Incident at Loch Ness
This is a mockumentary within a mockumentary. The ensemble cast is a Who's Who of modern filmmaking, from Werner Herzog, independent director (Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), Grizzly Man (2005), Rescue Dawn (2006)) playing himself directing a documentary, to cinematographer Gabriel Beristain (of the Blade movies) playing himself, to Sound Recorder/Mixer extraordinaire Russell Williams II (of Independent Lens (1999), Moesha (1996), Training Day (2001)) playing himself, to.. well you get the idea. Throw in the legend of Nessie and you've got a totally hilarious thriller mockumentary directed by Zak Penn. Make sure you watch the commentary with the Director and cast members, which continues the fiction of the movie. It's brilliant.

Quigley
Archie is a rich and utterly despicable practical joker. He is one week away from playing a CD-ROM that will change the lives of his trusted manager, Dexter, and other employees forever when he is suddenly involved in a deadly accident. He quickly discovers that instead of entering Heaven's pearly gates, he is being sent back to Earth to clean up the mess he created. Since he has an absolute dislike for animals, especially dogs, it is quickly decided that he should be returned to Earth as a dog and not just any dog, mind you, but a fluffy white Pomeranian named Quigley. Sweeney, an "observing" guardian angel, will accompany him. He is the only person who will actually see the real Archie. Everyone else sees Quigley. He's given two very different assignments. One is to retrieve the CD-ROM before it's played and the other is to help his brother, Woodward, and his family, whom he hasn't talked to in years. Quigley (a very confused Archie) has much to do and little time to do it.

A Little Stiff
Caveh is a neurotic film student who has recently begun therapy. Caveh is nothing if not sincere and so he resolves to try his best to change. He meets Erin, an art student, in an elevator and feels immediately attracted to her. But instead of engaging in his usual "kamikaze" tactics, he decides to try to "not push her". He pursues this tactic to the point of near absurdity and finds himself increasingly befuddled and in pain. But a pattern starts to emerge; every time he is about to give up, some hope-inducing thing happens which sets the wheels of courtship in motion again. But her attitude is consistently and bafflingly inscrutable. A rival appears and then disappears. What does it all mean? Caveh wants to know, but keeps hitting his head against the same wall. Finally he abandons his therapist's advice and follows his own intuition. He doesn't get what he was hoping for, but gets something more precious and ultimately far more real.

Dan is building a new platform for the town's traditional nativity scene, but he is the mayor of the town, the platform is being built with city money, and it's on city property. To top things off: Dan is even married to Kristen (Nancy Stafford) the girl both Dan and Mitch liked in high school. The first thing Mitch does is file a legal injunction against the nativity citing separation of church and state. The second thing he does is decide to run for mayor against his main rival Dan; Dan has been the mayor for years. Mitch accuses Dan of forcing his Christianity upon the entire town, then Mitch goes on a rant about the arrogance and hypocrisy of all Christians. Mitch has a way with people, and plans to bring more business to the town, and soon he begins swaying business owners all over town to abandon "Merry Christmas" for "Happy Holidays." Two sub plots involve Dan and Kristen's children. Their son, Cody, is a skier in competition with a girl for the upcoming Christmas race. Their young daughter, Makayla, is excited to be the angel in the church Christian pageant for the first time. After a judge comes to town to review the injunction and confirms they do not have a legal right to put the nativity on city property, Dan and Kristen have a meeting with their Pastor and a few other people to decide what to do about the nativity. Kristen draws the attention away from the nativity and toward the real meaning of Christmas. The pastor agrees, and between them the group decides to start acting like Christians "with a capital C," and they begin reaching out to the community in practical and helpful ways. These actions create a different atmosphere that spreads throughout the town...even, eventually, effecting Mitch.
