But just be careful what you wish for, because the price you pay...could be your soul. Welcome to The Drake, the premiere apartment building on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Owned by the mysterious Gavin Doran (Terry O'Quinn) and his sexy wife Olivia (Vanessa Williams), The Drake is home to dozens of residents who are unaware they're living in the dark embrace of supernatural forces. They think their dreams are all coming true, only to find they've been lured into making, what feels like, a deal with the Devil. When a young Mid-western couple - Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Henry Martin (Dave Annable) - is hired to manage The Drake, they soon discover that evil, obsession, and manipulation has a home.

A young couple, Jane Van Veen and Henry Martin, are looking to move up the ladder in New York City and are successful in becoming the resident managers of a swank Park Avenue apartment building, the Drake. They can't believe their good luck - they get a beautiful apartment and the job is part-time, so Henry can keep his job working in the mayor's office. Building owners Olivia and Gavin Doran welcome them, though it is quickly apparent that Gavin at least has the ability to influence people in a very particular way. When Jane finds a mosaic in the basement, she begins to the history of the building. Meanwhile, Gavin has plans for residents Brian and Louise Leonard.

There's not a lot of time for character development in the pilot episode of Crisis, NBC's hostage thriller that premieres Sunday. The first hour is more preoccupied with immersing viewers into the action and getting a couple of major twists out of the way than delving into the depths of its major players. But here's what we do know: A bus of children is taken hostage by a group of highly trained criminals while on a field trip. What do the bad guys want? It's unclear. But the children's parents all hold positions of power in Washington, D.C., ranging from the CEO of a major corporation (Gillian Anderson) to the president of the United States. There's also a nearly unrecognizable Dermot Mulroney playing a shlubby parent chaperone who's an embarrassment to his daughter, but who defies expectations when it comes to the events that unfold. And in a made-for-TV coincidence, the no-nonsense FBI agent in charge of the case, Susie Dunn (Rachael Taylor), is the estranged sister of Anderson's character, Meg Fitch.

Question: Zero Hour canceled. OK. I get it. The ratings were too low in that time slot. But then I don't get it. This was, what, a planned 10-episode season? Three down, seven to go. It was always planned to be a mid-season short-run program. Aren't all the episodes already filmed and ready for broadcast? So the ratings are so low that they are willing to call it a complete loss? And execs think that reruns will generate more revenue in that same slot against the same competition? If you are losing the time slot ratings already, how does airing reruns change that result? And why not move shows like this to Saturday? They have already given up on Saturday programming as it is. At least let seasons like this run their course. — Joe
