Incorrigible
Victor Vauthier is a master of masquerade and an incorrigible crook. No sooner has he served a three-month prison sentence than he returns to his old life of swindles, scams and amorous adventures. Victor lives with his uncle Camille in a converted caravan and is always planning new coups: Sometimes he sells things that don't even belong to him, sometimes he deals with shady business partners or wraps women around his finger with his irresistible charm. The idealistic probation officer Marie-Charlotte Pontalec is supposed to lead Victor back to the right path - but he is hardly impressed. Instead, he involves the young woman in a turbulent game of cat-and-mouse and tries to cast a spell over her. When Victor learns that Marie-Charlotte's father works as the manager of a museum in which a valuable El Greco painting hangs, he hatches a bold plan: together with Camille, he wants to steal the work of art. But the planned heist turns into a series of mishaps, mix-ups and comic situations. While Victor is torn between his rogue nature and his feelings for Marie-Charlotte, she finds out what he is actually up to.

Upon developing a new type of electronically driven plane, Walter Fielding, an inventor, offers the United States government first option on his creation. However, when William Fornay, a foreign agent, offers him three times the army's price, Fielding decides to insure that the government tests end in failure, thus enabling him to sell his patent to the highest bidder. After the initial flight crashes and kills its pilot, Lieutenant Gray, army flyer Major Roston begins to suspect sabotage. Hoping to flush out the saboteurs, Roston arranges for his own court martial, then feigns resentment towards the army. His ruse works, and Roston is soon contacted by enemy agent Carol Rayder. But Roston's first lead is sidetracked, however, when Carol and her employer, Joseph Dure, are found murdered. While investigating Carol's murder, Roston picks up a clue which leads to Fornay. Upon discovering that Fornay is behind the plane's mysterious failures, Roston deduces that Fielding must also be involved in sabotage. Roston substantiates his theory when he lures Fielding into taking a test flight with him, and by threatening to crash the plane, forces a confession from the inventor.

Made in Heaven
The historic market town of Dunmow, England is famous for the Dunmow Flitch, a mock trial to find the married couple epitomizing fidelity by proving they have had thoughts of no other for a year and a day, with the winning couple receiving a flitch of bacon, especially welcome and hard to come by during the post-war era. The Tophams have lived in Dunmow for fifteen years, but are still seen as outsiders by the Dunmow traditionalists, especially Miss Rosabelle Honeycroft, the elder domineering sister of the mild-mannered vicar, Hayworth Honeycroft. That is why Miss Honeycroft is so irked that Marjorie Topham has nominated her son, Basil Topham, and Basil's wife, Julie Topham, as the only entrants in this year's Flitch. Basil and Julie's young married life is not perfect as they live with Basil's parents, Marjorie and Aubrey Topham, and Basil's grandfather, Hillary Topham - which is a little too cozy for Julie's tastes - while their house is being built by local contractor Stanley Grimes, who seems in no hurry to get the job done. Basil and Julie didn't want to enter the Flitch as it places their life under a microscope. The lives of the Tophams and of all the men in town are turned upside down with the arrival of the Topham's new housekeeper, the exotically beautiful Marta, a Hungarian who had ulterior motives for wanting the job and who has expensive and refined tastes. Basil and Aubrey are both as captivated by Marta as any man in town, which doesn't sit well with Julie. Miss Honeycroft's attempts to disqualify Basil and Julie from the Flitch for any reason, Marta kissing Basil and whether anyone saw, and the missing flitch (which was pilfered but many who feel directly responsible for what they believe is them losing it) add to the confusion as the trial proceeds.

Pleasure at Her Majesty's
Pleasure At Her Majesty's (1976) The very first show in what came to be called the "Secret Policeman's Ball" series took place over three late nights in April 1976 at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. The show was instigated by John Cleese, who volunteered to "round up a few pals" to perform for Amnesty International's benefit. These pals transpired to be most of Monty Python, Beyond The Fringe and The Goodies (three of the U.K.'s most successful comedy ensembles) -- together with leading solo performers. It was a gathering of the British comedic tribes. Cleese titled the show "A Poke In The Eye (With A Sharp Stick)." The film documenting this comedy summit was titled Pleasure At Her Majesty's -- a wordplay on the formal British expression for imprisonment in which convicts are "detained at Her Majesty's pleasure."

Rock and a Heart Place
It started one Christmas when Tim McCloone volunteered to feed the homeless: "It was so quiet. So depressing." Something was missing. Music. In 1993, McCloone formed the answer: Holiday Express. Each year from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve, nearly 400 New Jersey musicians and volunteers band together to spread Christmas cheer. Their venues are soup kitchens and nursing homes. Their audience is the poor -- poor in health, wallet, and spirit. "If Christmas were on wheels," said one fan, "it would be Holiday Express." Weeks after the tragedy of 9/11, Holiday Express launches its most ambitious season: 50 shows in 30 days. To pull it off, they'll have to place 3,000 phone calls, pack 11,000 gift bags, inflate 4,500 balloons, make 2,000 ornaments, travel 5,000 miles, give 5,000 hugs -- and sing 1,800 songs. Along the way, a Grinch-like setback: losing their warehouse. On the road, a walk-on -- by a guitarist named Springsteen. And in the end, a revelation: the true meaning of Christmas.
