Kevin does the right thing despite rightly fearing a knee-jerk reaction from brother Connor by telling him about a suspicious dinner date of his Danielle, whom he already sensed to be less besotted with him. Mick inherits a sailboat in a terrible state which serves as a great excuse to bond again, reminiscing about their father's, with Thomas. Jess keeps 'hating' Bree for 'her' autobiographical novel character, yet commandeers her as moral support when invited to David's grand family residence.

Trace is back after three months triumphant band touring and insists to spend his holiday with Abby and the girls, showing perfect father potential despite them meanly sulking when duly forbidden dangerous things he's not their dad. David receives Jess and still-disgraced support sister Bree at his billionaire family's Maine summer estate, to meet his parents while he runs the family business for recovering father, Dennis. Mick promised to run the B&B with Kevin, which proves hard. Connor reacts meanly when caring brother Kevin informs him he saw his brother's beloved Danielle suspiciously close with her restaurant date.

Trace takes Abby along to enjoy the VIP treatment at his next triumphant band tour, generously protesting to be given more podium time at the expense of his mate, the sinking main attraction star. While David must devote his time to the family empire, his sister Alexandra, who wants to succeed as CEO, warns Bree their parents plan to chase Jess, who is made to feel unworthy, yet ends up scolding them and running home. Forced to spend time with Kevin, whose bigger man-apologies he rudely dismissed, Connor must concede Danielle admitted seeing her ex again and finally makes up with Kevin.

With Simon in town, Bree has to define a new normal, as does Mick and Megan, who begin to suspect that old feelings never go away. Meanwhile, Sarah is injured on the job, and Kevin has to take a step back into his own past to help Sarah move forward.

Simon's English charm finally makes Bree realize he's only helping her and is in love with her. Connor allows gran Nell to 'guilt-blackmail' him into dodging work and helping her find out how her eternal floral show rival and manifold winner cheats, but also why, and after a go at Mick's sanctimonious pretense they're OK agrees to attempt bonding over the yacht repairs. David finds Jess finally learned to run the B&B without him, so they need to divide the tasks. Kevin hesitates to confront Sara with her over-compensating.

While the autobiographic elements of Bree's novel keep stirring the family, she worries when Simon's recurring novel character Caroline proves modeled on an academic literary critic he knows well. Kevin worries he may have to give up either Sara, who returns to her native Philadelphia for a lob, or his home, and takes to a meeting with her family Connor, who learns the hard way her brothers practice American football monster-truck style.
