Anna learns how to use sheepdog Robin in her work with the herd. At the Wolf Science Center, she goes for a walk with a wolf. Anna soon realizes that nothing can be done without a dog. The goats do what they want. From Stefan, she learns how to guide sheepdog Robin and move her herd in the right direction. Dog trainer Johannes shows her what his Border Collies can do. On a trip to the Wolf Science Center, Anna learns what is typical for dogs and what is typical for wolves. She gets up close to real wolves and even walks with one on a leash.

Biologist Jennifer takes Anna on an exciting search for a golden jackal. A sniffer dog is deployed to rule out any confusion. Together with Stefan, she also has to transport animals. The donkeys Max and Moritz are moving to a new pasture for the summer, where they will live with goats and sheep. In the Marchegg floodplain conservation area, Anna encounters wild horses and learns how they help the storks with their dung.

Twice a year, the goats act as landscape gardeners, ensuring that many different plants bloom again. Anna watches over Carinthia to see how the herd is protected from wolves. Shepherd Leopold shows her how livestock guardian dogs protect his dairy sheep. Then Anna heads up to the alpine pasture, where alpine shepherd Anna watches over 300 sheep. She has dogs and donkeys with her for support.

Anna's summer with the herd is coming to an end. Stefan gives her a special assignment: to meet researcher Jennifer and collect golden jackal droppings. She takes the opportunity to take a detour to Lake Neusiedl, where many unusual grazing animals graze. Anna discovers Przewalski's horses, white baroque donkeys, Limousin cows, and even two-legged grazing animals. On their last outing with Stefan, Anna leads the herd alone.
