Conquerors of the Useless follows Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life - and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado. Jeff's life turns when he meets up in a rainy hut with Chouinard and Tompkins who, once driven purely by a love of climbing and surfing, now value above all the experience of raw nature - and have come to Patagonia to spend their fortunes to protect it.

In busy downtown Seoul, a thuggish young man notices a fresh-faced college student who sits on a bench. He stares then sits next to her. She looks at him as if he's vermin, rises and walks to another bench. He sits staring. Her boyfriend arrives, she points to the stranger, the boyfriend shrugs and puts his arm around her to walk away. The stranger starts to leave as well, turns, goes to them, takes her face firmly in his hands and kisses her long and hard. The boyfriend tries unsuccessfully to break them apart, then soldiers beat the stranger. She demands an apology. He is silent. She slaps him and spits on him. They leave. The next day, he sets out to ruin her. How can this end?

The film's female lead, Naina (Preity Zinta) narrates the story. Her father had committed suicide years ago which left a deep impact on her heart. Her family is dysfunctional since her mother and grandmother just cannot stop arguing. But when Aman (Shahrukh Khan) arrives next door, the whole gloomy conditions change. Aman infuses life in skeptical and overtly serious Naina, and she falls in love with him. But Aman knows that he cannot marry Naina because of a secret which he cannot divulge to her. So he intends upon setting her up with her best pal Rohit (Saif Ali Khan).

Meanwhile, Karim finds his own marriage threatened when his attractive hotel co-worker (Florence Loiret-Caille) declares an interest in him.

Stan returns home and his co-worker and roommate Christian wants to know why Stan changed his shirt. Later it is revealed the shirt was blue. Something blue was in the trash at that gas station and the camera spent a lot of time showing that trash container. Stan's friend Billy has broken up with Alice, who is still in college in Ohio, and returns home to this parents outside D.C. Stan and Billy spend a lot of time together. There is a pretty and sarcastic girl who insulted them in the bar where they were drinking. Not a good idea. Billy talks to Alice a lot but she's not really there. Stan had his own bad breakup, with pretty Ashley, who he dated for five years. Ashley is missing and it's a big news story. It is eventually made clear that it is Stan, not Billy, who is going off the deep end. One day neither Stan nor Christian show up at the automotive sound equipment store where Stan is a manager.

At a book reading, a woman gives him her address, and the next day they meet and take a country-side drive to a local Italian village. Amy, feeling drawn towards Paritihi and intrigued by Indian culture, asks him to be her guide around the town and to show him the ways of his country. Soon a tender romance develops between them. However, Amy is too be married to officer Robert Ellis, a cruel man appointed by her father, forcing Amy and Paritihi to fight for their love.

A likeable but full-of-himself high-school hockey star winds up being the new den "mother" of his little sister's troop of Bumble Bees. In the fall of 1944, German officer Hans Von Kroner is infiltrated among Allied POWs in a POW camp in order to spy on them and report their escape plans to the camp commandant. Later, during the last major German offensive of the war in the Ardennes region of Belgium, Hans Von Kroner's skills are sought again by the German headquarters. He is ordered to take command of a group of English-speaking Germans and infiltrate the American Army units fighting in the Ardennes. Posing as American G.I.s, Hans Von Kroner and his men are ordered to create panic and confusion among the retreating American units, to deliver fake H.Q. orders to various American commanders in the field and to commit acts of sabotage against the American forces. These actions are to last from the start of the Battle of the Bulge in mid-December until the day when the German armies reach their final objective at the port of Antwerp. After a rough start, Hans Von Kroner's squad manages to infiltrate the nearest American unit and begins executing its plans. However, Hans Von Kroner, who masquerades as American Sgt. Leonard Richardson, is worried that he and his men will be unmasked and shot as spies.

Trying miserably to stay sober, Castle finds himself back in danger and in love, as he and the sheriff work together to get to the bottom of the mystery, encountering incredible danger and resistance from the frightened locals.

Komajuro Arashi, referred to as Master by his colleagues, is the lead actor in a second-rate travelling acting troupe in Japan; they perform grand kabuki. The troupe's next stop is a coastal town they haven't performed at in twelve years, the last time before Komajuro's girlfriend Sumiko joined the troupe. As is usual, some of the men try to have fun by pursuing some of the local women, sometimes with success, sometimes not. Komajuro has his own agenda in coming to this town, something only a few of the older troupe members know about, in that he fathered a son here close to twenty years ago. His son, Kiyoshi, has been told that his biological father died when he was a child and Komajuro is the brother of his mother Oyoshi. Komajuro has been sending money to Oyoshi all these years which is allowing Kiyoshi to soon go off to college, a better life than Komajuro as an itinerant actor leads. Komajuro wants to spend as much time as possible with Kiyoshi and Oyoshi before the troupe has to leave again. When Sumiko discovers what's going on, Kiyoshi becomes a pawn in the battle between Sumiko and Komajuro.

Now known as Chandra the Great, he travels through small towns with his sidekick Frank (Allen Jenkins), pretending to read minds as Frank feeds him the questions through a concealed microphone. In one town, the owner of a purse (Natalie Moorhead) that Frank has stolen comes to Chandra for help. Because Chandra is very attracted to the woman's niece, Sylvia Roberts (Constance Cummings), he reveals its hiding place. To impress her, he acts as if he were sincerely interested in helping people with his special powers. When she volunteers her services, he hires her as his secretary. Chandra manages to keep the truth about his racket a secret from Sylvia, until one night when Frank does not show up on time and Sylvia must read the questions. Chandra convinces her that the carnival act is merely advertising for his real work, answering the letters from people asking for his advice. Slowly Sylvia becomes suspicious of his sincerity, and when a woman commits suicide after Chandra's advice proves false, Sylvia demands that he go straight. Now using the name Chandler, he gets work as a door-to-door salesman, but sales are so poor that Frank, who is working as a chauffeur, easily persuades him to go back into the mind reading business. As Dr. Munro, Chandra gets information from Frank about the mistresses of wealthy men and sells it to their wives. Sylvia has no idea that her husband is the notorious Dr. Munro. When one of her friends decides to divorce her husband after a visit to the mind reader, Sylvia visits his office, planning to confront him. She learns Munro's identity when one of the divorced husbands (Earle Foxe) attacks Chandra who shoots the husband in the struggle. Chandra runs out the back way, leaving Sylvia to face murder charges. Much later, he returns to clear her name and asks her to wait for him until his release.

In this engaging costume melodrama of skulduggery on the low seas set back in the 18th-century, the Royal Crown suspects a bit of smuggling is going on in this locale, and they send Captain Collier and his crew to check it out. As the Captain gets into his investigation, mysterious swamp phantoms cloud up the real issue which seems plain enough to see. Captain Collier suspects that the odd village vicar might be hiding something, and what better way to do that than by fortuitous ghosts to scare away the curious, or by posing as someone he is not?

Bob Conrad is the playboy son of town squire Charles Conrad. Much against his dad's wishes, Bob falls in love with Dorothy McCarthy, the daughter of penniless widow Mrs. McCarthy. At the insistence of his dad, Bob weds Sally Lace. Dorothy's broken heart is mended however, when it turns out that Sally's divorce from her previous husband was never finalized.
