Joe Turner has been travelling through Europe, putting the events of the last season behind him. He ignores his uncle Bob Partridge trying to reach out to him, till he finally decides to call back, but CIA deputy director Reuel Abbott answers , claiming that Bob committed suicide. Joe reluctantly accepts to secures the CIA's asset Vasili Sirin, who only trusts the Turns, bringing him back to the States as Sirin allegedly knows about a mole inside the agency. En route on the highway, their car is attacked by masked gunmen and Sirin's fate is left in question. Abbott aborts Joe's mission and asks him to go back into inactivity. Sam Barber's widow Mae is implied to have started a relationship with Tracy Crane, the father of Sam Jr.'s school friend Anders. After being at a party, Mae's friend Gordon Piper is revealed to know about the CIA mole.
