieldcommon Comprehensive School. Fuller is accused of bullying Laycock into taking part in schoolboy ritual which cost him his life.

Teacher Leonard Jenkins says Roddy Laycock's work in class had been deteriorated since meeting Fuller. He had been caught taking chemicals from his lab to make fire bombs. Jenkins also accused Fuller of stealing a book about pyrotechnics.

Jonathan Fry accuses Brian Fuller of plotting to get even with both Mr. Jenkins and the Laycock by getting Roddy to steal incendiaries from his lab. Fuller insists that Roddy wanted to walk the plank and it's they who are looking revenge.

Gregory Deacon and Sally Williams are jointly charged with damaging the grave of the late Guy Benstead. Brigadier Benstead was the local Master of Foxhounds, the accused were active hunt saboteurs.
Episode 38
Brigadier Benstead's son Guy details a campaign of hate his father was subjected to by Deacon. He explains that a smoke bomb let off by the accused, spooked his father's horse, leading to his first heart attack. Deacon begins his defence.
Episode 39
Deacon is cross-examined by Mr. Woolfe, who suggests it was his deep hatred of Banstead that caused him to set off a stink bomb in front of his horse. Esme Farthing tells the court that the couple were in her tea shop the day of the event.
Episode 40
Dorothy Ryan is accused of grievous bodily assault against social worker Hilary Henshaw. Miss Henshaw had deemed that Mrs. Ryan was incapable of looking after her four children and the Prosecution claim that Ryan first threatened Miss Henshaw with violence then attacked her in the car park leaving her covered in blood. The Defence case is that there was no assault - Ryan was upset at the decision but merely wanted to talk to the social worker but slipped on icy ground which resulted in her accidentally knocking her to the ground.

Nigel Egan says that a prosecution was brought against Dorothy for her own good, to begin the process of her getting help. Dorothy says that her kids were not left alone, and that Hilary's injury was accidental.

Dorothy admits that she did leave her children home alone and spend time with different men. Dorothy's previous social worker, Kevin Walker describes her as a good mum, one that did her best in challenging circumstances.

Rita Finch made a very positive impression in her new job in a children's home, in particular showing an ability to manage troubled teenager Kevin Laurence. However she now finds herself on trial accused of indecently assaulting him. The Prosecution allege she allowed her positive connection with Kevin to slide into an unprofessional and intimate relationship. While she accepts her fondness for him she insists their relationship was never intimate and particular doubt is cast on the motives and honesty of chief prosecution witness and former colleague Adelaide Perkins.

Kevin's girlfriend Sharon Tibbs explains that their relationship suffered after Kevin formed an obsession with Rita. Rita tells the court that she did indeed have feelings for Kevin, but never acted on them.

Kevin gives evidence, he tells the court that he loves Rita, but that his love had to rest until he was of age. Kevin's mother describes him as an affectionate boy, and she states that she has total faith in Rita's honesty and integrity.

Writer and former radio researcher Annette Sanderson is being sued for libel by her former colleague Jean Frazer Allardyce. Miss Sanderson does not deny that her comments were defamatory but argues they are true. She claimed that Miss Frazer was a manipulator who used sex to win people round to her side - including herself. She also alleged that Miss Frazer failed to give her proper credit for her part in a successful radio show, deceived listeners and even engineered her dismissal on the grounds of immoral conduct. Miss Frazer retorts that she has always behaved properly and did her best for Miss Sanderson.

Annette Sanderson maintains that every word in her story was true, she's adamant that Jean paid her £5,000 for remaining silent about her affair with van der Rendael. Jean Frazer Allardyce states that every word in the book was false.

The case looks bleak for Annette Sanderson, several witnesses appears for the prosecution, all of whom deny her story. The defence rests on one witness, Aileen Darbishire.

A respected charity administrator faces multiple charges of theft, prompting trustees and staff to question their trust in him. As evidence unfolds, the case examines morality, accountability, and the misuse of charitable funds.

The court hears evidence from two sex workers who were intended beneficiaries of the charity, both of whom deny ever receiving any money. Sergeant North throws more doubt on Marshall's innocence.
