Howard W. Campbell Jr., an American living in Germany since childhood, is recruited by the United States to become an informer during the upcoming Second World War. What he does become, is one of the leading anti-semitic news broadcasters of Nazi Germany. After the fall of Hitler's Germany, Campbell's government friends arrange for a quiet life in the United States. His life is quiet until a complex web of spies and neo-Nazis draws him back into the life which he once led. Eventually captured by the Isralies, Campbell's one defense was: "I was an American Spy."

Poor Andy, all he wants to do is get to town and continue to woo his girl and ask her hand in marriage. Andrew "Andy" Hardy met his sweetheart Kay Wilson in college, but has since served in the military and is now being discharged. Getting back to Kay may be the hardest thing of them all to accomplish. He arrives in town alright, but things start to go awry from there. Question is, will he succeed?

So begins an entertaining road story where we witness two brothers with different cultural backgrounds, who don't even know each other, have similarities, differences and even their fights.

She learns that he is a creature of habit, which makes it easy for her to stalk him, but she also learns that he considers himself a confirmed bachelor, and if he does decide to marry that he wants to choose his own wife rather than the other way around as he quickly learns what she is doing in constantly and "accidentally" running into him. As such, Anabel adds another measure of attack in her plan, namely to have a potential suitor in name only to make Madison believe that he has competition in garnering her affections. The name she comes up with is Roger Sanford, the owner of the department store. Complications ensue when Roger does actually get involved in Anabel's personal life, he a thrice married and currently single playboy who generally does fall for women if he knows someone else is after them, such as an esteemed pediatrician.

In turn, Fenner doesn't seem to know that Clarissa as a potential mate even exists while he sets his sights on Jane. That doesn't stop Clarissa's scheming mother, Mabel Claremont (Dame Angela Lansbury), from preventing anything from happening between Fenner and Jane so that Clarissa can end up with Fenner. Instead, Jane seems to be falling for 23-year-old David Parkson (John Saxon), an Italian-American working as a drummer; his band plays at many of the social events among this circle. It isn't so much that he is a drummer, but Sheila buys into the rumors of David Parkson having been untoward to fellow deb Brenda Bassington in viewing him as unsuitable courting material for Jane. While he does what he needs to to appease his wife, Jimmy can see beyond the rumors eventually to get to the truth, specifically when he learns that Jane and Parkson, who he truly likes, are indeed in love. Jimmy must find a way to make Sheila see the truth about Parkson, just telling her which he knows will not do the trick.

There are a few hiccups along the way, some that help Eddie and some that help Marzack. What may trump all is something stronger within Marzack, namely to show that he is smarter than the rest.
