For Colored Girls
The movie is based on Ntozake Shange's play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf." Unlike the original play which featured only 7 women known by colors performing the collection of 20 poems, the movie has given each of the 20 characters names. Each of the poems deal with intense issues that particularly impact women in a thought-provoking commentary on what it means to be a female of color in the world.

Many Rivers to Cross
During 1798, Bushrod Gentry (Robert Taylor) is a Kentucky trapper who travels from place to place, sometimes staying with settler families for a night or two before moving on. Being a handsome man he often breaks the hearts of the unmarried young daughters of his hosts and it always leads to proposals of marriage from the girls' part. This causes Bushrod to quickly pack his gear, give the smitten girl his standard speech about why he cannot marry or settle down and depart in a hurry, leaving the girl in tears. But one day, after being saved from an Indian attack by young Scottish woman, Mary Stuart Cherne (Eleanor Parker), he takes shelter with her family until his injured arm can heal. Invariably, the girl falls for his charm and asks him to marry her. Bushrod gives her his standard speech and thinks he's off the hook but stubborn Mary Stuart is not so easily dissuaded. This leads to lies, insinuations, evasive actions, hilarity, fist fights with her brothers, a shooting contest, broken promises and a shotgun wedding. Bushrod is determined to leave and he has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Secret Millionaire
Sean Peyton is the heir to the fortune amassed by his father, William Peyton Jr., through his real estate development company, Peyton Enterprises. Unfocused Sean has moved from one uncompleted pursuit after another in trying to find a passion in life, all he knowing is that real estate development is not it. Currently unemployed Sean has been pressured by William, with who he has a strained relationship, both to join the business and to foster a romantic relationship with Candice, the daughter of a competitor, to build a development conglomerate for the future, neither in which Sean has an interest. So William gives him an ultimatum: find a job within a week and stick with it, or else he has to join the company or risk being cut off entirely, the cushy privileged life which Sean has enjoyed. Concurrently, Sean meets Allison Johnson, a law student by day, and food truck assistant and community volunteer/activist by "night". One of Allison's passions in that latter category is to stop the demolition of the largely natural Fountain Green Park, one of her favorite places, the edge of the park where the food truck, called C'est Si Bon, is often located, to be replaced by a shopping development. She is protesting largely against the developer: Peyton Enterprises. In his attraction to her, Sean does not tell her who he really is, he letting her assume he being a working class stiff like her. In Sean's pursuit of Allison, he may find some passions in life, but they may be threatened, including a relationship with Allison, when he has to come clean to her about who he is, she who is already suspicious of men in general having been hurt in a previous serious relationship. Meanwhile, Allison's best friend, Beth, who is also working to stop the park development, is torn between two men: Caden, who she has just started dating despite they seemingly having no common interests; and Pascal, who has just joined in the fight against the park development and with who she seems to have everything in common.

Dog Day Afternoon
Based upon a real-life incident that occurred in August 1972 in which a Chase Manhattan Bank branch in Gravesend, Brooklyn, New York, was held siege by Sonny, a Vietnam veteran turned bank robber determined to steal enough money ($2500) for his wife (Leon, a transvestite; the two were, according to an onscreen TV news report, married in a church by a priest who was defrocked shortly afterwards, although Leon tells the police that Sal is "married and has children") to undergo a sex change operation. The real-life character upon whom Leon is based did, in fact, get the operation. On a hot summer afternoon, Sonny and two cohorts, Stevie and Sal, go to rob the (fictional) First Savings Bank of Brooklyn. Stevie soon gets nervous and flees. Although the bank manager and female tellers agree not to interfere with the robbery, Sonny finds there is not much to steal, as most of the cash has been picked up for the day. Sonny then gets an unexpected phone call from Captain Moretti of the NYPD, who tells him the place is surrounded by the city's entire police force. Having few options under the circumstances, Sonny nervously bargains with Moretti, demanding safe escort to the airport and a plane out of the country in return for the bank employee hostages.

Sweet Dreams
Patsy Cline was the first female solo artist to be elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Thirty-two years after her untimely death in a plane crash in Tennessee, her "Greatest Hits" album sold over six million copies. Loved by her fans today as much - if not more - than she was at the height of her fame, the life, the loves and most of all the voice of Patsy Cline is legendary. This film tells the story of the passionate, fun-loving, soft-spoken, loud-living life of one of country music's - and one of popular music's - greatest singing stars. This film covers the years 1956 through 1963, from her rise to fame and the top of the charts through TB talent shows and country bars - through her turbulent marriage to Charlie Dick and the demands of touring which would lead to the fatal plane crash.
