In Season 5, Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) start to grow closer, but Grant's (Guy Burnet) escape from the psych ward at Chicago Med leaves them both in danger and Severide's commitment issues are an ongoing issue. Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) are back together and now that Dawson is a mom, she begins to reconsider her choice of profession. Casey continues as alderman, but an opponent puts Casey and Dawson in the middle of a political scandal. Tensions rise between Borelli (Steven R. McQueen) and Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker), as Borelli blames him for his brother's death. And Brett (Kara Killmer) and Mouch (Christian Stolte) embark on a new project together.
