The Disqualified
Mehrez is a conspicuous personality in Mohammedia, a small Tunisian town. At 25, he decides to enlighten and challenge his community of unemployed, frustrated youngsters through the means of theatre. He puts his heart and soul and everything else he's got into his teaching, and his troupe begins to blossom. But suddenly, Mehrez is thrown in jail, and all his plans begin to go awry. Directed by Hamza Ouni, The Disqualified documents twelve years in the life of Mehrez, a wild and unconscionable set of bewildering contradictions. A gifted dancer and actor, but also irresistibly addicted to gambling and horse races, he struggles on a daily basis with himself and the contradictions of his country. In his never satisfied quest for truthful emotions, Mehrez defies all rules and mixes together in a deeply emotional maelstrom his ambitions and frustrations. Like some of Abel Ferrara's most challenging films, Hamza Ouni presents a character that strives for salvation but dances with unrestrained passion on the brink of the abyss.

Mother Teresa of Cats
Police arrest two brothers, Artur and Martin, at their aunt's provincial motel and escort them to jail in the capital. Unfolding in flashback, the film seeks out the motives for the crime they have committed. How did such irrational evil germinate in boys from a good family? Mother Teresa loves her two sons and sympathizes with her husband Hubert, a professional soldier traumatized by his experiences in Iraq. She helps music student Eva who lives with them and cares for their autistic daughter Jadza, and she is kindhearted to stray cats as well, allowing them to fill up their large apartment. Twenty-two-year-old Artur, fascinated by psychotronics, falls prey to the illusion of his own extraordinariness. He has his younger brother Martin completely under his control and their mother suspects nothing. His sense of superiority is confirmed by his father's growing impotence, and he scorns the man for investing his retirement bonus foolishly. La ville des silences
Creuzeville, a small very provincial town, calm and polite, with its woods, its countryside, its ramparts, its mass and its little Sunday cakes. A stranger arrives. He's a private investigator (Jean-Pierre Cassel). In Creuzeville, over which an old family of industrialists reigns, a murder has just been committed. The victim is the patriarch of this small empire that has outgrown one man. In Creuzeville, we hardly like foreigners, especially if they are vegetarians, perhaps homosexuals, undoubtedly anarchists like, precisely, this detective. However the detective by whom the scandal broke broke the silence of the city by going to the heart of family secrets hitherto well hidden behind purple shutters. The murders follow one another. We strike on the left - a young ecologist - as on the right - a cynical playboy. Continuing to dissect the motives and the characters, the detective dropped the masks one by one. And, little by little, fear and violence are settling in the small town.
