Ten Years Taiwan
What will our lives be like 10 years from now? Five up and coming Taiwanese directors each offer their own take answering this question. In 2028, Taiwan is suffering from nuclear waste ("The Can of Anido"), migrant workers ("942"), industrial collapse ("Way Home"), low birth rates and diversity in families ("A Making Of"), and insomnia ("The Sleep"). These destructive issues are the results of our present day. One man's old wounds return as environmental pollution disrupts societal relationships, blowing back as an attack on mankind. The film asks, how did things get this bad? And it asks once more, are these problems exclusive to Taiwan ten years from now? Of the five films, only "A Making Of" has a happy ending.

Analysis Paralysis
Analysis Paralysis is an LGBTQ romantic comedy about the intersection of imagination and anxiety, and the courage to reach for love. The story begins when Tyler O'Conner, a young gay author, visits a therapist and discovers that he suffers from an anxiety disorder commonly called "Analysis Paralysis" - an inability to take action without imagining the ways that each possible choice could go wrong. The problem is that, unchecked, the condition will lead Tyler into a state of complete inaction. To confront the disorder, Tyler decides to fight through his anxiety and ask his cute neighbor, Shane, out for coffee. Despite a flurry of imagined disasters, the date goes well, and Shane and Tyler ultimately become involved. Against all odds, the relationship moves forward, but not without every step of the way - sex, moving in together, and meeting Shane's parents - preceded by an avalanche of negative, albeit hilarious, fantasies. Finally, convinced that Shane is leaving as a result of an uncomfortable interaction with Shane's mom and dad, Tyler steels himself for what he sees as the inevitable rejection. But Shane has other plans.

The World Without You
A grieving family gathers on the Fourth of July weekend to honor the memory of their journalist son, Leo Frankel, who was killed in Iraq the previous year. They are confronted with old hurts as well as many dark secrets that threaten to tear the fragile threads that are just barely holding the family together. Leo's mother Marilyn, entrenched in grief, drops a bombshell when she announces that she's leaving her husband David, who has moved on from his mourning and still holds a grudge against Leo for his decision to go to Iraq and leave his wife and toddler behind. Marilyn's desire to discover what actually happened to Leo has become an obsession: she will risk everything to find the truth. Meanwhile, Leo's widow Thisbe hasn't come to terms with how falling in love with a new man will change her dynamic with the family, and she struggles with how best to let them know without causing further despair. Clarissa, Leo's eldest sibling, desperately wants to conceive, a compulsion that threatens her marriage. Personal quarrels and long-held animosity between Leo's siblings plague the family and are only intensified by his memorial, while his sister Noelle grapples with the fact that she was the last to see Leo alive during a trip to Jerusalem. Quarrels, battles, and emotional outbursts continue to distract from the real reason the family has come together, which is to honor their son, brother, father, and husband. Will this dysfunctional family reunion bring them closer together or drive them further apart? Based on the acclaimed novel by Joshua Henkin.

Socialphobia
People tend to be intentionally provocative or extremely argumentative over petty matters on twitter. A woman who challenges men becomes targeted as a public enemy. Young men expose her identity and even show up on her doorstep. But what they find is MIN Ha-young, the woman who had hanged herself. What caused her death? Was it by suicide or murder? Socialphobia addresses the question of adopting a different identity on the Internet through the death of a woman. Two young men Ji-woong and Yong-min who were preparing for the police academy exam become involved in the case. What apparently looks like suicide is held under suspicion by the two as foul play. After posing the possibility of homicide, the young men return to the crime scene. However mystery itself does not seem to be the point of this film as it gradually exposes during the course of finding the truth to MIN Ha-young's death, her life as it really was and what the two men in pursuit of the real cause of her death wanted to prove.

23 Kilometres
On the Damascus Road in Lebanon's beautiful Bekka Valley, an Armenian man with late-stage Parkinson's takes one last journey. This impressionistic film is a journey into the mind and life of a man with a crippling disease. In addition to the tremors and shakes, Barkev suffers from the lesser known 'monster' of Parkinson's, the relentless hallucinations that swing him back and forth between time and space. A machine maker and an amateur cosmologist, Barkev can no longer speak. Yet through his journals, his machines, and powerful imagery with music, the film travels both physically and metaphorically into the past and the future of both the man and his country Lebanon, a country debilitated by sectarian division not unlike Barkev's Parkinson's diseased body, left a shell of its former self by war, dwelling on the past, unable to imagine its own future.
