Judge William "Billy" Priest lives in a very patriotic (Confederate) southern town. Priest plays a laid-back, widowed judge who helps uphold the law in his toughest court case yet. In the meantime, he plays matchmaker for his young nephew.

In 1536, in Veracruz, Mexico, during the Inquisition, an alchemist builds a mysterious and sophisticated device named Cronos to provide eternal life to the owner. In the present days, the antiques dealer Jesus Gris finds Cronos hidden inside an ancient statue while cleaning it with his granddaughter Aurora. He accidentally triggers the device and soon his wife Mercedes and he note that he has a younger appearance. Out of the blue, the stranger Angel de la Guardia visits Gris's shop and buys the old statue. On the next day, Gris finds his shop trashed and Angel's card on the floor. He pays a visit to Angel that introduces him to the eccentric millionaire De la Guardia that explains the healing power and the eternal life given by Cronos. Angel is sent by De la Guardia to hunt down Gris to get Cronos no matter the costs.

Some of the townspeople believe that the culprit is a huge killer bat, and Professor Paul Kristan, the most respected man in the village and the fiancé of town belle Marguerite Mane, advises everyone to stay indoors at night. David, a young man who has known Marguerite since childhood and is in love with her, becomes convinced that the blood sucking fiend is not a bat, but a human preying on the suspicions of the townspeople. The villagers, however, refuse to listen to him just as Marguerite refuses to accept David's contention that she is not really in love with Paul. Paul summons his foster father, Dr. Anders Bizet, and tells him of the strange headaches he has been having and of the mysterious deaths that have plagued the village. Bizet quickly realizes that Marguerite idolizes, but is not truly in love with Paul and tells his foster son his impressions, prompting Paul to go to her house that evening for a talk. On the way, Paul turns into a vampire and, arriving at Marguerite's home, attacks her servant, Anna, but runs when her screams attract the attention of the entire household. When Bizet shows up on the scene, Zan, Paul's hunchback servant and confidant, provides an alibi for Paul, causing public suspicion to turn to Zan. Nonetheless, Paul realizes with despair that his headaches and swooning coincide with the timing of the murders, and he returns to Marguerite that night in order to set her free from their betrothal. In the meantime, Bizet confronts Zan and learns that he has been protecting Paul by disposing of the bodies of his victims in a pit in the cave. John Mane, Marguerite's father, leaves Paul alone with her, and when she sees that the light hurts his eyes, she turns out the candles one by one as Paul tells her of his illness and fears. When the clouds obscure the moon, temporarily plunging the sky into darkness, Paul is once again transformed into a fiend and attacks Marguerite. Zan breaks in just in time to deflect the vampire bite from her neck. The mob of angry villagers following Zan mistakenly sees his action as proof of his guilt, and chases him up the hill and into the cave. When Paul recovers from his transformation, Bizet tells him the truth: his mother was attacked by a giant African bat shortly before he was born, yet for forty years he had shown no sign of inheriting the dreaded vampire curse. Bizet, Paul and David then set off to save Zan from the crowd's wrath, and Paul makes David pledge to take care of Marguerite. Paul admits his guilt to the townspeople, who turn sympathetic, and then jumps off a cliff to his death. The devoted Zan, stricken with grief, follows him before the townspeople can stop him. Bizet breaks the bad news to Marguerite, and she leaves the cave in the care of David.

Frankie goes to reform school with dreams of leading a decent life, but those dreams are shattered when he is sentenced to the state penitentiary for slugging a trusty who was cruel to a fellow prisoner. His term completed, Frankie decides to go home to St. Mary, Ohio, and is accompanied by Jud Mason and Bert "The Mouse" Gatto, two friends from prison. Frankie finds that St. Mary has changed, however, and decides to move to Cleveland, where Carol has a struggling career as a singer. Carol convinces Frankie to settle down in Cleveland and get a job, but his plans go awry when, returning home one evening after a date with Carol, he learns that Jud and The Mouse have gone to rob a restaurant. Frankie rushes to stop them, but is too late, and arrives just as a man is killed. Frankie refuses to let Carol testify in his behalf and is convicted and sentenced to death. Meanwhile, Charley Smith, the only classmate of Frankie's who has become financially successful, invites his old schoolmates to return to St. Mary for a reunion. Under a cloud of gloom, the class reassembles and Carol and former classmate John Shelley beg Charley to help Frankie, but he smugly refuses. Hearing of the reunion, Frankie escapes from his cell and speeds home, bursting into the schoolroom just as Carol denounces Charley for his lack of compassion. After urging Carol to forgive Charley, Frankie bids farewell to his old schoolmates and leaves the building. Moments later, the sound of gun shots signal Frankie's death.

GreasePaint is a documentary film by Daniel Espeut that follows Joey Thurmond and his family as they travel around the country performing the art of American circus clowning. The movie resurrects the dying art of clowning demonstrated by Joey's love for the craft and makes sure that people see the human side of clowning. While the over-arching story focuses on Joey and his ability to balance the business and family life, the viewer also hears from circus performers, old and new, discussing the positive and negative connotations that people have of clowns. Having started the clowning full time, Joey Thurmond has put his life savings and police pension into his ultimate passion. He overhauls the new show completely with a new background, traveling set, and living quarters. The family starts the year not knowing whether they will have enough money to make it back home from the road. His wife, Jamie, manages a lot of the day to day affairs and keeps the peace in the family. Joey's son, Tyler, weighs his options of staying with the business or pursuing his own dreams. Hernan Colonia, a late-comer to the show works on adjusting to his new surroundings and unfortunate immigration situation. The movie is a glimpse into a year of traveling in the most significant and dynamic year in the business' history while examining the clowning world as a whole. The audience sees the backstories of quite a few of the characters including Joey's rise from professional wrestler, to police officer, to clown. It is about the love of a family and how they manage to live and work together 24 hours a day while following their circus dreams.

Home for Christmas is a made-for-television film about a young girl who wants a grandfather for Christmas. She chooses an elderly, homeless ex-con (Mickey Rooney) as her pseudo-grandfather and he teaches her and her family--as well as his long-estranged son--the true meaning of Christmas.

While on a pleasure cruise to South America, Richard Fleming, an idle playboy, docks in Rosarita. There he hails a motorcycle taxi owned by Roberto, who then drives him into a canteen, where the beautiful señorita Juanita is seated. Deciding to remain in Rosarita to court Juanita, Richard hires Roberto to drive him to her father's maté plantation. There he meets Alexander Komac, a buyer who is trying to corner the maté market and force the planters to accept his low price. Pretending to be a maté buyer himself, Richard approaches Don Miguel, Juanita's father, who formally introduces the American to his beautiful daughter. Richard agrees to buy a small quantity of maté from Don Miguel, but when his father refuses to provide him with the funds to make the purchase, he arranges for friends in New York to import the maté. Meanwhile, Roberto brags to the planters that Richard intends to buy all the maté in Rosarita, and they plan a surprise dinner in his honor. At the dinner, Richard learns that he has been anointed maté king of Rosarita and is forced to confess his deception. Learning the truth, Juanita spurns Richard, and as he plans to leave the town in defeat, a cablegram arrives from New York pleading for more maté. Roberto tricks Juanita into coming with him to prevent Richard from leaving, and the three return to town to begin Richard's new career as maté importer.
