"Headline Crasher" is a Conn Pictures Corporation production that was distributed on a regional basis by Guaranteed Pictures which, for the sources that seem to think otherwise, was a distribution company and not a production company. It was adapted by Harry O. Hoyt from Peter B.Kyne's "Motion To Adjourn" with the screenplay supplied by Sherman L. Lowe. It is another in the series of Frankie Darro/Kane Richmond pictures produced by Maurice Conn, with Darro as Jimmy Tallant, the care-free son of Senator Tallant, who feels compelled to help people he thinks are in distress and, by doing so, stays in trouble of some kind. The Senator is running for re-election, and is opposed by a newspaper that assigns reporter Larry Deering to the task of writing stories that will lead to the Senator's defeat. Scarlotti, a paroled convict leader of a gang of bank robbers, also has a bone to pick with the Senator. Jimmy's handy-andy good deeds gets him seemingly involved with the gang and this also brings up some situations that does not help his daddy's re-election bid.

Elle wants to be a singer/songwriter, but her dreams are cut short by the sudden death of her parents. She moves in with her adoptive uncle, who runs a small independent record label whose biggest act, Sensation, is also Elle's biggest pain. The pop music environment at the label, very different than the country roots she is used to, adds to Elle's feelings of loss and frustration, and her misplaced guilt, which is caused by the fact that her parents had been en route to her performance at the time of her death. But when she meets Ty Parker, a famous pop singer with a passion for "real" music, her repressed ambition is released through a revitalized interest in singing and songwriting.

Her fellow showgirl Millicent Hamilton will not be at the party. Millicent was once a small-town girl who was planning to marry her beau, Wendel Hope, until she won a beauty contest. Her prize was a trip to New York, but life there was more difficult than she expected, and a sexual encounter associated with trying to advance her show-business career resulted in her also contracting syphilis. Respected Dr. Hampton informs her that she can fully recover and eventually marry Wendel if she takes the slow and intensive but proven therapy, but when she leaves New York for home--which means therapy with another doctor--Dr. Hampton warns her to beware of quacks who might promise expensive miracle cures. Will she heed Dr. Hampton's advice, or will she fall prey to the hope of a quick cure so that she can marry Wendel sooner?

He "becomes her arms" and the "two" undertake a grisly campaign of murder and revenge.
